Karl revealing that the fire may have been deliberately lit.
Nicola impulsively kissing Steve when rescued.
Ned finding Kirsten in a bad way.
Marco being found in a terrible condition.
Karl letting Marco know that he may not have long to live.
Kirsten needing emergency medical assistance.
Kirsten's heart has stopped, which is making Mickey anxious. Ned hugs him.
Carmella visits Marco and is worried when he talks about their time together in the past tense. She tells him how fraught she was with worry at the thought that she might lose him and is keen to marry him as soon as he's back on his feet. Knowing they might not have that long, Marco asks her to marry him tomorrow. Carmella is sad at the thought of not having her dream wedding, but Marco is keen not to wait.
Ned finds Steve, Miranda and Mickey outside and they are relieved to hear that Kirsten has been resuscitated. Mickey asks if they can all live together when his mum comes out, having heard Ned say that he loves her and Ned admits that he does.
Back inside, Rebecca and Sienna give Carmella huge hugs upon hearing about the wedding. Even Oliver manages to muster a smile. Rebecca asks if Marco will be well enough and Carmella assures her that he is fine. Oliver offers his congratulations. Carmella leave the party to tell Karl that Marco's asked her to marry him tomorrow, but she wants to check that he'll be ok. Karl assures her that it won't hinder his recovery and it will make him very happy.
The General Store
Miranda tells Steve and Nicola that they've been invited by Susan to an early dinner before they go back to the hospital. Nicola tells them that she has a date with someone they don't know, so she can't come. Her hesitant answers (apparently he's a solicitor) suggests this is not true. When pressed for information, she says it's Toadie, which surprises them.
Nicola pulls up and sees Toadie and Callum playing a throwing rocks into a can game on their driveway. She struggles to make conversation, asking him to tell her about the law ("pretty cool", apparently).
NICOLA: Am I cool enough to ask you out?
Toadie is as surprised as everyone else at this development and Callum bemoans his lame dating techniques. Toadie accepts and they arrange for dinner that night, although Callum will have to be present too. He cheekily asks Nicola if she has any friends.
Karl puts up Marco's morphine levels and informs him that he knows about the wedding and thinks Marco should tell Carmella the truth.
MARCO: I want to see love and happiness in her eyes, not fear. Please Karl, this is for her. (He coughs, sounding very unwell) Just get me through the wedding, that's all I ask.
KARL: I'll do my damnedest.
He plans to put him on some more drugs to keep him going and drops the suggestion of telling her.
Carmella arrives with Chloe and Marco lies, telling her that he's feeling much better. They're both looking forward to the wedding.
Carmella is all teary and grateful because Rebecca is lending her her unused wedding dress. Carm is worried that it doesn't feel right and that she doesn't believe that the wedding will help Marco get better. She's convinced that he's dying and just trying to protect her. Sienna denies it and Rebecca insists that it doesn't change anything - they still want to marry each other.
Mickey has brought Kirsten some pictures. Miranda and Steve arrive, telling Kirsten that she's looking better. Kirsten is surprised to hear from Mickey that she will be moving in with them and thinks that Ned just feels obligated. She thinks that she'll never be normal again and doesn't want anyone to pity her. Steve and Miranda try to take Mickey out, but Ned not too politely tells them to butt out so that Mickey can hear Ned pledge to be by Kirsten's side every step of the way.
Callum is trying to move the date along by asking Nicola questions, but the atmosphere still seems very awkward. As Miranda and Steve enter, Nicola demands that Toadie tells a joke. When they approach the table, Nicola pretends she's just heard something very funny and then asks how Kirsten is doing. They tell her she's doing better and Miranda offers to include them in their take-away plans. Nicola enthuses that they'd rather stay because they're having such a good time, a heartfelt lie that is somewhat spoilt by Callum's divulgence that they're not even talking. Toadie passes this off as Callum's lack of social skills.
Whilst Callum goes to the toilet, Nicola admits that she got Toadie to come under false pretences - she wanted to show Steve and Miranda that she didn't always pick the wrong guys. Toadie is a bit hurt to hear that he's just a decoy, but not too surprised. Nicola successfully analyses that he only agreed to impress Callum, so he's not really any better than her. They decide to have dinner anyway.
Oliver brings some flowers in, ready for the wedding tomorrow. Marco pretends that he's ok, just cold. Oliver tells him that everything's sorted for the wedding and then humbly thanks Marco for going back into the fire and getting water for Chloe and picking him up when he fell. He apologises for not waiting for him. Marco knows that he had no choice and is just glad that they came back and found him. He sounds extremely frail but keeps up the pretence of reasonable health. Oliver makes to leave so Marco can get some rest and wishes him luck for the wedding. Marco beckons him over and clasps his hand.
MARCO: I know we've had history, but today cancels all that out, ok? (Oliver nods) I want you to be my best man.
What? Oliver accepts, saying it would be an honour.
The next morning, Marco's room is adorned in flowers, ready for the wedding. Isn't there some kind of safety risk with having flowers in hospitals? Oh well, Marco's prospects aren't looking too great anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. He once again refuses Karl's suggestion of telling Carmella. When Oliver arrives, Marco claims that he is feeling fine. Oliver and Karl attach a bow tie to him and Rebecca and Sienna appear with some more flowers - roses this time. Father Capetola has arrived early as he had to discuss some "matters" with Marco. Rebecca plays some music and Carmella comes in. Marco tells her how beautiful she looks. The ceremony begins and we hear their wedding vows.
CARMELLA: You're every dream I ever dreamed. Every wish I ever wished. I've never loved a man like I love you and I never will.
MARCO: From the moment I saw you, I knew I loved you. I never knew love could be so strong. My Carmella.
They exchange rings, Marco struggling a little with his vows. The small audience claps as Carmella kisses her husband.
Toadie and Callum are decked out in matching Hawaiian shirts, straw hats and sunnies. Nicola approaches them to thank Toadie for playing along the night before, telling him that the plan worked and that he has met the approval of her sister and brother-in-law. She dashes to get in the car - Ned is giving her a lift.
TOADIE: You call Rebecchi's Decoy Dates any time you're stuck. (in an advertiser's voice) Rebecchi - the date you're having when you're not having a date.
She tells him not to be too sure about the kind of guys hot girls like her go for and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Callum offers a double thumbs up from the car.
Marco holds Chloe whilst a teary Rebecca hugs Carmella. Oliver congratulates her. They look over and Marco looks peacefully unconscious. Carmella says that he's fine and asks for them to be left alone. They leave and Carmella takes Chloe. Marco wakes and says a last "Ciao Bella" to the baby, popping a kiss on her head. Karl too leaves the newly married couple alone. Carmella kisses her husband and they reaffirm their love for each other. She cries and silences him, saying they have all the time in the world.
Marco looks very peaceful and Carmella lies beside him, stroking his cheek.
CARMELLA: It's just us now, beautiful. Everyone's gone. We're just an old married couple, curled up on the bed. There should be a cat here, even though I've always hated cats.
Marco turns his head to her and she tells him he did it, he came back to her.
CARMELLA: I was so scared of falling in love with you. Do you remember? I kept running away. But you were so patient; you were so strong. You've always been so strong for me and Chloe. I am so proud to be your wife. (She begins to cry) We'll get old and silly together, but we'll always have each other. I am yours, I always will be.
His hand slowly and tragically loses its grip on hers.
