Jay's Cabin
Jay is walking with Steph and Charlie, showing them around. Steph keeps flashing back to the articles as Jay tells her how private and remote the cabin is from everywhere else. She looks through her bag for her phone but tells Jay she must've left it behind. He asks what she needs a phone for anyway, before showing her inside.
Number 30
Toadie's worried as Steph's not answering her phone. Nicola thinks she might be out of range but Toad's scared that Jay's preventing her from answering. He's tried everyone, even Lyn, to track her down but they just think he's stalking her. Nicola tells him not to panic but Toadie shouts at her, afraid that Jay and not Steph could have found the articles first. He doesn't know what to do next...
Number 32
How does a little breaking and entering grab ya? Toadie worries about how it'll look on his CV but Nicola tells him to relax and get to work. They soon find a laptop and, firing it up, find photos of the blond women and kids Jay's saved. Nicola finds it creepy but thinks that maybe one of these women can lead them to Steph.
TOADIE: If they're even alive...
Jay's Cabin
Jay thinks Charlie's getting used to him. Steph tries to act normally but he can tell something's on her mind. She pulls out the article printouts and waits for an explanation. She points out how weird it is he's only saved blond single mothers. He says blonds sell papers and they aren't the only people he's saved. When she brings up the fact he's dating a lot of them, he reasons that it's an occupational hazard - he meets a lot of people on the job, as people do. He tells her that he has nothing to hide and she can ask anything and get an honest answer. Steph seems reassured. They kiss.
Erinsborough High
There's a lot more pashing going on down at the school, where Zeke tells Didge and Declan to give it a rest. Zeke notices that Rachel's dropped an envelope and picking it up, sees it's addressed to Angus. She takes it and Zeke's attention is drawn to Donna, wearing a bright red scarf with her EH dress. She swapped schools after all. The group discuss how her outfit is a tad attention seeking.
In the classroom Fitzy introduces Libby and Donna and Libby reminds Donna to address her as Ms Kennedy at school. Plus they have to discuss her outfit.
In the corridor Helen Carr sees Dec and Didge pashing and asks what they think they're doing.
DECLAN: Knitting?
She's not amused and tells them to get to class. In class she reminds everyone that the school has a clear code on public displays of affection and, seeing Donna, school uniform too. She tells them that Lib and Fitzy will explain it all to them after school. The class aren't one bit happy about this.
Jay's Cabin
Jay tells Steph that everything fell into place when he met her.
STEPH, jokingly: What - do I complete you?
He says he's waited a long time for someone like her. He's searched long and hard and now he has her he doesn't want to lose her. He pulls out a small red velvet box and alarm bells go off in Steph's head. She gets her bag and tells him she's running away - she's sorry but this has been a big mistake. He encourages her to take a look but she says that she isn't into whirlwind romances. He opens the box and inside is a pair of earrings. She can't believe it and admits that she thought he was proposing. He says she must think he's crazy - they've only been together for 3 and half weeks! She thinks she's a moron and he assures her that she might be a bit loopy but not a moron. She goes inside to try the earrings on, giving Jay a chance to search her bag. He pulls out her car keys and puts them in his pocket.
Erinsborough High
Fitzy reads over Helen Carr's policy on PDAs. They aren't even allowed outside school grounds while students are in uniform. As Fitzy talks about kissing, Lib can't help but concentrate very hard on his mouth. Lib asks how they're meant to police this. Fitzy thinks it should be an issue of personal responsibility - people keeping their emotions under control.
LIBBY: You think that's healthy?
Fitzy says nothing.
Bushland
Steph tells Jay about how her relationship with Toadie faltered because of the whole marriage thing. Jay says not every guy giving her jewellery is trying to tie her down. She thanks him for the gift but she can't take them, after what she's said. He tells her to keep them as his 'let's take things slow' gift. They kiss and thank each other.
Charlie's
Toad wonders if this woman is going to turn up, Nicola having posed as a journo to set up the meeting. The woman, Madeleine, comes in and tells them that almost didn't come but people should know the truth about Jay. She starts to cry.
Their meeting over and she's still upset. Toad and Nicola thank her and she leaves. Nicola is glad Jay didn't hurt Madeleine, although she had to go into hiding from him. Toadie's frightened Steph won't have the same chance. Toadie remembers Madeleine saying Jay had a cabin in the Macedon ranges and there was a fruit stall nearby. Nicola searches on the net but there's no information. Toadie calls a source, asking him to search for the address.
Jay's Cabin
Charlie's sleeping a lot and Steph's worried he's coming down with something. She decides to go into town to get some medicine but can't find her keys. Jay casually says she probably just dropped them. Steph keeps searching and Jay says he thinks she'd be better off staying here. She protests and he shouts an angrily at her, explaining that it'll be unsafe on the roads this late with the roos out. A good night's sleep is probably all Charlie needs. He goes to check on him as reality dawns on Steph.
Erinsborough High
Dec and Didge are having a pashing competition while the rest of their class cheers them on. Libby refuses to step in when Fitzy asks what to do and then Helen Carr arrives.
A while later and Fitzy tries to explain to Steve, Miranda and Rebecca about the situation. Rebecca laughs when she finds all they were doing was pashing - she was getting worried there. Fitzy says they take this very seriously. Libby jumps in, believing these new rules are very silly and they're only doing this on Helen Carr's insistence. Dan looks a little embarrassed as she tells him to stand up and do the right thing for a change. He suggests they talk about it somewhere else. Libby says she's talking with some parents about a disciplinary issue - what's he talking about?
Steve takes it seriously, even Libby doesn't. Rebecca agrees with Lib - this is just teenage behaviour. Steve thinks that Didge has been through enough and he doesn't want a teen pregnancy on his hands. Miranda berates him and Rebbeca's heard enough. She apologises to a smirking Lib and Fitzy for having to hear that.
STEVE: Rebecca, I wasn't talking about -
REBECCA: (walking away) Shut up, Steve.
Jay's Cabin
As Jay stokes the fire, Steph eyes the key in the lock. She spots a mobile and her car keys on the mantlepiece. Jay lights the fire with what looks like the lighter that supposedly previously belonged to Callum.
Later and they finish dinner in front of the fire. Jay notices she's hardly eaten anything. She says she's hungry for dessert and not the tin of fruit in the kitchen ; she loves the old bath in the bathroom. Lucky for her it rained last week, so Jay goes and gets it ready while she tries to prise her keys from the mug Jay left them in on the mantle.
Number 30
Toadie's source comes up trumps with an address and Toad is well chuffed.
Jay's Cabin
Early the next day and Steph dashes to get the keys. It's very difficult to do it quietly but she manages. Then she goes to the front door. It's old and stiff and she has some trouble opening it but she manages, even though it makes a fair bit of noise. She hurries to get Charlie and has him in his car seat in no time. Hurray! But then the car won't start. A very stressed and scared Steph opens the bonnet to check the engine and that's when she sees some wires have been cut.
Jay calls her name and Steph turns around.
After ads, Jay returns to the lounge room having left Charlie to play in the other room. He asks what she was doing - was she trying to run away from him? She says she was actually going to town to get supplies to make a good country brekkie for him with all the trimmings. But the car wouldn't start. He asks if she has any idea what's wrong with it but she plays dumb. He says he's checked Charlie's temperature and he seems fine. She can go to town after breakfast and he'll look after Charlie. She nods, struggling to smile. Jay walks off and Steph looks on after him, her smile faded away.
