Ollie seducing Mia.
Steph wondering if the omens are going to affect the wedding.
Frazer telling Toadie to relax, Steph will be there soon as they wait at the altar.
Steph taking a few big deep breaths outside the church.
Toadie waiting for Steph to appear though the doors of the church.
After what seems to Toadie like an eternity, Steph comes through the doors and ‘here comes the bride' starts being played as she makes her way down the aisle to the altar to where Toadie and co are waiting.
STEPH: I'm here.
TOADIE: Yes you are.
STEPH: Okay well let's get married huh?!
Everyone takes up their positions and the minister gets things underway.
Ollie is briefing maintenance when Mia comes in with an invoice for him and spots that he has Chloe with him (he has her for the day but got called into work). Eventually she asks why he didn't call and he replies that he was waiting for her call and says that he's done with her services. Mia coolly replies that she'll let Marco know before walking out.
He then follows her out and they talk about the not-calling business but some random female comes up to coo on Chloe and assumes that the two of them are Chloe's parents. Cue embarrassment for the random female and once she departs, Mia has a go at Ollie for flirting with the random female, which he does not appreciate.
Karl reads out Susan's words to the gathered since she can't be there personally and once he re-takes his seat, the minister asks for Toadie and Steph to read their vows to each other.
TOADIE: (very confidently) Ours is a love story. I saw that movie ‘Love Story' and in it it says love means never having to say you're sorry… I have to say it all the time. (Cue laugher from the congregation.)
While Toadie continues, Dan spots that Rosie isn't well and asks if she okay but she doesn't reply, instead moves out of the pew and makes her way out of the church. Rebecca then gets out of her pew too and follows her outside.
TOADIE: So I reckon the people who wrote that movie got it a bit wrong. I love you more than words can say. I love everything about you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Can't wait!
Steph tries to avoid eye contact with Toadie whilst looking (or remembering) what to say. Eventually she asks for the written version and cue reassuring smiles from the wedding party.
STEPH: Toadie, you've been a part of my life for so long.
Breaking off for the speech she apologises for being so nervous but he's cool with that and tells Steph to take her time, he's not going anywhere!
STEPH: (big gulp) But I look forward to a future together that will be joyful and long and funny.
She breaks off again and apologises but Toadie reassures her that the only thing that counts is ‘I do'. While Steph is stalling, we pan to the congregation who have worried looks on their faces.
Eventually Toadie says “this isn't nerves is it?” and Steph quickly reassures him that it is and asks for a glass of water.
TOADIE: No you don't.
He asks the minister if they can have some time and doesn't believe Steph when she tells him that she is fine.
TOADIE: You don't want to do this and we both know it alright.
Steph continues reading the vows from the card but Toadie takes it from her and tells the minister that they are pulling the plug.
STEPH: No, no we're not.
TOADIE: We'll we're not going through with this.
STEPH: Yes we are. Yes we are. Come on Toadie this is our wedding, don't do this. Come on.
TOADIE: Not anymore.
Then to the gasps of the congregation, Toadie walks away from the altar.
Rebecca brings over some OJ to Rosie who says she'll be fine after having some juice as she felt hot inside the church. Coming straight out with it, Rebecca asks Rosie if she wants “a boy or a girl?”
ROSIE: How do you know?
This just confirms what Rebecca has suspected and tells Rosie she has ‘a look' about her and just as she is given Rosie her congratulations, Marco and Carmy come into the bar. Camry is concerned for her sister after Rebecca called to say she wasn't well.
CARMELLA: (concerned) You do look kind of pale. What is it?
REBECCA: She doesn't know? (Shake of head from Rosie) Oh, so I'm sorry.
ROSIE: No, no, its time I told her.
CARMELLA: (still concerned) Tell me what?
ROSIE: I have a condition. It's called preg…nan…cy.
CARMELLA: (stunned) You're what?!
ROSIE: I'm pregnant.
Cue mass sister hugging and after Carmy shows concern for her sister, pokes her and informs Rosie that she is going to kill her for not telling her! Rebecca quickly explains that she guessed and Marco's chin just about hits the floor when Carmy announces they'll have to get one on the go too so Rosie doesn't steal their thunder!
The minister is looking very bemused as he stands alone at the altar wondering what to do before we cut to a teary Steph and Libby in the vestry. Steph is distraught because she thinks she has humiliated Toadie since his words came from the heart and that he will never speak to her again.
STEPH: (distraught) Oh my god, what have I done?
Church (later on)
Valda and Harold sit still stunned as to what has just happened. Kev and Angie walk past the minister as they into the vestry whilst Karl asks the gathered to remain seated until whatever Steph and Toadie are sorting out is resolved.
In the vestry, Angie is bemused at Toadie wanting to call it all off when all Steph has is nerves not that she doesn't want to not marry him. Kev is forced to calm her down (and then take her away) when it looks like she is going to physically assault their son!
Toadie reassures Frazer that he is fine and that he will deal with it before Karl enters the room to ask what happened.
TOADIE: I thought she meant it.
KARL: I'm sure she does.
TOADIE: She couldn't force herself to say her vows.
KARL: She's just nervous.
TOADIE: Its not nerves. Did you see her face? That was panic, panic that she was making the biggest mistake of her life.
Karl tells Toadie that he is overreacting but Toadie is insistent because he knows Steph.
TOADIE: I know how scared she was about marriage. I thought I'd talked her around but clearly I haven't.
KARL: So, what now?
TOADIE: I'm not getting married.
Valda enters the room to say that the gathered are getting restless and Karl indicates for her to give him a few minutes and Frazer follows her out of the room.
KARL: Please don't make a hasty decision.
Frazer checks up on his wife and explains to her that there has been a hic-up but hangs up when he spots Valda and Karl making their way outside.
Fraz asks if Toadie has changed her mind, Karl doesn't know, before saying that there must be something they can do to reunited Steph and Toadie. Valda says that hiding in different room won't help and Karl suggests somehow getting Steph to talk to Toadie… whilst looking at Valda.
Church (Toadie's room)
Toadie is sitting alone in the room when Steph enters and asks how they can fix it. Call Bob perhaps but Toadie doesn't think there is anything to fix. Steph suggests bypassing everything and going straight to the ‘I do's'.
STEPH: Come on Toad, please just try.
TOADIE: I'm the one who wanted to get married and I talked myself into believing that you did too but you never did.
STEPH: (emphatically) I do. There, I said it, ‘I do'. Toad.
TOADIE: It's done babe, the weddings off.
STEPH: No you just can't give up like this.
TOADIE: There is nothing to give up on. Whatever I thought we had never existed so like I said there's nothing to fix.
Toadie goes to leave but Steph pulls him back to remind them that there is a church full of people outside.
TOADIE: Tell them to go home.
Ollie invites Mia into the flat when she calls round, pleased that Carmy and Marco aren't back from the wedding. She apologises for what she said to him, she has a bad record picking losers, which makes her hypersensitive. Ollie thanks her for the apologies but adds that he is in the decent guy category. Mia goes onto say that although she knows he has issues with her brother, she doesn't want that to affect them.
Chloe has impeccable timing, for just as they are about to pash, she is sick on his shirt, halting anything until he can get cleaned up.
The congregation are getting very fed up waiting and despite Valda and Libby offering to tell the guests, Steph replies that its her mess so she has to clean it up and heads out to the altar.
STEPH: Ah, I'm sorry you've all had to wait around like this but there isn't going to be a wedding. You are all still very welcome to come back to Charlie's for nibbles and drinks.
Steph then tearfully heads back down the aisle quickly followed by Libby and Valda.
The pub has a definite ‘wake' atmosphere. Frazer wants to cheer everyone up by publicly announcing Rosie's pregnancy since Carmy knows but she stops him and threatens physical harm if he tells!
Valda enters the bar area to relay a message from Steph – she is okay and orders them all to party since its all bought and paid for.
VALDA: So, who's for a drink?
Harold tries to ask what happened but Valda isn't saying and putting her brave face on, gets the champers ready for distributing.
Angie is demanding to know what happened and doesn't welcome Kev's intervention to push her out of the house.
ANGIE: I am not a supermarket trolley!
She now wants to know why he is upset since he was the one who called it off and issues a “I'm warning you” threat to Kev when he tries to remove her again. Angie tries being more gentler with her son but still doesn't mince her words when she reminds him that he is making a very big mistake and adds that she wants to see him make that right.
TOADIE: Yes I know you do and there's nothing you and dad can do here so why don't you just go home and let me get on with it.
ANGIE: Like you got on with it so far?!
Toadie doesn't appreciate that comment and Kev intervenes to stop them warring.
KEV: Promise your mum you'll call her.
TOADIE: I will call you mum.
KEV: Tell her you miss her.
TOADIE: I miss you already.
KEV: You can't ask for more than that.
“I could ask him to listen to reason,” Angie remarks as she and Kev head out the door. Kev asks Toadie to contact them if he needs anything and reminds Toadie that they love him.
TOADIE: They mean well. Not that that's an excuse.
Karl asks Toadie to call Steph to at least keep the lines of communication going between them even if the wedding is off, so at least he knows what's next.
TOADIE: Any beer in the fridge?
Not the answer Karl was looking for!
While looking out the window, Steph swithers whether to put in an appearance or not at Charlie's to assist Valda since everyone will want to know details but Libby replies that Valda will be fine.
LIBBY: Would she be able to tell them?
STEPH: What? Why he left me? No. I mean okay yes I lost my nerve for a second but I got it back.
LIBBY: Did you?
STEPH: Yes I did! He wouldn't even let me fight for us though. (Big sigh) I've broken my best friends heart Lib, how could I do that?
LIBBY: Because that's what he is. He's your best friend and that's how you love him.
STEPH: No. No, I love him as the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. No matter what's happened I'm going to fight for that. (Giving Libby a look) I am!
Mia dries off Ollie's shirt with a hairdryer which she then hands over when he returns from settling Chloe down. However before he can put it on, she says it still damp and takes it back off him, which I'm sure has more to do with ogling him topless than being really concerned for his health.
She then leans in to kiss him but he pulls back because it's Carmy's pad however that notion gets put on a back burner when he leans over where she has now sat down and kisses her! Their ‘up close and personal' moment is ruined however when the returning Carmy and Marco spring them.
“Chloe threw up on my shirt” Ollie gets out quickly to try and explain why he is topless and Mia holds up the shirt.
Toadie has found the beers but Karl isn't having one until he's had his chat with Toadie.
TOADIE: She doesn't love me mate, not the way that I want her to anyway.
KARL: She was going to marry you.
TOADIE: She was only doing that to make me happy.
KARL: Oh Toad. Steph is a strong smart woman. If she didn't want to get married there's no way she was going to get pushed into it.
TOADIE: Yes well in the end she wasn't, was she? There's no point trying to argue it. Can't come back from this you know. The Steph and Toad show is finished. It's over, that's all there is to it.
