Recap
- Lyn admitting to Susan that she still loves Paul
- Paul telling Andrew he'll have to work off his debt
- Andrew hoping Paul will give him lots of money
- Lucas making a breakthrough in rehab
- Steph unable to tell Lucas she loves him
Number 26
Lucas tells Steph that he meant what he said and that Steph will have to admit she loves him sooner or later. Steph looks conflicted and doesn't say anything.
The next morning Steph finds Lucas making breakfast (with the aide of just his crutches - Erinsborough: The place of medical miracles™). Lyn walks in not long after and congratulates Lucas on his rehab progress. Feeling awkward, Steph rushes off to work, much to Lucas's disappointment.
Number 30
Steph has made a detour before work, hoping to find Toadie for a chat. Instead she finds Susan lurking about, who tells her Toadie's at a meeting. Susan has been sprucing up Libby's room while she's away and clearing out a box of items belonging to Dan - including a wedding photo. Steph picks it up and stares at it.
SUSAN: I thought mementos lying around, it's just going to bring up bad memories.
STEPH: Yeah you're right, moving on is good.
SUSAN: No point dwelling in the past is there.
Steph takes this advice into consideration.
Number 22
Donna gets annoyed at Andrew for using the last of her shampoo and eating all the cereal. Paul joins them for brekkie and is pleased to see his son reading the business section of the paper. He asks Andrew if he's ready to start work at Lassiter's and pay off his debt. Andrew's keen, until he learns that Declan's going to be his boss.
Later, Andrew scowls as he tries on a uniform for Paul and Declan, complaining that he looks like a waiter. He also complains that the trousers don't fit, so Paul grabs Donna before she heads out.
PAUL: Donna, can you have a bit of a play with Andrew's pants?
DONNA: Sorry?
Paul coerces Donna into making some adjustments before she goes to a meeting with some buyers for her shrugolero. Taking Declan aside, Paul asks him to make sure Andrew knows what a hard day's work is like. Declan is more than happy to oblige.
Lassiter's Complex
Declan is taking Andrew on a tour of the hotel exterior while explaining the ins and outs of the business.
DECLAN: Call the female customers m'am and the male customers sir.
ANDREW: I'm glad you cleared that up.
Declan starts Andrew on some cleaning duties first up. Andrew pulls the "Does my father know you've got me doing this?" card, but Declan just smirks and says he can call Paul and check if he likes. Declan goes inside just as another staff member approaches Andrew - he's down one bar staff helper in the main function room and needs Declan's help. Seeing a way out of Cinderella duty, Andrew lies and says he's 18 and has his RSA - he's the man for the job.
Garage/Number 26
Steph picks up Lucas's work shirt and holds it.
Lucas (holding a mouthful of breakfast on his fork bigger than his head), asks Lyn if he pushed things too far with Steph. But Lyn thinks Steph will eventually come around. She tells him to hang in there and go see Steph at work, but Lucas doesn't see the point if Steph's not interested.
LYN: Sometimes Stephie can be a bit...
LUCAS: Stubborn? Independent? That's why I made it clear how I felt.
LYN: And there is only one way to find out how she feels about you.
Steph makes a phone call to her mate Bazza, telling him she's got a situation at work and she needs to make a few changes.
Lassiter's Complex
Declan searches for Andrew and is annoyed when he finds him heading towards the function room carrying a tray of glasses. Declan tetchily reminds Andrew he's underage and could get Lassiter's into strife if anyone finds out. Paul arrives and discovers what's going on, so Declan has a quiet word with him.
DECLAN: I thought I was pretty clear with Andrew when I told him what his duties were.
PAUL: But...?
(Declan clams up)
PAUL: Declan he's my son and I want him to learn the business, however if you think that I am wasting my time I want you to tell me right now.
First Commercial Break
Charlie's Bar
Andrew's surprised to learn that Declan has taken the blame for him. Declan "explains" that he made a snap decision in a moment of panic and forgot Andrew was only 16. Reciprocating the favour, Andrew adds that it wasn't all Declan's fault, he should have said something too, but Paul's still annoyed with the both of them. When he exits Andrew thanks Declan, but Declan says he didn't do it for him - he did it for Paul.
Harold's Store
Lyn tells Susan she's not so keen on the singles mixer now she's found out Rebecca's running it. Susan assures her that Rebecca will be out of town all week.
SUSAN: Come on, you'll learn how to make cocktails. You might meet a few people.
LYN: ... Never could mix a cocktail.
SUSAN: There you go, you'd be picking up a new skill.
LYN: What if I drink all my mistakes? I could end up doing something I might regret.
SUSAN: (grinning) With any luck!
LYN: Oh you're outrageous.
SUSAN: Come on, Lynnie.
LYN: No Susan. Even if Little Miss Perky's not going to be there I can't give her my business.
Steph arrives and Susan pleads with her to talk some sense into Lyn, but Steph jokes she gave up on that years ago. She orders two coffees and Lyn happily assumes one is for Lucas. She tells Steph she encouraged Lucas to go and see her, but that's the last thing Steph wants. She's making some changes and doesn't need him around right now. Lyn's concerned.
Lassiter's Complex
Declan's pleased to see Andrew picking up trash around the hotel. He takes him inside to show him how the bookings work on the computer but is alarmed when he realised the main function room is double booked. Declan does some quick thinking and realises they'll have to keep the group of businessmen entertained while the conference room is being set up. Andrew offers his assistance so Declan tells him to take the men to Charlie's (just the place for a 16- year- old who just got in trouble for being near alcohol).
Harold's Store
Donna happily shows Susan all the business cards she scored today from her meeting. Susan pulls Lyn over and asks Donna, as an up and coming fashionista, what she'd do with Lyn's style if she had a meeting with some "single people". Donna smiles and says Lyn always looks nice so she recommends more of the same. Oh how I wish Donna knew Lynnie in her leopard- print phase.
Donna leaves just as Lucas wheels in (his miracle crutches on the back). He's all happy joy joy until Lynnie not so subtly hints that he needs to stay away from the garage. She puts the idea in his head that Steph's got someone else, so Lucas is pretty aggro when Steph shows up.
STEPH: (smiling) We need to talk.
LUCAS: (glaring at Lyn) Apparently talking isn't a good idea.
STEPH: What?
LUCAS: OK talk.
STEPH: No, not here.
LUCAS: What's wrong, too ashamed to sack me in public?
Steph's very confused.
Second Commercial Break
Garage
Lucas tells Steph not to keep stringing him along - sack him and be done with it - but Steph says he should never listen to her mother. She shows him a wheeler that she had decked out with tools so he could keep working. Steph also had some benches lowered for easier access.
STEPH: I think you should come back here part time. Not that I don't want you here full time, it's not that I'm sick of you, not at all. I really like having you stay at the house and I am so proud of your recovery. I just don't want you to over- do it. So if there's anything else I can do...
LUCAS: (taking her hand) Steph.
STEPH: Yeah?
LUCAS: I love you.
STEPH: (giving in) I love you too.
They smile and share a kiss.
Charlie's Bar
Steph and Lucas smooch over their "celebration coffees" much to Lyn and Susan's delight. Steph confirms that they're together and Lyn says she wants all the goss later (Susan gives Steph the thumbs up, heh).
Anyway, Susan has dragged Lyn along to check out potential dates that might rock up for the mixer (for example, all the dashing businessmen that Andrew is trying to keep entertained). The best thing about them is that none of their names are Paul Robinson.
Declan rocks up to tell Andrew that the conference room is ready. Andrew praises Declan for thinking on his feet and Declan replies that's why he's Paul's right- hand man. Andrew looks a bit put- out by this.
Number 22
Donna excitedly tells Declan and Andrew that she just got a call from a buyer who wants to stock her shrugoleros. They congratulate her and Declan gives her a high- five. Andrew asks if she'd be able to make permanent alterations to his trousers - the pins are sticking into him. When Donna agrees Andrew drops his dacks and stands there in his boxers much to Donna's embarrassment and Declan's bewilderment.
DECLAN: Woah, I think she meant maybe later.
ANDREW: It's nothing she hasn't seen before.
(Donna = alarmed, Declan = confused)
ANDREW: You know, being in the fashion industry and all that.
DECLAN: Yeah, right. You are one seriously weird dude.
Donna shoots daggers Andrew's way as Paul arrives home and compliments Andrew on his good work today. Paul thinks Andrew was the one who came up with the idea to take the businessmen over to Charlie's and re- dress the conference room, and Andrew isn't about to correct him. Declan seethes in the background.
Third Commercial Break
Number 22
Donna is giddily telling Paul all about her business deal. But Paul is concerned to learn that she's hazy on the manufacturing details or what her mark- up is.
PAUL: Donna I thought you said you wrote a business plan?
DONNA: Yeah I did.
PAUL: Then isn't all that information supposed to be in there?
DONNA: I'm just more of a broad strokes kind of gal.
PAUL: You know as your guarantor we're going to have to discuss this...
DONNA: Can you just be happy for me?
PAUL: ... Over dinner at Lanzini's.
DONNA: Really? Oh my goodness, what should I wear?! Maybe a shrugolero, I should get them out there.
PAUL: Now you're talking like a businesswoman.
They head out leaving Declan and Andrew alone in the kitchen. Declan makes it clear to Andrew that he's ticked off about Andrew taking credit for things he hasn't done.
DECLAN: We are a team. We give credit where credit's due.
ANDREW: You jealous?
DECLAN: What? Are you serious?
ANDREW: I don't blame you. Must be pretty hard knowing however hard you work, whatever you do, you're just never going to be Paul's son. Unlike me who'll one day be your boss too.
Declan looks like he wants to deck Andrew.
