Lassiter's Complex
A very well- dressed lady is chauffeured to Lassiter's reception. Her heels spike the ground as she steps out of the car and surveys her surroundings with a smirk.
Charlie's Bar
The lady orders a complicated coffee from the bartender but says she'll just have a mineral water if he can't handle it. Declan walks in to pick up an order and calls Diana while he's there (they don't see one another). Diana, of course, turns out to be well- dressed, complicated drink lady. Declan lies and says the Paul situation is under control and there's no need for her to come to Australia, "It turns out it was all just a software glitch".
Paul rushes in and tells Declan to hurry, he's double parked. Declan asks if Paul destroyed all the files and Paul nods; Dec and Rebecca now have nothing to worry about. Except for the fact that Diana has sprung up behind them to say hello, much to Paul's horror. She hands him a gift - a cowboy hat - and Paul introduces her to Declan, who has his, "Oh crap" face on.
Harold's Store
Kate is stoked to find out that Lyn's going on a date with Terry, and that he bought her pre- date flowers. Lyn tries to play the whole thing down, but is even more embarrassed when Lucas sticks his nose in to find out the goss.
KATE: Lyn is going on a date and she's a little bit nervous.
LUCAS: What's there to be nervous about, gorgeous hunk of a woman like yourself.
LYN: Stop it! (quietly) I'm not very good at choosing the right man.
LUCAS: What's that, Lyn?
LYN: (whispering) I said I'm not very good at choosing...
LUCAS: (loudly) The right man! No, I did hear you right. Well you did marry Paul Robinson so I would be worried if I was you. But what's the chances of marrying two complete tyrants in one lifetime, ay?
LYN: ... He's right, I'm not going.
KATE: Lucas!
LUCAS: (laughing) I'm just winding you up. I'm sure you'll knock his socks off... He does wear socks doesn't he?
Kate tells Lyn she'll cover for her just as Terry arrives to pick up his "special date". Lyn's slightly mortified and shoos Lucas away when he asks for an introduction. She asks Terry to wait outside for her and looks like she wants to pike out until Lucas gives her an encouraging pep talk and tells her to go for it.
Lassiter's Complex
Lyn joins Terry and apologises for being ungracious. She explains that with the business and a grandchild on the way she doesn't really have time for anyone new in her life. Terry's fine with that - he's not after a relationship either; he just wants someone to hang out with... And if something happens down the track, so be it.
TERRY: For the moment we're just having a laugh and whatever happens, happens.
LYN: Look I'm flattered and everything it's just that we are really different aren't we.
TERRY: Yeah but sometimes opposites attract.
LYN: ... Well sometimes they don't.
Terry tells her to wait and see what he's got planned first. They walk to his vintage convertible and he tries to open the door for her but it gets stuck. So Lyn sits on the side and ungainfully falls backwards into the passenger seat. This date's off to a rockin' start.
Charlie's Bar
Declan brings Diana and Paul their drinks before being sent away. Diana is interested to learn that Declan is *the* Declan Napier. Paul pretends that everything at Lassiter's is under control and says it was probably a waste for Diana to come out, but Diana is far from done in Erinsborough.
DIANA: I thought I might stay awhile.
PAUL: There's no need.
DIANA: Are you sure about that? (off his look) I could always tell when you were a bit rattled. What are you hiding?
PAUL: (scoffing) I'm not hiding anything.
DIANA: That'd be a first. Maybe I'll have you walk me back to the hotel to freshen up, then you and your lovely wife can show me around. I think I'm going to like it here. And if all of your staff are as handsome as that Declan Napier who knows how long I might stick around...
Diana smiles at him and Paul tries not to squirm in his seat.
First Commercial Break
Number 22
Rebecca and Kate are putting up streamers for India's party while chatting about Declan. Kate says he's been stressed lately but other than that he's OK. She goes upstairs to check on Indy just as Declan arrives with some food trays. He explains that Paul's caught up with "some fancy businesswoman from New York", which disappoints Rebecca. Paul could be away for hours.
Indoor Rock- climbing Centre
Terry guides Lyn inside with his hands over her eyes and she's gobsmacked when he does the big reveal. Lyn asks if he's crazy and says there's no way she's scaling something that high, but Terry eventually manages to talk her into it with a little reverse psychology. Even though Lyn's onto him, she still agrees to soldier on.
Cut to later: Lyn makes a big show of climbing then says she has to get down. We pan back to see that she's only climbed two rungs and can still nearly touch the ground. Meanwhile Terry is miles ahead of her and says the last one to the top has to buy lunch. Lyn's competitive streak kicks in and she re- starts her climb.
Number 22
Rebecca, Paul, Declan, Kate and Lucas all have party hats on and are helping the birthday girl blow out her candle. Kate opens a present from Donna and Ringo (who are stuck at uni) - a mini shrug- o- lero. Rebecca says Declan should make a speech seeing as it's not every day his little girl turns one.
DECLAN: I just want to say thanks. Not for the presents and the stuff, but for always being there for me and Indy. It's been a bumpy road and I've made a truckload of mistakes, but here we are, together.
He takes out a small jewellery box. It has Didge's wedding ring inside.
DECLAN: And this used to be your mother's, before that it was your grandmother's. Now it's yours to remind you of where you came from and how much we love you. Happy Birthday.
He kisses India on the head while Rebecca wipes away her tears. She makes a toast to India, their family and to plenty more happy birthdays. Declan and Paul exchange a look before Lucas gathers everyone to take some happy snaps.
Afterwards Paul takes Declan aside and lets him know how unimpressed he is about Diana being in town. Declan explains that he did it out of anger and tried to call her off. Paul asks what she knows and Declan says she's aware of the money in the Pirate Net account, but she doesn't have any evidence. Paul growls that Declan has no idea what he's started, but has to pretend everything's fine when Rebecca drags him away to meet up with Diana.
Second Commercial Break
Charlie's Bar/Number 22
Paul and Rebecca finish the tour of Lassiter's at the bar, explaining to Diana that it's the most successful business in the complex. Rebecca says that she and Paul work as a team and their strengths really complement one another. Diana is all smiles and charm with Rebecca and goes off to take a tour of the refurbished kitchen.
While they're gone, Paul rings Declan and says they're going to have to cover their tracks. He asks Declan where he got all his information from, but Declan lies and says he found it out himself. Paul doesn't believe him and tells him to make sure his source gets rid of any copies, "Remember it's not just you and me involved in this". He hangs up and Declan asks Kate and Lucas to keep an eye on Indy for him - he has an errand to run.
Lassiter's Complex
Declan rushes over to Toadie just as he's locking up the office. He says he needs all the copies of the evidence they found. Toadie thinks Paul's gotten to him, but Declan explains that Diana's in town and if she finds out the truth then Rebecca will be in major strife as well. Toadie reminds him that Rebecca has no idea what Paul's done, but Declan knows Toadie can't guarantee his mum will be safe and demands the documents again. Sighing, Toadie tells Declan they can talk about it inside. Over at Lassiter's, Paul is strolling along with Diana when he sees Declan and Toadie go into Toadie's office.
Harold's Store
Lyn and Terry return from their adventure and Lyn is full of beans from her accomplishment. Kate and Lucas arrive with India and Kate is excited to hear about Lyn's outing.
TERRY: This one climbed like a champion. Me, I just mostly dangled like some sort of geriatric teabag.
Lyn calls Lucas over and introduces her "friend" Terry to him (after avoiding it earlier). Terry says he's Lyn's "special friend", but Lyn freaks out and says, "more friend than special". Lyn and Terry sit down and bicker a bit, with Lyn pretending she's annoyed, but really she's having a pretty nice time hanging out with him.
Charlie's Bar
Paul lets Declan know he's onto the whole Toadie thing, but Declan warns him to keep Toadie out of it. Paul checks that all the copies have been destroyed and Declan assures him that all the office files were shredded. Toadie's on his way home to destroy the rest. Satisfied, Paul tells him they're never to mention this again. He walks out just as Diana makes her way over to Declan.
DIANA: Declan how's that software problem?
DECLAN: Sorry?
DIANA: Your message. Apparently last week's corporate fraud is this week's IT glitch. It's messy, Declan. Really messy. I thought you were some up- and- coming junior. Now I see you're just junior.
DECLAN: I didn't have all the facts. I can't prove anything.
DIANA: Well it didn't sound that way last week.
DECLAN: I can't prove anything because there's nothing to prove.
DIANA: Your loyalty would be admirable in any other situation. Here, I'm afraid, it's wasted. If there's any dirt on Paul anywhere, I will find it.
She stalks out and Declan looks worried.
Number 30
Paul barges in without knocking and yells at Toadie for going behind his back. He sees a folder and demands to have the last of the files, but Toadie stands his ground and orders Paul out of his house.
PAUL: I want everything you have on me now.
TOADIE: No. Now I said get out.
PAUL: You're my lawyer. Give me the files.
TOADIE: I quit.
PAUL: Great, saves me the hassle of firing you. Now give me the file!
TOADIE: See the thing about the 'I quit' situation is that you don't get to tell me what to do anymore.
PAUL: Nobody does this to me.
TOADIE: You did this to yourself, Robinson! I might hold onto this file, it might come in handy.
PAUL: You're forgetting that I'm not the only one involved here.
TOADIE: Yeah there's Rebecca, and you used her to manipulate Declan, but you see that's not going to work with me.
PAUL: I'll tell Steph - everything you've done for me. I don't think the honeymoon will last too long then.
TOADIE: (getting up in Paul's face) Go ahead, tell her, I don't care. See I'm over all of this blackmail and manipulation. It's just not worth it. The thing is, Paul, I'm actually smarter than you, so it might take me a while but I will find a way to bring you down and keep Rebecca out of it. Now get out.
Paul glares at Toadie. If looks could kill...
PAUL: You will regret this.
TOADIE: (mock- scared) Oooh...
Paul leaves and Toadie gets a pleased smile on his face - he's finally one- up on Paul.
Third Commercial Break
Number 22
Rebecca tells Paul she's heading off to meet with the accountant. She wants everything in tip top order now that Diana's here. She asks if Paul's OK and he says he's fine, but as soon as she's out the door his face turns to thunder. Seeing some folders on the bench, he sweeps them to the ground in anger and frustration. Suddenly, he picks up his phone and dials someone, asking for a private investigator. He tells them to dig up all the dirt they can on Jarrod Rebecchi.
PAUL: Every skeleton, every secret, I want it. Everyone has a secret and I want to know what his is.
Paul hangs up the phone with a satisfied smirk. No one messes with him and gets away with it.
Preview
(Tomorrow on Neighbours)
MICHAEL: Any boy would be proud to be with you.
NATASHA: Any boy except Andrew.
(Natasha looks annoyed when some female guests flirt with Andrew at Lassiter's)
(Steph and Libby are having coffee together)
STEPH: Toadie's a good guy, you know that... What are you doing?
LIBBY: Checking his call log.
STEPH: No!
(Paul's on the phone to his private investigator)
PAUL: You give me something I can use. If you can't do this within the bounds of the law, then step outside them.
(Paul sees Toadie speaking to Diana)
DIANA: You might find what Mr Rebecchi has to say very interesting.
(Paul has had Toadie's house bugged - he listens in to a conversation of Steph and Toadie's)
PAUL: It's only a matter of time, Rebecchi.
STEPH: Paul doesn't do 'terms', Toad. Unless they're his own. We've got to make sure we don't make any more mistakes.
(Paul hands Toadie a letter to post)
TOADIE: We're through.
