Recap
- Paul blackmailing Rebecca into staying married
- Michael and Rebecca almost kissing
- Rebecca and Michael agreeing to a secret friendship
- Michael finding out Natasha stole the social money
- Natasha admitting she loves Andrew and doesn't want to lose him
Number 32
Michael brings the DVD player into the lounge room and sets it on the couch with a sigh. He looks at the bookshelves and picks up a photo of Natasha from when she was young and innocent, wondering where those days went.
Number 22
Everyone's finishing up dinner when Rebecca gets a text message from Michael (NEED SOME ADVICE), she smiles and quickly types a message back (Meet me at work). Paul ruins her buzz when he comes to chat with her, complimenting her on dinner and thanking her for making an effort with him. Rebecca pretty much brushes him off and says she has to go to Charlie's.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca brings over some desserts for Susan and Zeke, but not Karl.
SUSAN: He can't eat dessert, he's pinched a nerve. It's the one in his hip pocket.
KARL: You'll be laughing on the other side of your focaccia when you come to me with clogged arteries.
Zeke catches Michael before he can head to the bar, asking him if there's been any word on the social money. Zeke thinks they could reschedule and have a smaller dance before school finishes up, but Michael says it probably won't happen.
After Michael exchanges hellos with Rebecca, he quietly confesses that Tash was the one who stole the money. The thing he's most worried about, though, is the reason she took it: Andrew Robinson. Rebecca doesn't understand what Andrew has to do with it but Michael says it's a long story.
MICHAEL: Anyway, if you could just solve my teenage daughter problems that would be great!
REBECCA: (laughing) Yes I would but there's two words in that sentence that really bother me: teenage and daughter. You're an amazing father, you'll figure it out.
MICHAEL: I'm glad you've got faith in me.
REBECCA: Oh I have.
Number 32 - Next Morning
Michael tells Natasha he's figured out her punishment - she has to return the DVD player, her allowance is getting cut off until further notice and she's going to be suspended from school for a week. Natasha's worried about the suspension part, but Michael says he won't be telling people the reason; that's up to her. Michael adds that if she ever tries a stunt like this again then look out. Natasha hugs him but he just steps away - he's not ready to completely forgive and forget.
Harold's Store
Lyn hands over a coffee to Toadie with little to no enthusiasm. Lou says it's nice to see Toad in the "land of the living" again, but Toad says Lyn's the one he should be worried about. Lou assures Toad that Steph will eventually come around, it just takes a while to feel ready for visitors: "Believe me I know". He asks if Sonya's moved in yet and Toadie excitedly informs him that it's happening next week.
Andrew spies Summer reading a book and starts chatting to her, but Summer's still not in the mood to interact with him. Andrew quietly mumbles that he and Tash are really alike, that's why they're together, but Summer doesn't want to hear his excuses. He gets a text (COME AND SEE ME TASH XX - do the Williams family not understand lower case letters?) and Summer knows who it is without him saying. She looks upset when he walks out.
Lassiter's Complex
Andrew bumps into Rebecca, who cryptically tells him to go easy on Natasha today if he sees her. Rebecca asks if he really likes Tash and if he's happy. Andrew lies and says yes, partly out of guilt and partly because he's secretly enjoying Rebecca acting like a mum with him judging by his small smile.
Susan stops Karl mid- walk to say that she wants to go and check on Lyn. Karl doesn't feel comfortable with that idea and thinks they should give her more space. Susan reminds him that the longer they leave it the harder it'll be, but Karl says he's not ready yet.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca finds Declan working away at his laptop, who complains that the paperwork is never ending. Well, maybe if you spent more time at work and less time harassing your ex- girlfriend you'd get some crap done! Rebecca assures him it gets better and then breaks into a smile when she sees Michael at the bar.
REBECCA: Hi, you're back.
MICHAEL: Yeah, I like the service.
After Rebecca asks how things went with Tash she casts a furtive glance around the room before asking Michael if he has plans this afternoon. He gives her a lopsided grin when she casually mentions her work shift ends at lunchtime.
MICHAEL: (playing along) Don't you normally walk home by the lake?
REBECCA: Yeah that's the quickest way...
Their smirk- a- thon is interrupted when Paul joins them, asking if Rebecca's got plans this afternoon. Rebecca pointedly says she was counting on some alone time, but this doesn't faze Paul who thinks that sounds wonderful, even throwing in a "have a nice day" to Michael on the way out. Rebecca and Michael exchange curious looks.
Number 22
Declan overhears Paul on the phone to someone organising something for Rebecca that she's not to know about. Declan confronts Paul and demands to know what he's dragging Rebecca into now.
PAUL: You really need to get that delusional disorder checked.
DECLAN: You're the one who's delusional. She's only with you because she feels guilty for pushing you off a building.
PAUL: You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
DECLAN: Keep going behind her back and I'll start packing her bags.
PAUL: You know what? Your mother and I love each other.
DECLAN: (scoffing) Is that what you think this is?
PAUL: Declan I prefer to let actions speak louder than words, and this afternoon you're going to find out exactly how loud I can shout.
Today's nostalgia photo is of Hannah and Lance in 1996.
First Commercial Break
Harold's Store
Zeke catches up with Summer and asks how she's going, realising she's about as enthused as him right now with their combined Steph and Ringo angst. He gets a text from Susan asking him to meet her at home but she won't say why. Meanwhile, Paul walks in and sits with a man named Edmund who I'm guessing he was on the phone to earlier.
Charlie's Bar
Declan finds his mum and tells her he's concerned that Paul's up to something. Rebecca says Paul was in a good mood earlier, but that's exactly what Declan's worried about. He tells Rebecca to watch her back but she thinks he's just being paranoid and assures him she'll be fine. When Declan leaves, Rebecca checks her watch...
Number 32
Which is the very same thing Michael's doing. He tries to do some work but can't help staring at the clock on his laptop, willing it to go faster.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca's pleased to see that Kim the bartender has arrived early and smiles when she compliments her on her perfume. Rebecca grabs her bag and quickly rushes out.
Number 32
Natasha asks if her dad's going to be much longer on the computer, but Michael's decided that he's waited long enough and the computer's all hers. Natasha notices her dad's wearing aftershave and asks where he's going, but Michael says he's just off for a walk. He almost reconsiders when he realises Andrew's arrived, but Natasha tells him they'll be fine and pushes him out the door. She grabs Andrew for a hug and says it's so good to see him - if only Andrew felt the same way.
Harold's Store
Paul checks with Edmund that all his plans are set. Edmund says he usually has more of a lead- in time but everything looks OK. Lyn clears their table and nearly vaporises Paul with death lasers from her eyes when he drawls out a thank you. Paul reminds Edmund that Rebecca isn't to know about their plans.
Number 32
Natasha tells Andrew that she's been suspended from school but lies and says her dad found the text messages on her phone she'd sent Andrew (pretty much implying they were sex texts). It looks as though Andrew has decided to break up with Tash, but before he can get a word in Natasha shows him the business card she's designed for Robinson Entertainment. Chickening out, Andrew says he loves the card and Natasha grins, "We are so awesome, don't you reckon?" Andrew's like, "....Yeah... Awesome".
Lassiter's Park
Rebecca takes a seat under the rotunda, smiling when she sees Michael walking down the hill towards her. But she nearly jumps out of her skin when Paul saunters along with Edmund and says he's got something special planned for them - they're going to renew their wedding vows! Paul says he wants this to be a new beginning for both of them. Rebecca looks like she wants to crawl under a rock and die while Michael retreats back up the hill wondering what the heck's going on.
Second Commercial Break
Lassiter's Park
Rebecca drags Paul off to the side as random guests start arriving and asks what he's playing at. Paul says he wanted to do something to show how much he appreciates the effort she's putting into their marriage. Rebecca retorts that she doesn't want anything from him, but Paul wants everyone to know how much he loves her.
Zeke is less than thrilled that Karl and Susan have dragged him along to the ceremony, but the Ks say if they have to be there he does as well. They approach the Robinsons and Rebecca has to pretend like the wedding is a wonderful surprise. Paul wants to get started but Rebecca blurts out that they can't... They need to wait for the kids and she wants to freshen up first. Meanwhile, Michael has had enough of being in the dark and 'casually' wanders over to them to find out what's going on. Rebecca and Michael both look morose when Paul happily informs him that they're renewing their wedding vows. He invites Michael along for drinks at Charlie's while Rebecca gets herself ready. Say it with me now... Awkward!
Charlie's Bar
Karl and Zeke have a chat with Toadie, who says there's no way in hell he's coming to the ceremony but he'll definitely have all the free drinks he can on Paul. Karl gets a message from the hospital calling him into work and Zeke pouts that he has to stay with Susan while Karl gets to escape.
Andrew finds his dad and asks if it's alright if Natasha comes to the ceremony. Paul says it's fine and hopes his son is as happy today as he is. Andrew leaves and Michael steps in his place, asking Paul if he and Rebecca had the ceremony planned for a while now. Paul says it was a surprise for Rebecca - he organised the whole thing this morning.
PAUL: You see that's the difference between you and me, Michael. I know what I want and I do whatever I can to get it... Probably while you're out surfing.
MICHAEL: And where does Rebecca fit into all of this?
PAUL: Look, we've had a bit of a rough patch but we've come out the other side. She is the one for me and she's given me a second chance. I'm not going to throw that away.
Michael glances over to where Rebecca is serving food to some people, but when she meets his eye she has to quickly turn away.
Harold's Store
Lyn comments on how nice Andrew and Natasha look, but probably wishes she hadn't when she finds out where they're going. Natasha catches Andrew looking at Summer, who is working behind the counter, and says they should invite her along to the wedding. Yeah, and then you should invite her to watch you guys make out or something because that would be equally as excruciating! Summer is thinking along these same lines and turns down the offer when she's asked. Andrew and Tash pass Declan on the way out and Tash says he's going the wrong way. But Declan has no idea about the wedding as he's been in meetings all morning.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca is trying to call Michael from the office but she just gets his voicemail. Declan finds his mum and asks if the ceremony is just some kind of sick joke. He tells her this is what Paul was up to this morning and that she doesn't have to go through with it, but Rebecca claims that she wants to. She adds that she needs Declan standing by her this afternoon but he doesn't understand why. Paul joins them to give Rebecca a necklace to wear during the ceremony.
PAUL: I want this to be a constant reminder of just how much I do love you.
Declan mutters that this whole thing is "so wrong" and walks off. Rebecca stares at the necklace.
Third Commercial Break
Lassiter's Park
Paul smiles and the guests part to the side to allow Rebecca to walk through, but she looks as though she's making her way along death row waiting to be executed. As she gets closer to Paul she flashes back to him threatening to put Declan in jail if she didn't stay married. Michael gives her a concerned glance as she passes him and joins Paul at the front. While Edmund blathers on about their "love", Natasha takes photos (I'm sure Rebecca won't be smiling in any of them). Declan chooses this moment to run up and stop the ceremony, saying this isn't what Rebecca wants. Panicking, Rebecca takes Declan aside and tries to placate him.
DECLAN: It's time to end this circus mum. Enough.
REBECCA: I know what I'm doing.
DECLAN: After everything he's done to you, you still want to recommit to him?
REBECCA: I want to make it work. I have to.
DECLAN: Let's go.
REBECCA: I can't.
DECLAN: I'm not asking you I'm telling you. Come away with me now or you're on your own. You can choose me or you can choose Paul.
REBECCA: (sadly) I am choosing you.
DECLAN: Let's go.
But Rebecca can only walk back towards her doom and get the ceremony going again. Declan scowls and leaves, while Michael just stares at Rebecca as she lets Paul take her hands in his.

(Tomorrow on Neighbours)
LYN: I was under the impression that the hospital didn't want me helping with fundraising. (Karl goes to say something) Don't you dare! You want to make yourself feel better do it somewhere else.
(Rebecca kisses Paul at the ceremony like he's foot fungus)
REBECCA: Today was nothing. I felt sick to my stomach.
PAUL: Today was real.
REBECCA: Are you demented?!
(Rebecca goes to see Michael at home after the ceremony)
MICHAEL: I can't get involved.
(Michael reads a letter from Rebecca)
REBECCA V/O: The only thing I haven't lied about is the way I feel about you. More than anything else in the world I wish things were different, but they're not. We both need distance.
(Rebecca waits for a bus out of town - Michael runs to stop her)
