- Toadie not reacting well to Bob having a tumour
- Steve calling Steph for re-enforcements
Vet Clinic
Toadie's sitting outside another vet clinic with Bob to get a second opinion, but can't bring himself to go inside. Steph rings his mobile but he doesn't answer it. Libby and Dan pull up in the car behind him to try and coax him home, but Toadie doesn't want them to see how upset he is. He picks up Bob and walks off.
Harold's Store
Elle has told Rebecca about her Lucas woes, but Rebecca is convinced that Paul is the puppet master behind everything. She tells Elle that Paul sees Lucas as a threat and isn't going to change; but Elle can.
ELLE: What do I need to change?
REBECCA: You need to change your relationship with your dad. You've got to put yourself first. You have to change your whole agenda.
ELLE: I already do that.
But the look Rebecca gives her suggests otherwise. Steph interrupts to ask them if they've seen Toadie, filling them in about Bob.
Charlie's Bar
Libby and Dan have also just told Susan the sad news. She wonders if Callum knows, but Libby says he stayed with Mickey last night. Steph and Rebecca join them, but then everyone pushes off on their Toadie search (minus Rebecca).
Rebecca sees Paul at the bar and tells him off for making Elle miserable. But Paul snits that Lucas isn't right for his daughter - just like Andrew wasn't right for Rebecca. He leaves and Rebecca huffs and puffs to Ty about it, but Ty's being a mopey-pants and couldn't care less. Rebecca sees Lucas walk in and urges Ty to give Elle a ring.
Later, Rebecca and Ty watch Lucas and Elle chat, but Elle has a huge scowl on her face. Rebecca's worried, but Ty's like, "Whatevs". At the table, Lucas is hazy on how much of a commitment Elle wants to make with him, but Elle sighs and says he can't make her choose.
LUCAS: No I can't, but if I don't hear from you I know where I stand.
Lassiter's Park
Toadie's still in denial and tells Bob that they'll chase some birds when he's feeling better. Steph and Libby find him and try to talk him into going home and telling Callum the sad news, but Toadie states there's nothing to tell. Steph and Libby have a quiet chat and decide they need to bring in the big guns - Susan.
Susan gently pats Toadie on the head and sits down on the grass next to him. Susan knows he wouldn't want Bob to suffer through anymore pain, but Toadie bemoans that life goes by too fast.
TOADIE: If something did happen to you, what about Karl? And the kids? If something happens to me, what about Callum? As far as he's concerned I'm all he's got.
SUSAN: I don't know, Toadie. None of us know what's going to happen. I just don't believe there's any point worrying about it. And what you had with Bob, and what you have right now with Callum is wonderful. So just enjoy it. Make the most of it.
TOADIE: (upset) If I take him to Steve then that's it. It's final.
SUSAN: I know, but you'll still have all of us who love you and you'll still have Callum.
She rubs Toadie's back while his little bottom lip trembles. Aww, Toad.
Erinsborough Vet Clinic
Dan, Libby, Steve, Susan and Steph wait in the foyer while Toadie tells Callum the news in the surgery. Callum pouts and says that Bob doesn't want to go (and the poor dog doesn't either - he's reclining back, waiting for a belly rub). The Ramsay Street-ers talk about having a little send-off for Bob, but Toadie just ends up going somewhere quiet with Callum and Bob.
Park
Toadie's gloomy that Bob can't run around anymore, but cracks a smile when Callum offers to do the running around for him. Things get solemn again when they watch a random extra run around with his healthy dog in the background. Callum and Toadie sit and chill with Bob - then the screen fades to black, except for a white glow around the dog. Cheesy but sad. R.I.P little dude.
Number 30
Dan, Miranda, Didge and Declan sit with Toadie while he stares at Bob's empty basket. He can't believe that Bob could survive through two car accidents but not this. Steph comes back from Callum's room and reports that the boys are making a web page in dedication to Bob. Didge offers to get some photos she has of Bob and Jake. Toadie says he'll scatter Bob's ashes at the lake tomorrow (after Steph approves it with the council), before Dan ushers everyone out to give Toad some space. Once he's left alone, Toadie takes another look at the empty basket and starts to cry. Aww.
Harold's Store
Didge and Declan chat to Elle and discover that she's trying to work out who Lost Boy is. Didge reckons that his identity should remain a mystery. Elle gets cranky with them and Declan figures out it's Lucas-related. Elle snits that they've got nothing to complain about - they're happy, in love and have a baby on the way. Dec and Didge are like, 'Uh, hold the phone. We had footy and medical careers in mind before this baby surprise, so life isn't always mapped out'. This gives Elle food for thought.
Elle's Bedroom
Elle picks up a framed photo of Lucas and smiles at it, but then puts it in her bedside drawer. She looks at all of Lucas's belongings around the room before unhappily flopping down on to her bed next to Albert bear.
Elle's Bedroom - Next Morning
Paul brings Elle a cup of tea and notices that she's packed up Lucas's stuff into a box. He can't help a small smile from curling up his mouth.
PAUL: So you made your choice then, ay?
But she only thanks him for the tea and sends him out.
Number 30
Dan, Libby, Steph, Susan, Didge, Declan and Miranda have all joined Toadie for a 'farewell Bob' brekkie, which includes mini pizzas. Does all this fuss seem OTT to anyone else or am I being a heartless witch? Steph urges Toadie to eat up but he says he's fine. Miranda's happy because she got to organize an event, then gets onto the topic of having a baby shower for Didge. Didge is enthused, but wants to include the guys as well. Steve brings Bob's ashes in an urn and passes them to Toadie - who accidentally spills them onto the carpet. Everyone gapes in shock. Unable to think of another way, Susan suggests they use the dust buster and put the ashes into a lunch box. Toadie's like, '.... Go for it'.
Lassiter's Lake
Everyone gathers on the pier while Toadie says a few words about Bob.
TOADIE: His breath was a worry and he left a few surprises on the carpet for me, but he was always there for me. He helped me through some very tough times. But life isn't about what you've lost or what you may lose, it's about what you've got. So I want to thank you all for being here today. (He puts an arm around Callum) Especially you, mate. Take it easy, Bob. I love ya, and I'll miss ya.
He turns around and scatters Bob's ashes into the water. Charlie calls out, "Good dog", and everyone follows suit.
Charlie's Bar
Libby, Lucas and Rebecca can't help having a giggle about poor Bob ending up in a lunch box, but Ty doesn't crack a smile. Rebecca says he's been grumpy for days.
LIBBY: You haven't heard from Rach?
TY: Oh, I've heard from her...
Ooh, trouble in paradise. Ooh, who cares. The girls leave Lucas when Elle comes in for a chat. Lucas thinks he's about to be dumped, but it's not the case. She packed up his stuff but it felt wrong. Elle admits she doesn't know what sort of relationship she wants, but she knows she wants it to be with Lucas.
ELLE: Dad's always going to be a part of my life but you're my future... I hope?
Smiling, Lucas gives her a hug and kiss in response. Elle's pleased but now she has a new task - delivering the news to Paul.
Number 22
Paul can't believe Elle didn't choose him, but Elle replies that she needs to move on with her life.
PAUL: You think he's going to make a commitment do you?
ELLE: You said I deserve to know where I stand. So I want to give him every chance to show me that. But that can't happen with you in the house... I need you to move out.
PAUL: Darling, no...
ELLE: Look, dad, it's not going to work. I want you to go.
Paul's crestfallen.
