Rebecca telling Kate that her and Declan would be good together
Donna telling Kate to stop thinking about Declan
Kate turning down Declan
Lou applying to be the Ramsay kids guardian
Paul and Rebecca getting married and Lyn being upset
Andrew owing money and Rebecca stopping him from leaving
Rebecca and Declan get excited over India having five teeth. They are, however, less than excited by the smell coming from her nappy, and Declan goes to change her.
Andrew comes down the stairs and Rebecca thinks this must mean he's decided to stay. Andrew doesn't think he has much choice.
Ringo and Declan are taking the mick out of Zeke wanting a year out. They think it's just an excuse for him to ‘bludge'. Zeke says it's not unusual for people to take a gap year before uni.
KATE: Can I get you guys anything?
ZEKE: Yeah, can I get a cupcake please?
RINGO: A cupcake is pretty hard work. Are you sure you don't want to take a year off first?
Kate looks confused, and Ringo also orders himself a cupcake. Kate makes her way to clear another table and drops some things on the floor. Declan gets up to help her pick them up and they talk. He asks her about her busy life – that Donna told him about. Kate, at first, is confused and denies being busy, but then realises what Donna has been saying and says that, yes, she has been very busy.
Andrew is writing a list, surrounded by food. He gives the list to Rebecca telling her that it's his list of things he eats, he also leaves her to clear up his mess – as that's what his mum always did.
REBECCA: Ahh right, well, things are a bit different around here.
ANDREW: Maybe things need to change.
Andrew goes upstairs and Rebecca screws up his list of what he likes to eat just as Declan enters.
He tells Rebecca all about the conversation he's just had with Kate and how she didn't seem to actually be busy at all. Rebecca catches on to the bit about Donna, and Declan goes to check on India.
Ringo mentions Andrew to Donna and she gets all jumpy and changes the subject - she'd like to go camping. A romantic trip away. Ringo thinks she's kidding, with all the dirt and insects etc, but Donna insists she's not. He says he'll look into it.
Rebecca comes in and asks to talk to Donna. They move away from Ringo. On questioning, Donna admits that she said that Kate was busy – because she is! She starts rambling and Rebecca stop her.
DONNA: [pause] Declan's not ready to move on.
Rebecca gives her a small smile.
REBECCA: Isn't that his decision?
DONNA: [getting teary] Dec and Didge belonged together...it's too soon.
Rebecca puts her arms around her and explains that Declan can't wait forever to move on, and that they should just see if there's anything there.
Lou is moving in – with a lot of boxes! They thank him for helping them. Sophie takes Lou to unpack and Kate spots a bill she needs to pay. But, Lou's already paid it. Harry explains that this is what having a guardian is about – she doesn't have to be their guardian anymore. He tries to dance with her – telling her she can be a kid, go to parties and get in to trouble. She could even get a boyfriend!
Harry's set up the video player and Sophie can't believe how big a video tape is. Lou is all set to show the Ramsay's ‘Morcambe and Wise' when Donan enters, with Declan in tow. Lou, Sophie and Harry exit and Donna sits Kate and Declan down. She explains what she did – and that she lied to Declan about Kate being busy.
DECLAN: Why would you do that?
DONNA: I...was worried we'd forget about Bridget. I'm really, really sorry.
Declan looks like he's about to explode.
He stands up to face her, very angry.
DECLAN: [through gritted teeth] Didge was my wife, do you really think I need you to remind me of that? Who the hell do you think you are?
He storms out.
Kate's making a cup of coffee and Declan comes in. He rants about Donna and how out of line she was – as if he could forget about Didge.
DECLAN: It wasn't easy for me to ask you out, either. It's not like I didn't think about it...
Kate understands that he's not ready. Declan gets all awkward and shy and says that he asked her out because he wanted to – which means he is ready. He asks her for dinner and a film tonight, to which Kate agrees. They call it a date. Declan leave sand Kate smiles and does a little dance.
Harry hasn't come out with enough money and so Andrew shouts his food for him. Rebecca introduces them as cousins. They agree to meet another time. Lyn comes over to Rebecca. Lyn wonders if she has any regrets and Rebecca says it's only that they didn't get married sooner. Rebecca gloats about a Christmas wedding.
LYN: Yeah. Are you going to buy something before you leave?
REBECCA: [pretending to think] I was going to buy Lucas some flowers...but they just look so old and tired. A bit like everything else round here.
1-0 to Rebecca, methinks. She leaves, and Andrew and Lyn get to know one another.
Rebecca comes home holding some flowers to hear Lyn in her living room “oh are those for me?”. Rebecca makes it very clear to Andrew that Lyn isn't welcome in her house, but Andrew says that Lyn is his guest and he invited her. Lyn opts to leave and Rebecca warns Andrew that Lyn is not his friend and she is not welcome. Andrew informs Rebecca that she is.
ANDREW: What's wrong? You wanted me to stay.
Outside Harold's Store
Lou's telling Harry and Sophie about Morcambe and Wise, whilst Donna, Ringo and Zeke sit down at a table nearby. Donna is upset about what's happened and she needs to apologise to Kate. They tell Harry, Sophie and Lou about Kate and Declan's date. They all set off for home to get the gossip!
Rebecca apologies to Andrew for threatening to go to the police. She isn't going to stop him leaving, if he wants to. She can't force him to stay if he doesn't want to stick around to get to know Paul. Andrew doesn't appreciate her niceties.
Donna's come round to apologise. Kate forgives her and Donna comes in with her make-up and hair goodies!
Ringo and Zeke visit Declan.
Kate tells Donna what she's going to wear. Donna lays down the rules – Delcan should pay, and do all the talking.
KATE: Donna, Declan and I, we don't need any of that stuff. We're friends.
DONNA: You sound so together.
KATE: Do I? I feel sick...
Ringo and Zeke tease Declan.
Lou teases Kate about a curfew. She goes to get changed.
Zeke and Ringo wish Declan good luck and wish him a good night.
Rebecca lies India down and Kate arrives. Rebecca goes upstairs and leaves them alone. They awkwardly talk about going, whilst India grizzles in the background. Declan hasn't got his wallet and goes to get it from upstairs. India cries and Kate talks to her, before picking her up to soothe her. She sits down with her, and plays with her.
Declan comes down and demands that Kate hands India to him. Kate does so.
Rebecca comes to take India off Declan and wishes him and Kate a good night. Declan acts as if everything is normal, whilst Kate is looking upset.
KATE: What just happened? I was holding her because she was crying.
DECLAN: I don't know, I just freaked out.
KATE: Because I was holding her?
Declan's face says it all, and Kate walks out – saying that this was a mistake. She gets outside the door and cries, and Declan looks as if he thinks he's blown it too.
Harry has a go at Declan.
Declan and Kate sitting down and talking, as she gets to go up, Declan grabs her hand.
DECLAN: I want to be here.
HARRY: Declan is so messed up.
Kate telling Lou that his parenting ideas aren't helping.
Ben taking a baseball bat to his bike, he's angry about Dan.
SUSAN: [to Libby] He's sad. And he's letting it out. Now it's your turn.
