Tash wanting to sneak around with Ivan.
Summer wanting her and Andrew to go to uni, Paul wanting Andrew to work at Lassiter's.
Paul making Summer an offer: an internship at Erinsborough News, in return for making Andrew go work at Lassiter's.
Summer refusing to be bribed, Paul trying again to convince her.
Chris has bought Summer some cake, and wants details of her lunch with Paul. Summer's about to spill when Paul walks in and Sum clams up. Paul comes over to chat with them, making eyes at Summer, making her uncomfortable. Chris thinks Paul's creepy.
A car near a lake
Ivan has given Tash a necklace with her name on it, and taken her to brekkie, but now she has to go. More weird camera shots inside and outside the car. Ivan is frustrated that Tash has to go as her dad thinks she's out running, and thinks that their relationship is too much of a hassle. He doesn't want to keep doing this and tries to convince her to hang around. She insists that she can't. More weird shots.
Summer's looking up journalism courses when Karl asks if she wants anything down the shops. Sum says she called Libby to ask for advice, and whilst she's doing the right courses, she needs an ‘edge' to get into this course because it's so competitive. Karl suggests Susan might be able to pull some strings at the Erinsborough News, but Summer says the school has tried that before – no go.
Karl tells Summer not to let it get her down, and not to give up hope. More really weird cuts from different camera angles that don't work. Very unsmooth.
Andrew and Summer are all kissy (Andrew's also rather tonguey), and Sum apologises for dropping him in it with his dad the other day about study and running Robinson Entertainment, and tells him to do what makes him happy. They go all smoochy again and walk off across the bridge.
Tash is having lunch with her dad and he comments that she's not eating much – she needs to get energy in her for studying. He notices her necklace and she tells him she bought it online, annoyed at the questioning. Chris comes in to pick up Tash for the study sessions – Michael arranged it as he didn't trust her to go on her own. Annoyed, Tash strops out, followed by Chris.
As Tash is whinging that she's so fed up with her dad keeping an eye on her, Summer comes over and asks to borrow Chris for a moment. Tash goes to the bus stop to wait, and Summer tells Chris about an unpaid internship in return for making Andrew to work for him.
Chris makes it clear that Paul is bribing her, and she mustn't be tempted, or sell out her boyfriend for a place at uni. They both agree there's no way she can do it, and she thanks him for his help.
More weird shots of Melbourne from Church Street, some pigeons, and the number 48 tram. Tash and Chris are laughing at his music on his MP3 (Wham, for starters) when they pass Ivan who's doing some gardening at the uni. He approaches her to say hi, but to keep their relationship a secret from Chris, she tells him to get lost. Ivan is confused, and Tash tells Chris that he just hasn't got the message that it's over.
Summer comes in to see Paul and refuses to sell out Andrew for the job. Paul tries to manipulate her again, but Sum's having none of it. She won't take the job, and she won't lie to Andrew, and if Paul really wants to know his son, perhaps he should sit down and talk to him, like a proper parent. Way to go, Summer!
Paul tells Summer that he and Andrew are good right now, so he doesn't want her to ruin that by saying anything...
Andrew and Summer finish watching a film, and Andrew's complaining about the ending, but Sum says she needs to talk to him. However, Andrew keeps cutting in, and before Summer can say a word, he tells her that he and his dad are getting on well. She seems reluctant to ruin that.
Tash and Chris are walking and chatting and see Ivan again. They sit down, and Chris admits that he wishes he wasn't here – his dad wants him to study at uni and thinks he's not applying himself enough, hence the study classes. He's not even sure he wants to go to uni.
He goes to get coffee, leaving Tash alone...and she quickly pounces on Ivan. However, he's not best pleased at being ignored earlier, and tells her this feels a bit high school, lying and pretending. She tells him it won't happen again, but he brushes her off.
Karl answers the door to Paul who wants to see Summer. Karl closes the door in his face, then asks Sum if she'd like to speak to Paul. She says yes, so he opens the door again. Paul approaches Summer, and Karl stands right behind him, ready to defend her! But Sum says she's fine, so Karl heads for the garden.
Paul thanks Summer for not saying anything to Andrew, and offers her an envelope and leaves. She opens it: an internship offer.
Summer arrives, thrusts the offer back into Paul's hands and says she's not for sale; she's not being bought off for not saying anything. He insists that there are no strings with the offer, but she can't believe it.
SUMMER: Why? Why me? You never offer internships.
PAUL: Because the paper needs people like you. You're young, you're smart, you're articulate and you don't scare easily. You're perfect journo material. Well, a little left of centre for my liking. But we'll give it time.
She's still not convinced, and Paul likes that.
PAUL: I can understand why you'd be a little sceptical.
SUMMER: Really? After the bribes and the emotional blackmail...what gave it away, Paul?
PAUL: This is a genuine offer. No strings.
SUMMER: How do I know?
PAUL: You don't. It's a job offer. Take it or leave it.
She takes the papers back. Paul smiles...
More fast moving shots of Bridge Road. Grrr. Tash and Chris finish their latest study session, and Chris suggests lunch, but Tash lies and says she's meeting her dad. Chris doesn't seem sure, so Tash pretends to get out her phone to show him the texts...
Chris falls for it and leaves. Tash approaches Ivan, uses her seductive voice and asks to go somewhere to ‘talk'. He says they can ‘talk' in his car.
More random Melbourne shots before hitting the suburbs where Karl storms into the Robinson house, demanding what to know why Paul has offered Summer a job. Paul thinks Karl's beginning to sound like Susan, but Karl insists: why Summer? Why now? Paul says that Summer's smart, and he doesn't get why Karl's so interested.
Karl says he's interested in Summer's welfare, and that Paul only ever does something for a reason. Karl tells Paul he'll be watching him.
Michael sits and waits, and Tash finally rushes in, lying that she had to go to the canteen with Chris. She tells her dad she's enjoyed the study sessions, so he wonders what's wrong with her: she must be sick.
Michael goes to order lunch, and Tash receives a text from Ivan: “SEND ME A HOT PIC”. Okay, okay, no need to shout. Tash looks distinctly uncomfortable.
Cut to later where Tash has run back from the bathroom. The tag on her top is sticking out, and Michael turns it back in for her. She gets another text: “WOW SMOKIN! CU SOON?” So, shouting *and* a lack of apostrophe. She tells her dad it's from Chris, but suddenly realises what she's done, and looks very unhappy.
