Previously on Neighbours
Kate asking Mark out for dinner.
Sonya concerned for Toadie.
Callum announcing that Toadie has disappeared and he found annulment papers for Steph and Toadie's marriage.
Sonya, Lucas, Callum and Sophie are hunting for Toadie to no avail. Lucas thinks he just needs some time out but Sonya has an idea and takes off after borrowing Lucas' Ute.
Goodwood Women's Prison
And she's guessed correctly as she finds him sitting outside the front door of the prison. He tells her that Steph won't see him and Sonya thinks it's probably because she is just settling into prison life. She asks him to open up but he is fearful for doing more of that because he thinks he's done enough already however she points out that she is still here.
SONYA: So after everything we've been through now you're still shutting me out?
SONYA: Jarrod, look at me.
TOADIE: Trust me, you don't want to hear it.
SONYA: Oh For the past year you've been banging on about me trusting you well it works both ways.
TOADIE: I do trust you.
SONYA: And this is your way of showing it by disappearing for the afternoon, by shutting me out? Give me a break Toadie; this is you feeling sorry for yourself. This is you wasting your life and wrecking my life and Callum's. Steph was punished for what she did, what did Callum ever do?
He doesn't reply, so she gives up and drives off.
Callum wants to know why Sonya didn't bring Toadie home, so she explains that Toadie wanted to stay to have some thinking time so he can deal with things. Callum doesn't quite get it but Sonya says that he'll come home when he is hungry!
Sophie comes in, relived to have found him and hears that they found Toadie. She then suggests since Toadie has been found that he comes back to her place but Cal isn't I the mood and heads home to his place instead.
SONYA: Not just any boys.
Sophie AND SONYA: Rebecchi boys!
Sophie reports to Donna and Kate that Toadie has been found and that Callum is being grumpy. Just as she thinks she is finally getting a text from Callum (she's been texting him), it turns out that its Kate who has got the text from Detective Hot Stuff confirming their date. Kate admits she is nervous about this date but Donna is on a mission to make it the best date ever!
Donna ropes Zeke into assisting with the “training” and has to be talked into helping when he'd rather do a runner.
Sonya returns Lucas' keys and tells him where Toadie was found (although Sophie already told him that as they passed when she returned home and he was leaving) and that he wouldn't leave nor talk to her. She admits that she is worried because unlike before, he isn't being honest and telling her how he feels. “Stuff him,” is Lucas' advice! Sonya thinks he is joking but he isn't, and tells her that she needs to put herself first. She then asks how he is doing and he quickly replies “fine” and doesn't want to expand on it before he leaves the bar.
Goodwood Women's Prison
“She won't see you,” is Toadie's words for Lucas when he turns but and he explains that it isn't Steph he is here to see and orders Toadie home! “What I do is none of your business Lucas,” Toadie replies and isn't amused at Lucas appearing to fight Sonya's battles for her.
Lucas then walks over to where Toadie is sitting on the bench and physically manhandles him, telling him again to go home, which he doesn't appreciate.
LUCAS: Sonya's not packing her bags just yet, you keep this up she will.
TOADIE: I don't need some counselling session, especially from you Lucas.
LUCAS: Oh that's right, cos I'm no expert in relationships since you stuffed my last one.
LUCAS: You know, if it wasn't you and your stupid idea about the baby then maybe Steph and I could have worked it out and maybe none of this (pointing to the prison) would have happened.
TOADIE: (defending himself) Oh no you can't blame me for this.
LUCAS: Why not?! You know, isn't that what you want? I mean you're sitting here feeling sorry for yourself? Why don't you have a real reason to have a cry?
TOADIE: Just get out of here Lucas.
(pushing Toadie back)
LUCAS: Just get in the damned car.
TOADIE: I said no.
And with that said, the two of them have fisticuffs with each other, ending up on the ground, and its Callum who shouts out for them to stop – he wants to know what they are doing.
And as we head into the first break, today's trip down memory lane is to 1993 and the Willis family (Gabby, Pam, Doug, Brad) and Beth Brennan having a BBQ.
Goodwood Women's Prison
Callum leans against Toadie's car, unimpressed at what he's witnessed (plus he's refusing to leave without Toadie). Lucas (sitting on the bench with Toadie) points out to Toadie that he isn't the only one affected by Steph being sent down. Toad says that he's let everyone down over the past year and is told not to continue doing that! “You've got people who want to help you through this,” Lucas tries to tell him and eventually it sinks in and he (and Callum) get into the car (after Toadie apologises) and go home with Callum pointing out he's got some serious making up to do with Sonya.
TOADIE: Yes I know. Maybe you could help me with that?
CALLUM: Yes but I'm not going to hug you yet!
And first lesson on Dating 101 is small talk but they lose Sophie when Callum arrives to seek her help at his place – she's had a lucky escape!
Lesson 2 is understanding the meanings of double meanings because according to Donna, everything a guys says on a date has a double meaning. And they get a real one to work on when Lucas comes home and replies “nothing” when Kate asked about the mess he was in and rejecting the offer of dinner when she mentioned she was about to begin cooking it.
Callum asks Sophie to keep quiet about the fight as they finish setting up the table for dinner (Toadie's re- cooking the dish he made for their first date). When the kids head to Cal's room, Sonya comes straight out and asks if they are going to talk about what happened but he doesn't think they need to because she was right – he was an idiot and is going to move on. She is reluctant to believe he is suddenly coping adding too that she doesn't want to be a spectator – he has to open up and let her in. Toadie doesn't reply, so Sonya decides that she needs to get some air and as she leaves, Callum comes through to ask if he's stuffed it up again?!
Toadie comes outside to talk to Sonya and the kids hang beside the door. “You have to start dealing with this,” she tells him and he replies that he is trying but needs more time. Sonya again tells him that he needs to open up and let her help him.
SONYA: You can't just cover things up with dinner and a movie.
SONYA: You can't live like this, what is it teaching Callum?
(pause while Toadie thinks)
TOADIE: I'm supposed to be that guy, the one that everyone can rely on and so far this year I've just stuffed everything up.
SONYA: You haven't stuffed up everything.
TOADIE: (welling up) I've done things that I'd never thought that I would do.
SONYA: You did everything that you could for Steph.
TOADIE: I've failed her and I'll fail you too.
Sonya reassures him that he won't, everyone makes mistakes and reassures him failure only happens when you don't turn up for the people who love you.
SONYA: I love you Jarrod. You and Callum are my family now and we have to stick together.
Toadie tearfully nods and then the two of them embrace each other and up by the door, Sophie pulls Callum in for a one- handed hug too. Aww.
Despite saying no earlier, Lucas is grateful to Kate for having made him dinner when he comes through from his bedroom although puts a quick end to her prattling on about Donna's plan. Kate asks if he loves Steph, he does, and reminds him that they are all there for him. However Lucas is still down in the dumps and he'll finish his meal in his room after explaining that he isn't good company atm.
Number 24 (next day)
“You look like death warmed up,” remarks Lou when Lucas joins them for breakfast but after a bit of banter, his mood soon lifts.
Toadie seeks Callum's approval on something before Sonya comes though to talk breakfast. He stops her though because there is something that needs to be sorted out.
TOADIE: We were talking, weren't we mate.
(Callum nods then gets out of his chair to stand next to Toadie)
TOADIE: And you know that we love you right?
SONYA: Yes I love you guys too.
TOADIE: And what you said yesterday, about us being family, well you were right, that's what we are. So, we were wondering how you feel about making it a more permanent thing.
(Toadie and Callum lower their trousers to reveal matching boxer shorts)
TOADIE: We want you to move in, be part of the family.
CALLUM: Wear the family uniform
(picks up a pair of red boxer shorts with silver and gold trees on them)
Sonya is killer herself laughing at them as they do a little dance and Toadie asks what she says?
SONYA: I want to move in, I really do.
(Toadie and Callum high- five each other)
SONYA: But like you said yourself, you need more time. I'm sorry, I can't, my answer's no.
Toadie and Callum weren't expecting that and look shocked as we head into the final commercial break.
Sonya reassures the boys that it won't change things, and Callum is finding it hard to figure out why she can't move in but she assures them that it will happen one day when the time is right for them all.
SONYA: Are we okay?
Toadie is quick to say yes and Sonya again reassures Callum that she will still stay over before she kisses Toadie goodbye.
CALLUM: How can you be okay with this?
TOADIE: I'm not.
CALLUM: But you heard what she said.
TOADIE: Yes I did and she is wrong. Sonya is part of this family and she will be moving in, I'll make sure of it.
Tomorrow on Neighbours
