Previously on Neighbours
Kate being given the lead in the dance show.
Harry being warned off from the basketball tryouts.
A happy Kate returns to applause from her waiting family and Declan. Sophie and Harry go off into a corner to recreate Kate's dancing and alone with Declan; Kate admits to him her fears about being the main dancer. He reminds her that Terry picked her and asks her siblings if they want to head to Charlie's and celebrate Kate's success.
Rebecca hugs Kate over her success and says she's shouting them dinner as a celebration. As they make themselves comfy at a table, Kate gets a text from Donna – no word on when she's coming home or where she is but wants to Skype with Kate tomorrow (Declan gives permission for her to use his computer).
Kate then spots Candace entering the bar with her mates and Declan shoves her over to talk. Candace is cool with being dropped from the lead and says she'll see Kate tomorrow at rehearsals… although once Kate rejoins her table Candace gives her a right dirty look!
Number 22 (next day)
Andrew leaves another message for Donna, promising to keep calling until she talks to him. Declan suggests that he leaves her alone but is told to mind his own business. He tells Andrew about the text to Kate but offers no more information.
Macca tries to prove he's a hard man by giving Andrew stick over the clip of Donna (its doing the rounds via text message) but Andrew doesn't pay too much attention and he eventually leaves. Harry knocks back Andrew's offer of shooting hoops and he asks Sophie what gives. She replies that he's annoyed with him, so Andrew asks her if she is too but Sophie replies that she's disappointed.
Donna Skype's Kate – she went to Sydney to be Ringo to take her back but he wouldn't see her. She refuses to tell Kate where she is and when Declan arrives, she cuts short the session. Kate then gets annoyed with him when he isn't bothered that Donna might not return.
Kate's on the hunt for her shoes as they weren't in the changing room and Candice points to them over in the corner. As she puts them on, Terry arrives to see the run through. They begin but it's quickly curtailed when Kate falls (after her heel snapped) and can't continue due to a sprained ankle. As someone helps Kate off the stage, Candace can't help but run up to her and take her hat since she's now got the lead role back. Kate accuses her of interfering with her shoes which Candace doesn't exactly refute, just telling her to get home because she's in the way.
Kate returns home on crutches with doctor's orders to rest although the mood she's in, she wants to head back to the theatre and dance (to prove a point to Candace) but Declan reminds her that the ankle will get worse if she does that. “I'll be fine” she tells him and he asks if that's “before or after surgery?!”
Kate still wants to dance because of the guardianship and when Declan tries to talk her out of it, she asks why he cares. “Because I'm your mate and I'm looking out for you” he replies but Kate thinks if he were that, he'd be backing her up.
DECLAN: Even if it's stupid?
KATE: What gives you the right to tell me what to do?
DECLAN: Fine. You know what, you're right. Do what you what, I don't care.
Rebecca quizzes Declan over his reaction and he reiterates that he's just friends, so she asks him to be that.
Macca is now after details from Andrew but he ignores him and instead finds Harry to tell him the deal Griffo originally wanted so that if Harry wants to judge him, he can do so knowing the truth.
Harry joins Andrew to shoot some hoops. Andrew wants to know why and Harry explains that he makes him feel like a loser because he's done everything with a girl whereas he's not done anything. Andrew promises Harry that when he makes the basketball team he'll have girls all over him! Harry isn't sure he'll make the team because he gets nervous.
We then find that Harry is giving some younger kid basketball advice (Andrew paid the kid $10). He then notices that he's doing it in front of the gathered but isn't chuffed to find out that its Andrew's plan to help him with his nerves because it means others will think he is awesome and feels he'll stuff up even more under the added pressure.
ANDREW: I didn't really think about it like that.
HARRY: That's right, you never think at all do you?
Harry and Sophie find out about Kate's injury when they return from school and she confirms to them that she is still planning on dancing. Rebecca arrives with dinner for them and just behind her; nervously Declan asks if he can come in. “If you want to” is Kate's reply and Sophie asks if they've had a fight.
DECLAN: I tried to tell her what to do.
HARRY: Ooh big mistake.
Declan realises that and is round to help her dance that night by telling her about a footy trick of icing. He begins Kate's “treatment” while Rebecca ropes the siblings into helping and is impressed when Sophie tells her Andrew's role in helping Harry feel like a superstar.
Andrew leaves a message on Donna's Facebook page asking that she talk to him because he knows she spoke to Kate. Harry comes round to chat about what Andrew did at school and its now Andrew's mission to get Harry on the school team!
The icing treatment is ongoing and it also seems to be bringing Kate and Declan closer together too as he tenderly pushes back a strand of her hair that fell when she was asleep.
Declan wakes Kate up and they check to see if the icing has worked. She announces that the swelling is down and when she tries to put her weight on it, she announces that it feels fine. “Good enough to dance” he asks and Kate confirms she's good to go.
Kate begs Terry for a chance to go on stage even though he doesn't think she can, given her injury. Nemeses Candace appears and demands she keeps the lead but Terry tells Kate to show him the opening number and if she proves she can do it, then she'll have the lead role back.
On stage, Kate struts her stuff and when she finishes, Terry announces “yeah, you'll do” and asks Kate that he doesn't let her down before departing. Kate promises him then goes over to where Candace is standing. She thrusts the hat into Kate's hands with a warning, “this isn't over” before she too departs the stage.
Commercial break later and everyone is getting ready for the opening but Declan's concerned that Kate's ankle is swelling up again. She doesn't want to back out and Terry appears telling everyone to get to their places, its 5 minutes to curtains up.
KATE: I need to do this even if it kills me.
