Steph telling Toadie she's not ready to get involved with anyone else yet.
Toadie telling Steph that things get easier with time.
Carmella demanding to know why Will is being so secretive about his father.
Guy sitting in a car, watching Katya, telling someone on the phone that there are too many witnesses – the right time will eventually present itself.
Steph opens the door to Toadie who is covered in blue paint / goo / slime (delete as appropriate). He was got by Stingray in an outrageous abuse of Smackdown rules.
Toadie hands Steph a present for Charlie, and she's thrilled. He gets out a present for Steph, too – a silver necklace with a heart on it but she has her back to him and doesn't see it. He puts it away, quickly. Steph admits she's pleased to see him, especially today.
Katya comes in with a present for Ned, but Steph dismisses her, saying that Ned's still on a shift. Toadie, however, reassures Katya that she's welcome to stay – and makes a knowing stare at Steph. Steph agrees and orders Toadie into the shower.
KATYA: So. Toadie's blue.
Rosie sits on the sofa looking at her diary – where Pepper has written “D-Day” on December 25th, and a post-it note™ saying that it's meant to be a joke…
Frazer comes in and presents Rosie with a gift – some kind of leather-bound A4 book or folder. She hasn't bought him anything! It's Christmas and she didn't even get her housemates a card?! How mean! She thanks him with a kiss on the cheek, which quickly turns into a kiss on the mouth…
…and they quickly stop as Carmella and Will kiss their way into the house before noticing Rosie and Frazer. Carmella has come home from the dinner because her mum was driving her crazy, and noticing her sister's awkwardness, she quickly suggests that she and Will go to number 24 instead.
Frazer offers to go and make Rosetta some coffee.
Will and Carmella are doing a little kissing, and whilst Frazer suggests going to her room, Carmella would rather talk – find out more about her boyfriend. She admits that she doesn't know a lot about him, and wonders if he's embarrassed about his parents, or if they're poor, since he has a chip on his shoulder about rich people. Will doesn't want to talk about it – only he and Carmella are important, and Charlton Hill starts up in the background.
CARMELLA: Let's go to my room.
WILL: Woah – wait. Once we do this – there's no going back for you.
Karl lugs a suitcase out of his and Susan's bedroom. He yells for Audrey and Zeke, and tells Zeke they need to hurry to pick up Tom on the way to Libby's. Karl asks Zeke to get Audrey's lead just as he asks about Katya.
KARL: Could you grab Audrey's lead for me, please?
ZEKE: What about Katya?
KARL: Didn't she go with Susan?
Zeke explains that his sister went to give Ned a present, and Karl asks if she actually wants to go to Shep or not? Zeke goes to find out, and legs it to number 32. Karl puts Audrey's lead on her.
Katya sits on the sofa, and Steph folds washing. Katya asks after Charlie, but Steph's only interested in one thing:
STEPH: Hey, excuse me for being so blunt, but shouldn't you be in prison?
KATYA: Karl and Susan posted my bail.
STEPH: And it was granted? Gee. That's nice.
KATYA: Well, we're driving to Shepparton, so –
STEPH: You're very lucky willing to have a family to accept you back, you know that?
Katya tries to leave but Steph confronts her – this is Charlie's first Christmas, and Max isn't here to share it. Katya half-apologises, but doesn't get a chance to say anything else because Guy appears in the hallway with a gun. Zeke runs in, calling for his sister, and Guy pushes him into the lounge with the girls and Charlie. He demands his $100K, but Katya doesn't have it.
Ned is showing some visitors around, indicating Lassiters hotel on the left. Paul approaches, and doesn't remember authorising Ned's promotion to Tour Guide. Ned doesn't care – Janelle gave him the gig of Activities Officer.
Ned makes fun of Paul being alone on Christmas Day with only Harvey for company. And even then, Steph is coming to get the dog later on. Ned is trying his hardest to sound threatening.
Paul meets up at the Rotunda™ with Det Skinner who hands him an envelope in exchange for another envelope. Oooh. Something's going on…
Carmella is making a drink and Will comes out of the bedroom, both apparently in a post-coital state of bliss. And Carmella's hair doesn't even look ruffled. Remarkable.
Carmella asks Will to take her bandage from her face, even though she's not supposed to. The scar has almost completely healed – which must be such a relief for the make-up department. Will kisses her, but his mobile rings and he goes to answer it. He asks the person who they are and what they want, and then makes some excuse to Carmella about needing to go into work.
The Scarlet Bar
Will turns up at the bar to see Paul, who calls him by his real name – Sebastian Barnes. SebastianWill wants to know how Paul figured out who he was. Paul had worked him out ages ago, apparently; he knew his parents before they passed away.
The Barnes family own two percent of Lassiters, and Paul's not too happy about that – surely SebastianWill is going to want to take control of Lassiters at some point? What's his game?
Frazer has made Rosetta coffee, but she has something else on her mind, and wanders into the lounge with a cute little black number on.
FRAZER: Is that a Christmas present?
ROSETTA: I'm your Christmas present. Do you wanna unwrap me?
She's all shy and awkward. Frazer laughs – she almost convinced him then! And then he realises that she's not kidding at all. He tells her she doesn't need all this to seduce anyone – she can do it by just being her.
They kiss, but Frazer remembers an appointment that he has. Wow – bad timing.
Guy is demanding the money from Katya, but she continues to claim that she doesn't have it. Steph wants to check on Charlie in the bedroom, but Guy refuses to let her, despite her begging that she has nothing to do with this. There's a knock at the door, and Guy tells Steph to get rid of whoever it is – without letting on what's happening.
In shock, and scared, Steph goes to the door. It's Karl, looking for Kat and Zeke. Steph makes up a story that they've gone to the store to get some supplies. Karl clicks that Steph is upset, and offers to take her to Shepparton with them, too, seeing as Max isn't here. Steph refuses.
Why, oh why, oh WHY did she not say something really obvious to arouse Karl's suspicions?? Why not say “Katya's gone to pick up Susan's twin sister from the airport” or “Zeke's had to go and pick up some medication for his diabetes” or “they've gone to pick up your mother?” – something which would make Karl realise that she's out and out lying – on purpose??
Steph closes the door to Karl and Toadie is at the other end of the hall. He realises what's going on, and goes to grab something to hit Guy with, but Guy sees him in time and knocks him to the floor. Steph calls out to Toadie, and Guy demands that Katya speak to him. Steph is at Toadie's side in a flash – but he's barely conscious.
Dum dum dum!
The Scarlet Bar
SebastianWill and Paul are getting drinks and take a seat at the table. SebWill tells Paul that the only reason he was so popular at school was because he had the best toys. He wants a woman who loves him for who he is, not for being a Barns. Paul tells him that women like that are few and far between, and SebWill retorts that he's already found that person – and he won't be blowing it.
He admits that as far as Carmella's concerned she loves him for who he is – but Karl interrupts, looking for Katya and Zeke. Neither Paul nor SebWill have seen them, and Susie calls on his mobile, wondering where they are. He tells her he'll check out Grease Monkeys, and leaves.
Paul tells SebWill that he's lost Carmella already – as soon as she finds out who he is, she'll leave him. So Paul bribes SebWill – either he sell his two per cent share in Lassiters, or he'll tell Carmella the truth. Unfortunately, SebWill can't do that – it's tied up in a Trust Fund; so Paul wants his backing on every vote that the owners need to make, he wants to control SebWill's share.
Ned comes in. Paul tells him he is “Mr 51%” now. So at the next Board meeting, Ned is fired.
At the house with the BigScarySantas™, Rosetta covers the remains of Carmella's scar with make up. She thinks the surgeons have done an amazing job. Carmella doesn't care; she has a real connection with Will, and he loves her regardless. Carmella realises that Rosetta is a bit down, and Rosie confesses that she threw herself at Frazer who ran screaming from the room.
Carmella doesn't think it's her inexperience that made Frazer run, but her sister says that from now on, she's sticking to her work!
Toadie and Steph sit on the floor, Katya and Zeke on the couch. Guy looks out the window. The phone rings ominously in manner of The Matrix.
Guy goes to answer the phone and Steph hisses at Katya to do something, even if it means lying – after all, she's good at that. Guy comes back and grabs Zeke by the neck, who looks up at his sister with big, wet eyes. Katya agrees to tell Guy where the money is – it's at the allotment, hidden under a Lilly Pilly tree. (Is that a real tree, or did she make that up, too?! )
An excellent tree name.
Guy has a mate nearby whom he'll send over to check the tree, but Katya claims she has to actually take Guy there. He doesn't like that:
GUY: You're stuffing around a person with a gun. That is not smart, Kathy!
Oooh. Not much gets past him, either. There's a knock at the door, and Rosie walks in. Let me get this straight – the DOOR ISN'T LOCKED??!?!?! The worst siege, like, ever! She comes in, and Guy introduces himself as Steph's cousin. Rosie announces that Katya can probably reduce her prison sentence if she pleads guilty and gives info on the car thieving ring she's involved with. Guy looks very interested to hear this information, and Toadie very loudly orders Rosetta out of the house.
Toadie then pleads with Guy to let them go, but he's not taking it. If Katya doesn't get him the cash, then she decides who is killed first.
Katya presses Zeke closer to her, and Toadie puts his arms round Steph.
Will can't believe that Frazer knocked Rosie back, but he claims he hasn't been honest with her about everything to do with his past. Will doesn't think that the past matters if he loves her, but Frazer doesn't want his relationship with Rosie to be based on a lie. Aw. Good man.
Will tells Frazer he has two options – be straight with her, or keep it hidden.
The Law Office
Rosie is in the office with Bob and there's a knock at the door. It's Paul – he figured she be the only person crazy enough to work tonight.
Paul says that the last time he was with her, his manners deserted him, and it was unforgivable, leaving her in the cellar like that. He apologises, and Rosie tells him that he should save his apologies for Lyn.
PAUL: We both know that I saved Lyn the greater misery in the long run.
ROSIE: Couldn't you at least have waited until after the honeymoon?
PAUL: How? When all I could see was your face?
Paul tells her that their time in the cellar was the most beautiful dream but also a nightmare. He admits that when he took off, he was running from himself, not from her. Paul then asks her why she isn't at home playing with her presents; she says that her present to herself was to have been with a man by midnight. But it hasn't happened. And it was childish anyway.
PAUL: Merry Christmas. It's only eight o'clock.
Karl is on the phone to Susan saying that he'll check Steph's one more time. Approaching number 32, he tells Susan that he'll ring the police now.
Guy asks Katya who it will be – Zeke or Steph?? Katya says nothing, so Guy starts choosing for himself when Charlie cries. Distracted by Steph jumping up to go to her son, Guy turns to her to order her back, and Zeke takes the opportunity to hit Guy with what looked like a laptop.
But it has no effect, and Guy grabs Zeke instead. Toadie leaps up and pushes Guy away from Zeke, throwing Guy to the ground. The gun slips from Guy's grasp, but Toadie doesn't see where it goes, and instead he checks Guy's clothing for it. He yells at Steph to get Charlie and get out.
Out in the street, Karl's on the phone asking for Steiger, and Katya and Zeke come running out the house, screaming for Karl to call the police. Steph runs out with Charlie, as Toadie continues to check for the gun. Steph thrusts Charlie into Zeke's arms and begs him to take her son away to safety. Zeke runs off with the baby, and Katya and Steph call for Toadie.
Inside the house, and unable to find the gun anywhere, Toadie leaves Guy behind, and runs towards the relieved trio waiting for him.
A gunshot rings out.
Running towards him, Karl catches Toadie just as he staggers forward into his arms. Steph and Katya run to Toadie, screaming his name.
The scene should have ended on Toadie's face, but Ten screwed up and cut to the credits too soon, so we end on Katya, her face worried as she stands next to Toadie's body.
