- Libby and Zeke drive off in Susan's lecturer's car.
- Susan recognises the car as belonging to her stalker. She sets off in pursuit.
Lassiter's car park
Toadie returns to the car park and is takenaback to find his car has gone. He looks around in puzzlement. Andrew and Natasha come up and Toadie asks them if they've seen Susan - and his car! They suggest she might have gone home.
Toadie confesses to Karl that he's lost Susan. Karl is horrified and immediately calls her mobile - Susan could barely leave the house this morning! Susan isn't answering the phone.
In the background, hilariously, Ringo's skeleton is dressed up in a shrugolero and a scarf!
Susan's lecturer (John Bradley) is letting Libby and Zeke look through the media tapes, when Susan comes in, looking a lot stronger.
SUSAN: Your car is the same one that followed me.
JOHN: I know you've been under a lot of stress, Susan...
LIBBY: Mum...he drove us here to help us get information about Gemma.
SUSAN: Gemma is not responsible for any of this! You! You had accessed to my phone numbers, my email address...you knew when I was in class and when I wasn't...you had access to the lecture footage!
JOHN: I'm sorry, Susan, you're clearly confused...
SUSAN: Why would you do something like this?!
JOHN: I think you've said enough, don't you?
SUSAN: The police will check your phone, check your computer...
JOHN: What will that prove? The messages were sent from a web address.
Zeke realises that he couldn't have known that the messages were sent from a web address - no- one ever told him.
JOHN: This is ridiculous, it's speculation. Out! He opens the door to the room and ushers them out.
ZEKE: Let's go.
JOHN: Come on.
Zeke and Libby go through the (glass) door but suddenly John slams and locks the door behind them, locking himself and Susan in together.
(A few minutes later)
Libby is on the phone to University security while Zeke looks desperately through the glass.
ZEKE: Open the door!
Inside, John faces up to Susan.
SUSAN: What do you want, John?
JOHN: Look at you. You come in here, you take over my class, you behave like you know everything...
SUSAN: I wasn't the one sending anonymous messages.
JOHN: And you're still shocked when someone calls you on it! Just as arrogant as always. You still don't remember me, do you.
Susan tries to remember, but can't.
JOHN: 1995. I was a student teacher. You were Principal.
SUSAN:(recognition dawning) ...
JOHN: Finally, she remembers. I was going to be a teacher. But you failed me. You ruined my life. And you don't even remember me.
SUSAN: That's what this is about? You've hung on to that all this time? I remember a troubled young man who wouldn't accept my help.
JOHN: You gave me one of your patronising pep- talks. Then, you failed me.
SUSAN: It was your second placement. You'd already failed the first. You weren't prepared to listen, or to learn...how could you possibly teach if you weren't prepared to learn yourself? But this time you were *my* teacher, and you bullied me! Do you really think that's how a teacher should behave?
Zeke is on the phone to Karl now.
SUSAN: Please, answer me.
Security has now arrived to unlock the door.
ZEKE: It's OK, Susan, security's here!
SUSAN: No, just wait please, wait one minute. (To John) I asked you a question, John, and I would really like to hear your answer. Well? Do you understand how powerful those anonymous threats are? For the past few days I haven't been able to go outside. I haven't been able to sleep, or to eat. I have MS and I thought I'd had a relapse, and you didn't even have the guts to put your name to it! You should never have been at teacher, John. (To Zeke and Libby) Come on, let's go home.
They walk out.
Paul is introducing his staff to Diana from New York. They all applaud and Diana tells them how impressed she is with the Lassiter's operation.
Andrew, wearing a suit, comes over and introduces himself to Diana. Rebecca encourages Declan to "schmooze" to Diana, but he says it's not his style. Andrew is showing Diana a business plan. Finally, Rebecca drags Declan over to introduce him. Diana realises that Declan is Paul's stepson and starts putting two and two together. She asks him where he's been hiding all week. Paul drags Declan off, reminding him that he told him to stay clear of Diana.
PAUL: She's smart Declan. She wants to find a way to get you on your own.
DECLAN: That's the last thing I want!
Meanwhile, Rebecca is inviting Diana over for dinner tonight!

No.22, that evening
Declan gets in from work, breathing a sigh of relief. He tells Rebecca that he's been too busy to talk to Diana today. There's a knock at the door and Declan is shocked when Rebecca tells him she's invited Diana over! Paul is equally shocked to see her.
PAUL: Didn't know you were coming over!
DIANA: Really? I just assumed you knew everything!
The police are telling Susan, Karl, Toadie, Zeke, Libby, Donna and Ringo that John Bradley has made a full confession and charges have been laid. Apparently his qualifications were falsified and he hasn't made bail either.
Libby and Zeke admire how strong Susan was when talking to John in that room.
SUSAN: You know, once I could put a face to it, it was much easier to handle. All this time with the messages and everything, I imagined it was this monster that was stalking me and it turned out to be just a...just a weak little man. I'm starving, anyone else!?
Paul, Rebecca, Diana, Declan and Andrew are having dinner. Declan is very awkward around Diana and she wants to meet Declan tomorrow for a "one- on- one". Andrew says he wants to meet Diana too to discuss his business plans, blissfully unaware of the undercurrent between Paul, Declan and Diana. Then Diana insists that she and Declan will wash up.
DIANA: We'll clean up. (Stony- faced, to Declan) Won't we.
Donna is telling Susan in awe that she's the bravest woman she's ever known! Karl makes her a cup of tea. In the background, the skeleton is still dressed hilariously in Donna's clothes.
Suddenly Donna remembers she's got something for Ringo - the paramedic course notes he's missed. He's very pleased.
Susan says she's not going back to uni - she faces ethics in journalism at work every day. Karl advises her to just sleep on her decision. Ringo and Donna say that they'll all support her and Susan looks thoughtful.
Kitchen of No.22
Diana is grilling Declan for details about the financial problems. He says it was all a mistake.
DIANA: I know what he's like. I know he's got to you. What was it? Promises, threats? I know it's complicated, you're his stepson and there's family to consider. You've got a very bright future ahead of you. If you want it. I'll look forward to our meeting tomorrow.
No.22, the following morning
Andrew snipes at Declan for "sucking up" to Diana. Rebecca says that Paul has been tossing and turning all night. Paul says there's nothing wrong, he'll just be glad when he's gone. He asks Declan to see him at work first thing.
Karl has been on the phone organising a holiday for him and Susan in Queensland - she needs a break and she'd get to see Billy and Anne. Susan is a bit suspicious at the generosity Karl is showing and indeed, it turns out that there is a conference going on! But still, it's a free holiday, so Susan agrees. They leave the day after tomorrow.
Ringo is starting back at University today, and says he feels great about it - and it's all thanks to Donna. Susan decides to join them - she's thought about Ringo's words last night and is going to give University another go.
Susan sees Gemma and goes over to apologise. Gemma is magnanimous - she heard what happened with John and is appalled at his actions.
Diana is grilling Declan again, but he's sticking to his story that it was all a computer glitch. Diana clearly doesn't believe him.
DIANA: Last night was really lovely. Your mum, she's so warm. She's so lovely.
DECLAN:(guarded) Yes, she's great.
DIANA: I can tell that you're both very close. That she's a great help to you with India.
DECLAN: She is.
DIANA: I can see why you'd want to protect her. Why you'd lie to protect her. I can protect Rebecca too. Keep her safe. Safer than she'd ever be with Paul Robinson.
Andrew comes in and interrupts them, wanting to show Diana his proposals again, but she says she hasn't finished with Declan yet. She sends Andrew away.
DECLAN: I made a mistake. I should never have called New York.
DIANA: I've been watching Paul for a long time. Long before he came to New York, begging for money. I know that he was embezzelling company funds, and I will get proof, no matter what it takes.
DECLAN: Well, I don't know anything about it.
DIANA: Let me just make something clear. I am hear to take Paul down. And if you get in the way, I will take you and your lovely mum down with him.
