Recap
- Kirsten not wanting to show Ned her burns
- Nicola blurting out Miranda's pre-marital secret
- Ned not accepting Paul's financial help
- Steve and Miranda fighting over "the secret"
Ramsay Street
Declan finds Didge staring morosely down the street, willing her dad to come back. He wraps his arms around her and Didge asks him to promise her that they'll never get like her parents. Declan nods, "Promise."
Erinsborough Hospital
Ned checks how Nicola's doing just as Mickey and Lou come screaming around the corner after getting snacks. Toadie and Callum also join the party and they all trek into Kirsten's room for a visit. Mickey excitedly tells everyone that his family's going to Perth, but Ned puts a dampener on his plans and says it might not happen because they don't have enough money. Toadie and Lou think the money could be raised - with Lou suggesting another kissing booth - but Ned says they'll be fine. He reveals that Paul offered them the funds but he turned him down, so Toadie and Lou take Ned outside for a chat.
The guys try to convince Ned to accept the money from Paul but Ned's pride is holding him back. Toadie wonders if Kirsten feels the same way as Ned and asks if he would have taken the money if it came from someone else. Annoyed, Ned puts an end to the conversation and walks back into the room. Lou follows.
Paul finds Toadie and asks to meet up with him later. Toadie gives him the shifty eyes.
Vet Clinic
Didge is helping her dad check over a pooch who had been mistreated by its previous owners. Didge asks what Nicola has done to their family this time, but Steve doesn't want to worry her with his problems.
Lassiter's Complex
Susan and Rebecca are having a coffee and chatting about Susan's Angus woes. Declan is sitting with them, but is quite distracted like he's looking for someone. Oliver stops to say hello just as Declan spies Miranda and rushes over to her.
Declan tells Miranda that Didge was pretty upset last time he saw her and asks if there's anything he can do for the family. Miranda replies that if he sees Didge to tell her she was looking for her.
Erinsborough Hospital
Bridget seeks out Nicola and gives her a serve in front of Nurse Jodie and another nursing colleague.
DIDGE: I think everyone should know what a two-faced, home-wrecking creep you really are.
NICOLA: Look Bridget, I'm really sorry that your mum and dad are arguing.
DIDGE: Not sorry enough not to get with my brother!
Nurse Jodie and Nurse Gossip have a field day with this information. The bickering continues and Didge eventually discovers that Nicola has a thing for her dad. She angrily asks who Nicola's going to set her sights on next, but Nicola just walks off.
First Commercial Break
Declan's Bedroom
Didge and Declan are sitting on the bed trying to figure out if the crack in the wall plaster looks like Ghandi or not.
DECLAN: Wow, I've been sleeping here the past couple of weeks and he's been looking down on me the whole time. That's really kind of embarrassing.
Didge makes a move to go back home but realises that things are much more calm and peaceful with Declan and decides to stay a while longer.
Dingoes Locker Room
The boys are getting ready for their footy training. Oliver's worried that Steve hasn't shown up yet.
OLIVER: I hope that doesn't mean that Lou's going to be making a return to coaching.
DAN: That damn whistle.
(Oliver laughs and gets out his wallet)
OLIVER: Hey do you want to see something cute?
DAN: Sure.
(He shows Dan a picture of Chloe)
OLIVER: Look at that. She loves my guts.
Ringo chats with Ty about his housemates and Ty laughs that they're both mad. One's an eco-Nazi and one's from a different planet. Steve barges in and immediately starts to give his team a hiding for their poor efforts last game. He gets narky at Justin (who was pushing into Ringo) and sends him out to run laps, then decides that the whole team can join him.
Number 26
Rebecca and Susan have dropped in for coffee and cheesecake on the premise that it's just a friendly catch-up and not because they're worried about their friend. Miranda sighs and says she's alienated pretty much everyone in her family and it's not looking good.
MIRANDA: Can anyone beat that?
REBECCA: I got tipsy and pashed Paul.
SUSAN: I'm having my daughter's ex-con teacher over for dinner.
MIRANDA: Show-offs.
Footy Oval
Ringo tries to sneak in an orange during training but Harold slaps his hand away - NO SOUP FOR YOU! Ah, I mean no oranges. Steve is holding a giant piece of padding that he's getting all the blokes to run into one by one. He yells at them all to wake up, taking out his pent-up anger on his poor unassuming team. Ringo, Ty, Justin, Oliver and Declan all take their turns, each nearly getting slammed into next century by Steve. Dan takes his turn and manages to reverse the damage, knocking Steve to the ground. Harold can't help smirking that sourpuss Steve got a taste of his own medicine. But it looks as though Steve has hurt his wrist as a result.
Second Commercial Break
General Store
Paul has filled Toadie in on his plan but Toadie knows that Ned is going to see straight through it.
TOADIE: So this is your way of cleaning your conscience?
PAUL: No, this is my way of making sure that Kirsten gets looked after. Anyway, you of all people should know that my conscience if beyond cleaning.
Annoyed that he's been made the messenger, Toadie snatches up the cheque and heads out. Paul gives a self-satisfied smile.
Erinsborough Hospital
Toadie returns just in time to help Ned and Lou separate Mickey and Callum from fighting.
LOU: I've got somebody's leg here!
NED: That's my arm, Lou.
Nurse Jodie tells them all to can it and Toadie finds out that Callum asked Mickey if his mum was dying and Mickey got upset. Toadie thinks this is the perfect time to hand over the cheque to Ned - masquerading as the reward money for capturing Jay Duncan. Ned reminds Toadie that he had nothing to do with the capture, but when he sees how happy Mickey is he knows that going to Perth is the only option.
Everyone walks out to give Ned, Kirsten and Mickey some space. Paul hangs out in the corridor and gives Toadie an expectant look. Toadie smiles and nods and Paul gives him a wink.
Dingoes Locker Room
Ty wonders whether he should go and see if Steve's OK but Ringo and Oliver hastily stop him so he doesn't get his head bitten off. Dan wraps an icepack around Steve's wrist and says he'll take him to the hospital, but Steve insists he'll be fine. Dan urges Declan to talk some sense into him.
DECLAN: All actions have consequences.
STEVE: Yeah very good. Didn't anyone tell you it's poor form to quote someone's advice back to them?
DECLAN: Yeah I must have missed that bit.
Dan returns with his training bag and Steve eventually relents to a hospital trip.
Erinsborough Hospital
Nurse Jodie and Nurse Gossip are just about to tuck into some doughnuts when they see Nicola coming and quickly hide them away. Dan and Declan bring Steve in, who treats Nicola with icy contempt when she tries to help him. They go and sit down to wait for a doctor. Nicola realises she's being stared at.
NICOLA: What are you two looking at?
NURSE JODIE: We were just wondering what member of the family you were going to hit on next. (Explaining to Nurse Gossip) Ned Parker's a relative too. No man's safe.
NICOLA: Well if either of you two had a man you could be worried but you don't, do you? So maybe you should relax.
Nicola has pushed Steve up the queue so he didn't have to wait and is treating his wrist herself, letting him know it's sprained.
Miranda rushes into the waiting area and asks Dan and Declan how Steve got hurt. The boys reply that it was an accident but that he seemed quite distracted.
Nicola bandages up Steve's wrist. He asks her how long she's known about the other guy in Miranda's life for and Nicola says from the start.
Didge has arrived and panics when she realises that her mum's gone in to see her dad, "She won't be any help!" But Declan says that she needs to give her parents some space to work things out.
Miranda finds Steve and Nicola gives them some privacy. Miranda tries to explain but Steve's in no mood to listen. Quietly fuming, Steve tells her that he felt lost all his life until he met her and finally felt like he belonged somewhere.
STEVE: When you said yes to me, were you in love with another man?
MIRANDA: All that matters is what we have now.
STEVE: When we got married were you in love with someone else?
MIRANDA: ... Yes.
Third Commercial Break
Erinsborough Hospital
Miranda tells Steve that it was her economics tutor Dean Norton. Steve's angry that Miranda accepted his proposal if she didn't really feel it - they were broken up at the time, so why didn't she just tell him no? Miranda replies that Dean wasn't the marrying type and Steve was. Being with Dean was all about being in the moment, "It felt so dangerous". But when Steve returned and proposed she realised she wanted the picket fences, and the kids and all that wedded bliss.
STEVE: When did you break up with Dean?
MIRANDA: The night before I accepted your proposal.
STEVE: Did you sleep with him, Miranda? Did you get with him the night before you accepted my proposal?
(Miranda doesn't answer and it's all the clarification Steve needs)
STEVE: Yes!
He shakes his head in disgust at her.
