Number 30
Toadie is annoyed, Steph is breezy and in need of takeaway and Callum is non- the- wiser. Toadie switches the TV off because he is all narky and sends Callum away. He wants Steph to stop avoiding the Lucas subject, is she going to be okay working with him? Steph just wants to be mates with him again, she's not deluding herself and she's not going to blow it.
TOADIE: You might not be able to control yourself, Steph.
STEPH: Thanks for the warning, but nothing's happened and nothing's going to happen.
Number 22
Lucas has made a lasagne or two. (He'll take some leftovers in for lunch tomorrow, Steph might like some.) Andrew comments that women love it when men cook for them and Rebecca's all "take it easy on the Steph thing." Paul has come across one of Andrew's manuals in the magazine rack and isn't happy. Andrew suggests Lucas might want to take a look.
LUCAS: When I need love tips from a teenage boy, it'll be the first place I look.
ANDREW: Your loss.
Lucas seems tempted by the manual. Since when did blokes ever read manuals anyway?
Number 26
Next morning Lucas popped around with a box of out of control paperwork that he's hoping Steph can help him out with. Steph gets awkward but goes to find a calculator. In the kitchen Andrew comments that Lucas has been reading his manual, Chapter 5:Find something to do together. Back in the lounge room Summer wants to know what Lucas is doing there and is surprised at how well they're getting on. Lyn looks suspicious.
Harold's
Callum is wary of entering the store but Sophie assures him that Dean and his dipsticks aren't going to bother them anymore. Callum heads over to speak to Mao Paul to question him on the Art of War.
CALLUM: I haven't seen my enemy in over a week.
PAUL: Really? Not even a skirmish? Clever.
CALLUM: What does it mean?
PAUL: Have you read Chapter Five yet? [clearly it's a popular chapter this episode] It talks about the two methods of attack. Direct and indirect.
CALLUM: And this one's obviously...
PAUL: ...Indirect, you're catching on. Aah, he's just wearing you down, sapping your energy while all the time he's just WAITING to pounce!
Callum looks suitably freaked out.
Lassiters Complex
Summer, Andrew and Harry talk about how weird it is that Summer has an uncle who is so much younger than her. They bump into Sophie and Callum as they go into Harold's. Harry's pleased to hear there's still no sign of Dean, but tells them he'll be there if there's any trouble. Callum doesn't understand how Sophie can be so sure that everything is fine. He wants to know what Sophie said to him, but Soph thinks that all that matters is that Dean made her a promise. Callum still doesn't trust him and explains the indirect attack theory. Sophie tells him to talk to Toadie if he's so worried about it. Callum says he only talks to Steph these days.
Dean and the gang home into view talking M rated video games, because that's just how tough and bad these kids are. After a bit of a staring match they walk on by.
Harold's
Andrew continues his charm offensive on Summer talking about how cool it must be to live on an oil rig. Lyn breezes in and tries to corner Lucas to talk, but Toadie arrives on the scene and coffee nearly gets spilt. It's messy. He informs Lucas that Steph is cutting down on her coffee intake for regular health reasons. Lucas says that it's great to have Steph back in the garage, they make a hell of a team.
TOADIE: She's moved on Lucas.
LUCAS: Really? Because you saw her yesterday. Did you look like someone who had moved on to you?
Lucas leaves and Lyn asks Toad if Lucas really does think he's still got a chance with Steph. Toadie says he's just trying to wind him up, but Lyn tells him about the paperwork incident earlier. Toadie is irked some more and goes to catch up with Lucas.
Lassiters Complex
Toadie tells Lucas he knows what he's playing at making excuses to spend time with Steph. He tells her to stop messing with her head. Lucas believes he's just giving her a choice. Steph has made her choice though, she chose Toadie.
LUCAS: We'll see.
TOADIE: You need to leave her alone.
LUCAS: Or what?
Charlie's
Well what do you know? Lucas has found a whole load more paperwork to go through with Steph. Rebecca comes in, notices Steph and Lucas and asks Paul how long it's been going on for. Paul tells her they're "doing accounts".
REBECCA: Oh that's what they're calling it now.
PAUL: A suspicious mind. That's not like you darling!
Rebecca explains that Lucas told her he was going to try and get Steph back. She doesn't want to see him get hurt again. Paul wonders if it's the competition that will get hurt as Toadie walks in. Toadie is good with numbers so he can help out with the accounts and Lucas can go back to the garage. Steph knows she's in for a telling off from Toad.
TOADIE: He's going to keep pushing you and sooner or later you're going to give.
STEPH: It's just so e-
TOADIE: - Easy to be with him? Yeah. Yuh, I know how you feel, but you can't let your guard down. Not for a second.
Easier said than done.
Erinsborough High
Libby hands back history tests (remember the days when Libby was an English teacher not the only teacher in the school with expertise in all subjects?) and she's impressed with Dean, Milton and Will's marks, whatever they did, it works for them so they should keep it up. Insert hollow laugh here. Next week there is a geography test to get revising for.
Out by the lockers Callum moans about Dean then heads off to the canteen leaving Sophie to chat to Harry. He's pleased to hear that she's still not being hassled and mooches off. Dean and his cronies come along and they've changed their minds. Getting good grades works for them so they want next week's geography test ahead of schedule. Dean threatens her in the most pathetic way I've ever seen anyone threaten anyone. Urgh, just swat him away like a fly Sophie.
Charlie's
The books are all finished and Lucas is calling. Steph decides not to answer but to check the invoices again.
Erinsborough High
DEAN: There you are. Geography paper. When do we get it?
SOPHIE: Next week. At the test like everyone else.
Dean's voice breaks a bit which makes him extra scary. He angrily yet lamely knocks a book to the floor. Oooo! Callum spies Dean hassling Sophie in the classroom and runs off to grab Harry. Harry tells Dean to pick the book up. Sophie tells her brother she'll be okay, but Callum chips in saying that she did something to protect him, he heard. Harry's all, nobody is leaving until I know what's going down.
SOPHIE: They threatened to hurt us unless I stole the test.
CALLUM: You stole the test?!
DEAN: So if you dob on us, there'll be big trouble.
HARRY: Shut up and get out.
Dean & co comply. Harry tells Sophie she needs to have him named and shamed. They can fix it. Libby comes in and wants to know what's going on.
After the break the whole bullying drama has been revealed to Libby who has spoken to said bullies and they're being suspended. Hopefully by their toenails.
LIBBY: They will also be required to publicly apologise to you and Callum.
CALLUM: Suck on that! I mean...thanks Miss.
Libby tells Sophie that she understands why she did what she did but she can't be expected to fix these things by herself. Sophie asks about the test and Libby says she'll have to write another one but at least they'll know what to expect.
Harold's
Kate has been summoned to school so her time in this scene is pretty short. Steph comes in to make up for her absence and Lyn decides to speak to her in the kitchen.
LYN: Steph, I know you're a big girl, but you're my big girl and I'm worried.
STEPH: Mum there's...(incomprehensible sound)
Lyn wants to know if Lucas is trying to split her and Toadie up. From what she can see he is trying to worm his way back into her affections and she is letting him. She admits that working with him is harder than she thought but she can handle it. Lyn doesn't think she can.
STEPH: What am I supposed to do?!
LYN: He's not going to give up on you, is he?
Steph shakes her head. Lyn tells her to sack him, if she wants to fix it she's got no choice. Steph is disbelieving.
Number 22
Lucas has a beer and is watching the racing when Steph calls by. He offers to get her a drink but she isn't staying. She wants to talk about work, it's important. Lucas reminds her that they're missing the Grand Prix pre- season in surround sound as provided by the Robinsons. Steph decides the important work (sacking) stuff can wait. They settle in to watch the race.
Erinsborough High
Kate and Toadie have been informed about what happened. Kate is all stressed out that she hasn't been spending enough time with Sophie and that she thought everything was under control. Toadie is incredulous. Callum comments that at least Sophie has been looking out for him.
Number 22
The TV has bust and Lucas is frantic. Steph laughs because Paul isn't going to be happy. Lucas doesn't care about Paul he wants to see who wins. There's an awkward moment and Steph decides to leave. Lucas wants to go to hers to finish watching, but Steph says she has to make dinner for the kids etc. She scoots out.
Erinsborough High
Toadie wants to know how Libby didn't know the bullying was going on. Libby says that she asked them about it and when she found out what was happening she dealt with it.
CALLUM: It's not Miss Kennedy's fault.
SOPHIE: Yeah, but I didn't tell her.
TOADIE: Why didn't you tell me?
CALLUM: Because you just don't care!
Number 30
Callum is still in a strop. He didn't talk to Toadie because he doesn't listen. Ever since Steph has been on the scene he doesn't care at all.
CALLUM: It was way better before. Sonya was so much better.
TOADIE: Callum!
CALLUM: What? We used to laugh with Sonya. We never do that anymore. It's always with the secrets and the grumpiness and always being sent out of the room! I mean why did you pick her? You're not happy, you're miserable.
Toadie demands and apology but Callum storms off saying that he hates Steph.
Steph stands wearing a "he has a point" expression.
