Recap
- Toadie spying on Lucas and Sonya having coffee
- Lucas not telling Toadie how he knows Sonya
- Ringo lying to James about Donna being on holiday
- James pretending he doesn't know Ringo
- Donna yelling at Ringo for interfering in her life
Number 28
Ringo does a few internet searches: James Linden + music promoter (0 results), James Linden (9, 243 results) and James Linden + Brisbane (280 results). He looks frustrated that the searches aren't narrower. Sunny and Zeke bring the last of Zeke's belongings over from #32 - now they just have to break the news to Mr and Mrs Lee. Zeke reminds Ringo that Donna wants them all to meet up with her and James later, but Ringo doesn't think he should tag along.
Harold's Store
Donna introduces James to Kate, Harry, Sunny and Zeke and brings out a photo of her dad that James brought her. Kate reckons Donna has her dad's eyes. James takes a work call while Donna tells the gang that her bro's a music promoter. Ringo and Declan arrive - Ringo starts to apologise to Donna, but she doesn't want to hear it. She's annoyed that James could've left town and never met her because of Ringo's lie. Harry finds Kate doing some twirls in the kitchen and says she should get back into dancing, but Kate dismisses the idea.
Allotment
Dan thanks Lucas for building a chicken coop for their school sustainability project and tries to get the goss about why Toadie's in a bad mood, but Lucas claims he has no idea. All the teens (minus Declan) check out the coop, but Sunny isn't keen on the chooks (their beady little eyes freak her out). Ringo, Kate and Sunny head back to school for Geography class leaving Donna and Zeke to chat. Zeke says he's sorry for giving her a hard time about the vlog and he's glad it worked out - he'd been feeling guilty.
DONNA: You were just trying to protect me.
ZEKE: I deleted an email. It was from a guy called Nick and he said he was your father. I was loading that program and the email popped up... I was just in a weird place.
DONNA: What, so you just deleted it?
ZEKE: I'm just glad it worked out in the end.
DONNA: Yeah lucky for you! Still... That guy would have had to be a fake because my dad died like a year ago.
Erinsborough High
Sunny's still limping from her high heel debacle but isn't deterred from learning to dance. Donna reckons Kate should teach the whole school how to dance so they can all look hot, but Kate thinks that's the worst idea ever. She just wants one night where the only person she has to think about is herself. Meanwhile, Kyle has been eavesdropping on Kate in the background.
Harry and Zeke walk in where Kyle promptly tells Harry that his sister is scrubbing up alright. Just what a brother wants to hear. Kyle tries to talk up the deb ("You get to score with hot chicks!"), but only piques Harry's interest. Kyle then departs more wisdom on the young Ramsay.
KYLE: Two words, dude. After. Party. That's what it's really about. See I think it's the white dresses they wear, it does something to their heads, gets them all romantic. Then the after party fires up and they just start jumping on guys.
HARRY: (grinning) Serious?
KYLE: Dude, it's guaranteed action.
Harry has no idea who he'd go with, but he wants in on that action!
Down the hall, Ringo is still conducting his internet searches, but this time he's trying an Independent Record Companies Database. He types in a few variations of James Linden/Chunky Mango but doesn't get any results. Declan strolls over and shows Ringo a pic of India on his phone - she's always smiling these days. Dan finds the boys and tries to give Declan some special consideration forms for his Biology SAC tomorrow, but Declan insists he doesn't need them. Dec sees what Ringo's up to and reminds him that he'll get a one-way ticket to Dumpsville if Donna finds out.
DECLAN: So what are you looking for anyway?
RINGO: I don't know yet.
Harold's Store
James orders a coffee from Elle and they share a nice moment, which catches Elle off-guard (in a good way). Ringo walks in and confronts James about his music company not appearing on the net. James tells Ringo the company's only new, but he has a demo CD with him of the first band they signed - The Holdover. He's also got the band's manager, Brett, on speed-dial. Ringo's taken aback when James calls Brett there and then to have a chat on speakerphone.
JAMES: (to Ringo) You must be pretty desperate to get rid of me. Like I said, I don't want to cause anymore trouble. So I'll keep this conversation between us as long as this ends right now.
Ringo looks troubled.
Erinsborough High
Donna's still frosty with Ringo until he assures her that he's going to support her from now on. Giving Ringo a hug, Donna's relieved he's stopped with the "protective caveman thing", because she wants him to be as excited as she is. Her excitement deflates, however, when Ringo says there's one condition: he wants Donna to ask James for a DNA test. Donna huffs that she doesn't need proof, she already knows James is for real, but Ringo thinks that if James is as sure as he says he is then he won't have a problem with it.
Out in the hallway, Sunny and Zeke find Kyle rummaging around in his locker for a week-old cheese sandwich to eat. Harry sidles up to Kyle for more deb talk and asks if you have to be in Year 12 to go. Kyle replies no, but you *do* have to be asked by a chick. He reckons that Harry might struggle because he's only in Year 10, but Kyle will ask around for him. Taking a bite out of his manky sandwich, Kyle makes a face and throws it in the bin.
KYLE: Give us two bucks and I'll help you. Come on, I just want a sausage roll from the canteen.
(Harry hands the money over)
KYLE: Look you might have to go with a chick that's a bit average but you can trade up at the after party.
Kyle says he'll do some research and get back to Harry - but he owes him big time.
Dan finds Donna alone in the classroom and she asks him his thoughts on DNA testing - pretending it's for a genetics assignment. Dan thinks it's a good idea, it's a technology that serves a purpose. Donna thanks him and leaves just as Lucas drops by for a chat with his bro. He hands Dan his labourer's donation, but Dan is more interested in talking about Toadie and Sonya (he found out all the goss from another source).
LUCAS: You too, ay? Nice of people to jump to conclusions.
DAN: Well Toadie saw you, mate.
LUCAS: Yes he saw me having a coffee with her. I know her but there's nothing going on between us.
DAN: So why does Toadie think there is?
LUCAS: Because Elle put it in his head, Libby's too. I heard the whole story.
DAN: Alright, so what is going on?
LUCAS: I can't tell you. It's important to someone that I keep it on the quiet.
DAN: I reckon it's pretty important to Toadie too.
LUCAS: Can you please just trust me on this one?
Charlie's Bar
Lucas is trying to make it clear to Elle that he's not seeing Sonya, but Elle doesn't believe him.
ELLE: I can see the rehabilitation hasn't worked, you still can't take responsibility.
LUCAS: OK how about you stop and think that once, maybe just once, not everything is about you!
Elle just gives him a haughty look and thinks he's trying to deflect blame, which just angers Lucas more. James walks in just as Lucas starts to raise his voice.
LUCAS: Not everything that happens in this world is designed to hurt you!
ELLE: Why are you lying to me?
LUCAS: I am not lying, Elle!
James steps in and tells Lucas to tone it down, but Lucas is like, 'Excuse me?!' James says he's just looking out for Elle and that all the patrons don't really want to hear Lucas's ranting and raving either, so why doesn't he just move along? Sighing, Lucas gives in and leaves (while random extras Harry Potter, Ron and Hermione throw him disapproving looks in the background - seriously!). James checks that Elle's OK but she says she's fine.
Erinsborough High
Kyle's about to hand Harry the list of names he was after, but Kyle has added something to the $2 fee - he wants Harry to talk Kate into going to the deb with him. Harry's slightly weirded out, but the prospect of getting the names is enough to sway him. Meanwhile, Kate has heard the whole conversation and is disgusted. She lets Kyle know she wouldn't go out with him if he were the last person alive, and drags Harry away to berate him. She doesn't want him anywhere near the deb because he shouldn't be there - he'll get his own chance when he's in Year 12.
HARRY: It's not just the year twelves it's whoever gets asked. And if I get asked I'm going. Deal with it.
Harold's Store
Harry's annoyed with Kate dictating his life but wants to know if he doesn't hang out with Kyle anymore then can he go to the deb. But Kate's all, "Uh, no", which makes Harry even moodier.
Over at a table, James and Elle are having coffees. James is asking about Rebecca running Charlie's and says he could probably get Drastical (one of his bands) to play there. Rebecca would have to front up some cash first but James says she'd be guaranteed a return. James gets a text from Donna, who wants him to meet her at #22 for an urgent matter. Elle says it's been nice to get to know him better. She's all smiles until she sees Lucas walk in. Lucas spots her with James, rolls his eyes, and leaves.
JAMES: So things between you guys...
ELLE: Oh we are so over.
JAMES: Right. Good. And for what it's worth, he's mad for letting you go.
Elle looks chuffed.
Number 22
Donna's stunned that James has just happily agreed to a DNA test. James claims he was going to suggest it himself but didn't want to rush things. Relieved, Donna's glad James doesn't hate her and says it was Ringo's idea (who is sitting with them). Donna leaps up to make celebratory hot chocolates but has to duck out to the shops for milk. Things are tense when the boys are left alone.
JAMES: Couldn't let it go could you.
RINGO: If you've got nothing to hide then the DNA test shouldn't be a problem.
JAMES: Bring it on.
Harold's Store
Sunny and Zeke are studying away while Declan (holding India) reads a text from Rebecca, who is on her way home from her honeymoon. Sunny asks Dec if he studied for the Biology SAC but Declan reckons he'll nail it. They take a break to get some chips and Zeke tenses up when Sunny throws her pen down on the table. He starts to arrange them in his usual pattern, but then gets annoyed with himself and messes them up.
Kate fronts up to Kyle and orders him to stay away from Harry; he doesn't need people like Kyle giving him stupid ideas. Annoyed, Kyle follows her into the kitchen for a chat. He doesn't get why it's such a big deal if Harry goes to the deb. Kate sighs and explains that it's her one night to be responsibility-free.
KYLE: OK.
KATE: Really?
KYLE: One condition, but. You do the deb with me.
KATE: No way.
KYLE: Fine, no deal then.
KATE: We're not even friends!
KYLE: You trying to hurt my feelings? Make me your partner or I'll give those names to your brother. That's the deal, take it or leave it.
Kate is not impressed.
Lassiter's Complex
Harry overhears Kyle acting like a tool about Kate in front of some mates and angrily confronts him.
HARRY: What did you say?
KYLE: Nothing.
HARRY: You said something about my sister.
KYLE: She asked me to be her deb partner, what's it to you?
HARRY: She thinks you're a moron.
KYLE: Well she asked me, alright. And she doesn't want you going either so I guess you're out buddy boy.
HARRY: You're so full of it.
KYLE: It's the truth. Your sister doesn't want you going to the deb because you might see her getting jiggy with the K-Man.
Harry shoves Kyle but his mates step in to stop him.
KYLE: Your sister wants me, dude, and she can have me. Till I dump her for someone better.
He pushes Harry away and walks off with his cronies leaving Harry to fume.

(Tomorrow on Neighbours)
HARRY: You're not expecting anyone else? Kyle?
KATE: No.
HARRY: He's bragging to his mates about scoring with you. What is with you?
(Rebecca (and Paul) chat to Declan in Charlie's)
REBECCA: Now what about school, are you catching up?
DECLAN: Yep.
REBECCA: (disbelieving) Declan.
(Declan can't concentrate on his Biology SAC at school)
(Rebecca sees Lyn (and Steph) in the bar and fumes)
REBECCA: (shoving Paul aside) Excuse me.
PAUL: Rebecca wait...
LYN: Look who it is. Are you more relaxed?
REBECCA: Oh I will relax when you leave.
STEPH: Mum...
(A 'For sale' sign goes up at #26 - Lyn is pleased)
LYN: That's interesting.
