Zeke tells Sunny he loves her and she doesn't say anything in return. Later Donna says Zeke's feeling rejected and acting out and Sunny thinks it's down to something she's done.
Steph denies that she has a crush on Lucas but gives him a lingering look at the garage, later telling Rebecca about a mystery bloke she likes.
Lucas gambling at the garage and Steph interrupting it.
Steph is sitting, not very pleased, silently communicating this with Lucas. She pretends to Johnno and his mates that Lucas has to leave so they can have dinner with her mother. But Johnno believes they have time for another hand and when Lucas tries to stand up, he's ordered to sit back down. Lucas looks worried but does as he's told.
Didge, Donna and Sunny are stocking up on snacks for school. Didge notices India is restless and Donna comes away with a breast pump (which she thinks is a drink bottle) out of Didge's backpack instead of a dummy. Didge quickly puts it away as Sunny remarks she doesn't know how Didge will handle India when she gets back to school - what about her feeds? Didge explains she has help from India's grandparents and she'll use what Donna thought was a cool drink bottle to express milk for India during the day. Looking at cute India, Sunny still doesn't know how Didge can bear to leave her. As Didge dotes on her daughter thoughtfully, Sunny runs off in search of Wasabi peas.
Steph watches the game, uneasily. She seems to know what's going on – I haven't a clue – but from the expressions on Steph's face, it's getting serious. Lucas triumphs and Steph's relieved, until Lucas decides they should have another game. That wasn't meant to happen...
Zeke comes in and Sunny tenses up; they exchange pleasantries and the moment Zeke leaves to pick up Charlie from crèche, Donna and Didge demand to know what's going on. Sunny reveals Zeke told her he loved her but she didn't say anything in return. Donna deduces that she's too shy to say it – not to worry, she will find a way! But it's clear that's not Sunny's problem.
Elle runs in, annoyed with Lucas for abandoning her with India. But Lucas ain't home...
Instead he's smiling, having won again. He requests to be dealt out of the game but he's dealt in again anyway and so just accepts it instead of protesting further. Lucas rejects a call from Elle but then she retries and Steph encourages him to take the call; she ends up taking Lucas' cards and place at the table.
Away from the table Lucas answers an angry Elle, who tears into him for abandoning her and promises him to fill him in on all the baby details later, whether he likes it or not! Lucas sees an opportunity and tells Elle he'll be right there ASAP, bringing an ice cold beer – just keep the engine running, mate. Elle is irritated with his cuteness and hangs up.
Lucas returns to find Steph's lost the game and Johnno suggesting they go again.
Sunny is so embarrassed as she and Didge await Donna. Kate passes by, holding a Psychology textbook in an obvious way which is a perfect prompt for Didge to mention she's doing Psych too and offers to study with her. Kate thinks Didge'll be too busy with India to study but Didge needs to put the hours in if she wants to do medicine. Kate is impressed – she barely has time herself to brush her hair!
SUNNY: It's okay – the messy look suits you.
Kate doesn't take this remark particularly well. Luckily Donna returns to distract Sunny – she has a bunch of balloons and has written ‘I Love You Zeke' in pen on some of them, leaving Sunny to decorate the rest, using her own words. Sunny is still trying to work out how to respond when Zeke and Charlie come in, leading her to burst some of the balloons in desperation (which wee Charlie isn't too keen on). She then runs out.
Steph whispers to Lucas that they have to get out of here.
LUCAS: It's not quite that simple.
Lucas goes to the fridge to get some beers, giving him and Steph a better chance to talk. There he confesses to Steph that he borrowed $4000 from Johnno and he's just about lost it all. Steph tells him to work something out – he's digging himself a deeper hole.
Returning to the table area, Lucas pauses by a tower of tyres, then pushes them over, creating a diversion so he and Steph can escape. Outside the garage, Lucas locks Johnno and his mates inside. (Probably not a good idea, Lucas, to leave a bunch of bad guys inside with all your takings, stock etc...)
Holding hands, Lucas and Steph flee through gaps in fences and into a random building, just as his peeved gambling buddies give chase.
Steph and Lucas stand still as someone tries the door but finds it locked. The gamblers leave. Steph stops holding her breath and she and Lucas stand with their heads very close together. They look up and at each other for a few seconds and it looks like there might be a kiss but nah, Steph instead stutters something about checking Johnno and his crew have gone. Lucas steps outside as Steph heaves a deep breath at their close call.
After the ads Lucas returns to Steph, believing Johnno has gone. Steph asks who they were and isn't pleased with Lucas bringing the game to the garage. And rightly so as they find the garage has been trashed with the takings gone. Lucas is adamant Johnno will be back for his money. Steph encourages him to call the cops but he can't. He doesn't know what to do but he'll think of something. He's sorry for dragging her into it but she's glad they're mates as being chased by thugs isn't in her job description. Lucas then wonders what he's going to tell Elle.
Charlie and Zeke turn up and Steph and Lucas try and act like everything is okay.
Kate sneaks in and Didge tells her to go ahead. Spotting Sunny, Didge tells her that Donna was only trying to help. Sunny doesn't need help; maybe it's private.
Donna comes in, with a big coat on. Underneath, she's wearing her cheerleading outfit and performs a cheer for Zeke that Sunny can perform for him.
DONNA: Zekey, Zekey, you're so hot; I just want to pick you up! Zekey, Zekey, you make me sway; You make me crazy every day!
But Sunny's embarrassment has turned into something more serious and she confesses to the concerned girls that she can't say it back because she's not sure she loves him.
In the locker room Sunny admits she doesn't know whether it's love when she hasn't been in love before. Donna assures her that when it happens, she'll know, but Didge admits it snuck on her with Declan. Sunny asks how she was sure then. Didge thinks she always loved him but it took a while for her head to catch up. Sunny wishes there was a way to tell. Donna says you think about them all the time and when you're around them, your heart races; sweaty palms, butterflies in the stomach...
SUNNY (perplexed): So if he makes you feel like you're going to throw up, that's love.
DIDGE: Pretty much.
Sunny thinks she feels like that around Zeke, plus she gets *really* annoyed...Didge thinks she needs to talk to him.
Lucas shouts at Elle to open the door but Elle wants to hear him apologise for stranding her at the Parker babyfest and taking so long to get home. Lucas says the fuel pump took longer to install than he thought and he's sorry. Elle wants an apology with meaning and goes to the door but it's only to slam it shut. She chuckles to herself for what she's put him through and is about to let him in only to discover Steve there and Lucas vanished! He's brought stain remover for Elle's baby spew decorated shirt. Steve remarks about such things being part of the course – she'll discover that when she has kids but Elle retorts she won't be having any as she's done with men!
Zeke is talking to Charlie about how it's bad when a woman says nothing – it means the calm before the storm. Steph is wandering about in her own wee world, thinking of Lucas and their ‘moment' earlier that day. Snapping back to reality, she asks what Zeke's teaching Charlie. Charlie runs off so Zeke can tell Steph about Sunny not saying she loved him back. She commends him on being brave enough to tell her how he feels – at least Sunny knows.
There's a knock at the door; it's Lucas, in pursuit of a hot shower and a cold drink. You can see the wheels in Steph's mind turning as he strolls in – oh dear.
Sunny wraps a box in pretty flowered silk material.
Steph manically clears away Charlie's toys as Zeke watches, then leaves. The shower is running.
Sunny and Zeke were both in about to go see each other and now they can't decide who should speak first. Finally Sunny tells Zeke that no boy has ever told her he loved her and she thought all the things she was feeling meant she was going down with the flu. She unveils the box she wrapped; it's a traditional doll she and her grandmother made out of paper. It's very important in Korea so you give it to someone special and she wants to give the one she made to Zeke. Zeke takes it and tells her he loves her too. They kiss. Aww.
Lucas comes in fresh from the shower, towel drying his hair. He's wearing one of Greg's robes. He sits down, admitting he's made a mess of things. Steph asks what he's going to do about Johnno but Lucas would rather face loads of Johnnos than one Elle. Steph doesn't think he should write Johnno off so easily. Lucas replies he'll get his money, but he might have to wait a while. Steph thinks fair enough, if he hasn't put him in hospital first. Lucas asks Steph if she thinks he should tell Elle but Steph doesn't think she's the right person to ask. Lucas is confused. Steph wants to know what's going on.
STEPH: We had a ‘moment' this afternoon. And now tonight here you are on my couch. What's the story?
Lucas looks at her for a few seconds, then gets up and leaves the room without saying a word.
Now dressed, Lucas thanks Steph for the use of her shower. Steph says she had to be honest but Lucas denies there's anything there. Steph replies that he flirts with her constantly and today they almost kissed. But Lucas thinks they're nothing but mates.
STEPH: Right so you're saying I'm imagining it?
LUCAS: Yeah I am.
STEPH (disbelieving): Lucas...
LUCAS: I've got to go home. To Elle.
Lucas leaves and Steph storms off to her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
