Erinsborough Hospital
Karl, Libby, Paul and Rebecca rush to the hospital to find Susan, much to Karl's relief. Susan asks if they've heard about Elle. Paul says he was hoping Susan might know something. She tells him she last saw her at the Milk Bar. When Ferguson saw the paper, he took off with her in the car. She tells him she was having a panic attack at the time. He is clearly distressed and realises that it brought back memories of the roof collapse. He asks how Ferguson reacted to the newspaper. She looks disgusted with him and spits 'how do you think?'. He pleads that he thought he was doing the right thing.

The Kennedys arrive home, much to the relief of Rachel and Zeke, who, Susan points out, are late for school. Rachel asks about Elle, but Susan insists everything's fine.
SUSAN: You too, Miss Kennedy, or you'll get a detention as well.
Libby says she's staying to look after her mum. Susan says she's not, she finds out about her promotion today. Libby says she doesn't want to think about it. Susan says there's nothing they can do, just wait. She takes her coat off and sits down at the table to ask Libby how the date went. Libby is amazed that even after Susan's 12 hour ordeal, she's asking about the date. Libby says it was fantastic. Susan is obviously pleased and thinks they'll be celebrating her promotion. Libby splutters that it's a school night, and there might not be anything to celebrate. Susan realises something's up and asks what happened. 'I don't know' is the reply.

Paul comes off from a phone call and tells Rebecca they've found Elle's car, but there's no sign of her. Rebecca's made breakfast, but neither of them feel like eating. Paul gets agitated that 'I had the chance to save her and I chose not to'. Rebecca says he made what he thought was the best decision at the time.
PAUL: You know, I thought I could handle a man like Ferguson, I thought I had everything under control.
REBECCA: Well, it's done now.
Paul starts to cry for his daughter. Rebecca insists he loves her and he tried. Then the phone rings. It's Ferguson. Paul pleads with him not to hurt her. Rebecca reaches for her mobile, but Paul indicates to her not to as he tells Pete there'll be no police involved. Paul asks what he wants. Paul is shocked and says he's got to be kidding, but Pete hangs up. Rebecca asks why he didn't let her ring the police.
PAUL: I've stuffed this up once already, now I'm going to give him exactly what he wants.
REBECCA: And what does he want?
PAUL: Steve Parker.

Miranda opens the door to Paul. She asks if there's been any news. He says they're still missing. He asks to see Steve, who comes right in and asks if everything's alright. Paul tells him that Ferguson's been in touch, he's going to let Elle go if Paul brings Steve.
MIRANDA: No way.
STEVE: Just a minute...
Miranda wants to put her foot down and says it's not happening. Steve asks if the police know about this. Paul says no. Miranda says he should call them, but Paul says he can't risk telling them. He's got Elle. Miranda can't believe he wants to give him Steve. Paul says he wouldn't have to if it wasn't for Nicola. She was the one who forced the confession out of him. He tells her that he took the story to the paper and Elle and Susan tried to cover it up. Steve asks where they're meeting. Paul tells them and Miranda goes to call the police. The couple go into the kitchen, where Miranda says it's insane. Steve says he can 'take Ferguson'. Miranda worries he has a weapon. Steve says if it was Bridget, she'd want everyone to help. Miranda thinks 'helping out' is different from handing yourself over to a violent criminal with a score to settle. Steve says he can't let someone else take the fall. She pleads with him not to go, but he just says 'sorry', kisses her and walks out.
No 30/Ramsay Street
Miranda throws the paper on the kitchen table in front of Nicola. She is shocked to discover the women have been kidnapped by Pete. Miranda says Paul told her it was Nicola's doing. Nicola says she was just trying to help her. She says he was threatening them and she didn't think things would go this far. She asks how it happened. Miranda thinks that's a question Nicola should ask herself. Then she tells her Steve's gone off to the rescue again'. Shocked, Nicola runs out of the door. Miranda chases her, pleading with her to stay out of it. Nicola says she wants to talk Steve out of it. She calls out to Steve, who's in Paul's car. He just looks at her with contempt as they drive off. Nicola and Miranda decide to follow them in her car.
Meeting Point
Steve and Paul wait anxiously for Pete. Steve wonders if he'll come.
STEVE: What if he doesn't show?
PAUL: He will, you're too important to him.
STEVE: Oh that makes me feel a whole lot better.
Paul freaks out that Miranda's right, and he shouldn't be asking Steve to do this. Steve says it's his daughter, and he's got to do whatever he can. Paul agrees that after all, Steve was prepared to go to go to jail for his daughter. At the time, Paul says he thought he was a fool, but he sees that's what fathers have to do. As Pete and Elle walk across the grass, Steve says he's doing it for himself, 'to get this monkey off my back once and for all.'
Paul spots Elle and Pete. Elle still looks dazed. Pete says he was delayed making sure there wasn't a welcoming party He tells Steve to move forward 'don't throw anything cute' and turn around. As Steve does what he's told, Elle is released and walks into Paul's arms. Pete grabs Steve on the shoulder, appears to hold something to his back and tells Paul and Elle not to move until they're gone. Paul notices Elle's weird behaviour and asks if she's alright. She slaps him across the face.
As they walk away, Steve tells Pete he won't get away with it. Pete says he's got away with it so far. Miranda and Nicola pull up in the car. Steve taunts Pete that he's great harassing women and children, but not so good man to man. Pete says there's a score to settle and orders Steve into his car. Miranda casually walks up likes nothing's wrong and asks Steve how he's going. This distracts Pete and allows Nicola to jump up from behind a tree on top of him. Steve takes the initiative to grab Pete by the lapels, as he's about to punch Pete Miranda tells him 'don't' and we hear police sirens.
Erinsborough Hospital
Rebecca welcomes Elle back and Susan apologising she couldn't help her. Elle says it's alright, it wasn't her fault, looking pointedly at Paul. He says the paper couldn't give in to Pete's demands. Elle says she'll be sure to include that when she writes up her story. Rebecca tells her not to think about work, but Elle says 'I'm sure my boss wants his front page exclusive'. Paul tells her to worry about it tomorrow. She says she's fine. Karl points out she could be suffering from delayed shock, and should take it easy. Susan says to come back to her place and they can write it up together. She agrees. Paul puts his arm around Elle and offers to drive them, but she shrugs him off. Susan says Karl can give them a lift. Elle thanks him and moves over to Susan. Paul offers to help 'if there's anything you need'. Elle says she can't think of anything. 'OK, take care of yourself' he says as he walks out. Karl and Susan walk away and Karl is surprised that being kidnapped hasn't cured Susan of the 'journalistic bug'. Susan says writing it up will help Elle, besides; it's too good a story.
The General Store
On the phone, Carmella tells Elle she's bringing over muffins and coffee. She hangs up and whinges to Ty that Elle called to remind her about stock take. He says bossing everyone around makes Elle feel in control. Carmella advises him to 'never take on a control freak as a business partner'. She finishes serving him and Zeke appears.
ZEKE: I'm here for my pie and sausage roll.
CARMELLA: Where do you put it all?
ZEKE: In my mouth.
Lucas appears and asks Zeke how his mum is. He says she's still her usual bossy self. He walks off and Carmella sends Susan her love. Zeke joins Rachel and Declan at a table. Declan is of course texting Bridget and tells us 'She just came out of Sydney Harbour Tunnel - amazing!'. Zeke and Rachel mock him. 'Amazing!' they both say. Zeke tells him if he does any more texting he'll get 'Carpal.....Syndrome'.
DECLAN: Well, I have to do something with my hands while she's gone.
Zeke thinks that's funny and they high-five, but Rachel doesn't. Libby comes up and reminds them they have gym class, and they leave. Lucas wolf-whistles. 'Firm but fair Miss Kennedy'
LUCAS: I hear congratulations are in order....you and my brother...although, why he was pumping iron at all hours with me rather than staying in with you, I have no idea'.
Conveniently, Dan walks in at that point. Lucas tells him he couldn't work out 'why you were harassing me at the gym last night'.
DAN: It's because I'm an idiot. I'm really sorry Lib. See you at school.
Libby smiles at Lucas: 'You were saying?'.
The Gyn
Declan is still texting Bridget and Rachel and Zeke are still teasing him.
ZEKE: Oh Didge, I love you so much.
RACHEL: Oh Didge, you complete me.
ZEKE: Our love is like Sydney Harbour. So wet.
RACHEL: Our love is like Anthrax, makes me want to vomit.
Then they get really into it, crying 'come back Didge'. Throughout all this, Declan just ignores them. Then Dan walks in, and tells everyone to gather round. Declan ignores him and carries on texting. Dan takes his phone off him and reminds him about texting in class. Declan says class hasn't started yet. Dan says he's too smart for his own good. Dan tells him to read the text out for the class. He refuses and Dan gives the phone to Zeke who relishes the moment. 'Dear Muffin Cake' he reads, making them laugh. 'I'm so lost without those brown puppy eyes of yours. I don't know how to live my life....' Dan takes the phone off him and tells Declan to save his romance for English.
Libby comes in and tells Dan he left a folder in the Staff Room. Dan doesn't think he did as he opens the folder. Inside it says 'Dinner with your new boss? xx' They laugh.
DECLAN: Is that a personal note, Fitzy? Because if it is you should leave it for English where romance is welcome.'
Dan says he made the rules, he can break them, and orders everyone to do 25 push-ups. He tells Libby dinner sounds great.
No 26
Nicola says she thought the police would never let them go. Miranda is pleased they won't see 'that man again for a long long time'. Steve says he ought to knock their heads together 'What where you guys thinking?'. Miranda says she had no idea, it was Nicola's plan. Nicola says she owed her one. Steve thanks her for 'saving my bacon'. Nicola goes to leave. Miranda stops her saying she'd still like to hear the full story. Nicola says she was trying to get him to leave them alone, he grabbed her and she got 'a needlestick' and thinks he infected her with HIV.
No 30
Miranda lets herself in and finds Nicola talking to the dog. She's surprised Nicola leaves the front door unlocked. Nicola says not much more can happen. Miranda says they used to tell each other everything. Nicola says that was a long time ago. She tells Miranda she doesn't have to be nice to her. She says she nearly wrecked the Kennedys marriage too, because Karl was trying to help her and Susan got the wrong idea. She admits faking Karl's signature and says she's tired of lying. 'Especially to you'. Miranda offers a fresh start, Nicola agrees and they hug.
No 28
Carmella has brought over 'comfort food' as Elle and Susan hunch over the laptop. (Side Note: Look everyone, Neighbours supports Apple. We've all been wrong! Ahem). Elle asks who's looking after the store. Carmella insists it's under control, and she's not to think about it for a couple of days. She leaves them to it.
The women discuss the article as someone knocks on the door. They ignore it. We hear Karl ask if someone's going to get it. The women carry on. 'Or I could get it I suppose...Do you mind getting the door Karl.....No, I think I might get the door' he amuses himself as he opens the door.
KARL: Ah, Rebecca, come in, are you looking for Bernstein or Woodward?
Susan says to ignore him 'Oh she hears that' jokes Karl. Rebecca says she wants to talk to Elle 'about your dad'. Karl and Susan do the tactful exit thing. Elle thinks Paul sent Rebecca, but he doesn't know she's there. Elle asks why he would do what he did. Rebecca says he thought he was doing the right thing, but she's not sure if he even knows. Elle is tired of giving him chances. Rebecca says he loves her so much... not enough to get her out of a jam, says Elle.
REBECCA: He thought he was going to lose you today. You should have seen him. He's not the worst man in the world, Elle.
Elle asks her why she's sticking up for him. Rebecca guesses she's just stupid. They smile.
No 26
Miranda tells Steve she feels terrible that Nicola felt she couldn't tell them. Steve reminds her there was a good reason they stopped talking to her. Still, Miranda hopes she's OK. Steve says the antiretroviral should clear anything up. Miranda hopes so, she's still her sister. Steve wishes she'd act like it. Miranda asks what more she can do. Steve doesn't think they need to forget everything that's happened. Miranda says Nicola hasn't got anyone else. She wants her sister back.
No 22
Elle hands Paul the story and asks if it's fit to print. 'Front page.. or will we bury it?'. He thinks she could win a 'Walkley' with it. She says he can buy her a drink then. He offers something better, dinner at the swankiest restaurant in town. She says 'Baby steps' they can work their way up to a restaurant.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca is buying coffee. Paul comes in and thanks her for speaking to Elle. She says she did it for Elle, not him. He offers to buy her a drink, but she refuses. He thanks her anyway and leaves.
Dan comes in and asks 'Typhoon' how it's going 'Broseph'. Adults today and their strange language, eh? Dan asks if Libby's been in yet. She hasn't so he's early and asks Ty for his best table. He says it depends what he means by best, but there's a free one. As Dan sits down he's joined by Lucas, despite his protest the seat's taken. Lucas reveals he's taken over the garage as Ned needs the money. Dan asks what happened to his realtor/touring job.
LUCAS: No-one wants to live out of a suitcase. Besides... I like it here.
DAN: There's no place for you here, mate.
LUCAS: Oh, but there is. I give you guys six weeks. Enjoy your dinner.
He walks out to leave Dan to consider the bombshell.
