Recap
Susan wanting to know how much Stinger had to drink at the formal and Dylan finding a bottle in his jacket.
Max breaking down to Izzy over killing Cameron.
Lyn getting teary over No. 26 being on the market and that she couldn't save their business.
Zeke finding a picture of Katya in a girly magazine with not an awful lot covering her!
No. 28
Zeke brings the mag containing the pics of Katya inside and jumps when Katya comes out of her room as he is reading it. He quickly says he's got to get ready for footy leaving his sister bemused by his behaviour.
No. 26
Stinger is looking rather hungover as he makes his way into the kitchen to get a glass of water (personally I recommend Barrs Irn Bru!), just about managing to run into Harvey on the way through. After washing his face he notices a blue box lying on the bench and after giving his version of a profanity picks it up and notices that his hand is shaking. His attention is then brought to a bottle of wine sitting on the bench.
Scarlet Bar
A random woman comes into the bar to beg for money, saying it is for her son's medical expenses and Max hands her over some cash before she leaves. Izzy watches this from the bar and goes over to get Max to confirm how much he handed over (she thought $60 or 70). He tells her it was for a good cause and she replies that the money will be used on the pokies not the child's medical bills.
MAX: You don't know that.
IZZY: Hello, did you see the way she looked?
MAX: What, do I look like a killer Izzy? Do I?
IZZY: ...
MAX: Do I look like someone who'd drive over another man's son? Looks can be deceiving Izzy.
No. 26
Lyn and Susan enter the house with boxes to start packing because No. 26 has been sold to someone who hasn't seen the house...and have given 10% over the asking price too! Lyn is a bit surprised at this and Susan suggests that the buyer perhaps saw it on Making Mansions. Lyn then remarks that Susan may end up with some crazy person as her new neighbours.
SUSAN: Wouldn't be the first time.
LYN: Oh I hope you don't mean my family.
SUSAN: Yours or Janelle's. Take your pick!
Susan enquires if Lyn is going to stay on in the neighbourhood but Lyn doesn't think so given the price of houses and rules out going to stay at Anson's Corner.
SUSAN: Well you've got to find something within walking distance.
LYN: How far can you walk?
Susan laughs and we here Paul saying from the door "is across the road too far?" Both women have stunned looks on their face and Paul explains that he thought Lyn would like to live with him for a while...well as long as she wants. Susan decides to make herself scarce so Lyn can give Paul an answer but the scene finishes and we're still waiting.
No. 28
Susan spots Zeke playing with a bit of string and casually says that Alex said he did the same when he was on long flights or when he was really worried about something. So given they aren't 36,000 feet up in the air, she deduces that he must be worried about something and wonders if it was their chat they had last night. Zeke quickly says he got rid of the magazines because they are disgusting and immoral. Susan tells him that she didn't say that, and he wonders what sort of women would pose for those magazines just as Katya comes back into the house! Katya offers him a lift to footy but he replies that he'll walk, leaving her again bemused by his behaviour.
Susan tries to say it is just teenage boys but Katya tells Susan that he's been weird with her lately but Susan reassures her that it is nothing to do with her.
SUSAN: Let me tell you the tale of a boy, his ladder, his rat and a magazine.
No. 22
Paul is trying to convince Lyn to move in with him and tells her why but she is having none of it. He then tries apologises for letting her take the fall for the baby belt but it still isn't convincing Lyn. She asks if he has run it past Elle and Paul replies that if his daughter doesn't like it then she can lump it!
PAUL: Come on, say yes Lyn. I'll do anything.
LYN: I'm too aware of that.
Paul reassures her that he won't be repeating his actions of last week (trying to kill Max with a gun) but it still isn't washing with Lyn as she has Oscar's well being to consider.
PAUL: Lyn, I can assure you all of that is in the past.
LYN: Just like Gus is in the past?
PAUL: I told you I had nothing to do with that, Isabelle is a liar.
LYN: A few weeks ago I'd have believed ya but a lot has happened since then.
PAUL: Oh yeah, like my son being run down by your son in law.
LYN: Okay. You may have or may not have murdered someone. The fact that I have that doubt in my mind...I can't live here.
Scarlet Bar
Izzy finishes her call with Rosie as SMC comes into wish her a happy birthday complete with cake and candle. SMC hand over a pressie after Izzy blows the candle out and they chat about her call to Rosie. Rosie is apparently looking forward to seeing her daughter and Izzy adds that she is going to be staying as long as she can. Izzy opens the bag with the pressie and thanks SMC for the blanket and SMC explains that she thought it would come in handy. Very cryptic.
SMC notices that Izzy looks worried and Izzy explains that she is worried about Max and that she wants to help him but that he keeps shutting her and everyone else around him out.
SISTER MARY CATHERINE: Surely an enterprising girl like yourself can come up with a plan.
IZZY: A plan...
SISTER MARY CATHERINE: Hmmm
IZZY: For good rather than evil.
SISTER MARY CATHERINE: Yes
IZZY: That's novel.
No. 26
Rachel comes round to see Stinger complaining that she is still tired from the formal. He says that he's feeling fine, and explains that he had something to give her for the formal but forgot to give her it, and hands over the blue box we saw earlier. She opens it and finds it contains a silver pendant necklace and is really thrilled with it and kisses him to say thank you. Rachel quickly pulls back and asks if he has been drinking, which he totally denies especially since it is only 11am and instead puts the smell down to the pastie he ate. She reluctantly accepts his reasoning although it doesn't sound like it and he picks up on it too. He tells her that he wouldn't drink not when he has to work, then thanks her for telling him and promises to get some chewing gum on the way to work. They kiss before he leaves (she wants to see Bree) and Rachel is still suspicious that he's been drinking.
Scarlet Bar
Izzy offers Max a piece of the birthday cake and he apologises for forgetting her birthday. She then retells what happened on her 10th birthday - she was waiting ages for Bobby to turn up and take her to Luna Park so she could go on the ghost train but he never showed up, so Max took her instead just before the park closed - and wants to go to Luna Park today to go on the ghost train. Max agrees to go once he's finished unpacking something and when he leaves to do that, she gives SMC the thumbs up.
No. 28
Rachel is looking through photos of her and Stinger when Zeke arrives home and tells him that Bree is fine considering her boyfriend betrayed her! He denies this as he raids the fridge until Katya tells him not to or he won't be on for lunch. She enquires how footy training went, fine, then brings up the chat Susan had with him. Zeke replies that the conversation was none of her business and Katya says it is because she promised Alex that she'd bring you up to be a young man that he'd be proud of but he is still annoyed at her knowing about the magazines.
Katya leaves the house, and Zeke tells Rachel that Katya is a hypocrite and tries to tell her about Katya being in the magazine but she is having enough of it, citing that she has enough to worry about. He does get her attention when he blurts out that he saw Katya in a magazine.
RACHEL: What?!
Scarlet Bar
Lyn tells Susan that she turned Paul's invitation to move in down, which stuns Susan especially as she is dating the man. Lyn says that although they may be dating she isn't ready to move in with him yet and Susan tries to point out the obvious - a solution to her problem over where to stay.
LYN: Oh come on, I don't think convenient location is enough to make that commitment.
Izzy then drags Max through the bar and out the door, telling Susan and Lyn that they are off to Luna Park.
"Only Isabelle," replies Lyn before adding that the last thing Max needs is to be dragged off to Luna Park. Susan stands up for Izzy and Lyn mentions that Izzy told her something about Paul. Naturally, Susan wants to know what that was but Lyn refuses to blab bar saying that she hopes the fact Izzy is a liar means she can ignore what was said.
SUSAN: You sure she is lying?
LYN: It's what she does best.
Susan then says that isn't true atm and urges Lyn to double check because for once she may be telling the truth. Lyn is looking worried...real worried.
Luna Park
Izzy tells Max to hurry up so they can enter Luna Park because it won't be her birthday forever.
MAX: Oh wow! Look Izzy, a mouth nearly as big as yours.
IZZY: Ha-ha. What do you reckon the ghost train first and then try out luck on those laughing clowns?
MAX: Those clowns, I hate those clowns, what are they laughing about?
IZZY: I don't care. Oh. I want a ridiculously oversized teddy bear for my birthday.
MAX: Yeah, or what? You're gonna chuck a tantrum?
IZZY: You know I will.
MAX: Alright, okay those laughing clowns.
They join the queue for that then after walk through the park.
MAX: You know, I think I might just go over and get one of those double deep fried hotdogs or whatever it is that passes for food around here. Just watch.
IZZY: I'm not gonna go on the ghost train by myself.
MAX: Oh well, you'll make a friend in the queue.
IZZY: Thanks dad. You know, we're gonna have fun, even if it kills us. Stop being such a grump.
Izzy then drags him off presumably to the ghost train and we get a look of random people on the dodgems before we catch up with them again on the way to a rollercoaster ride Max wants to go on but Izzy doesn't as Sam Hawksley continues to play in the background.
MAX: Have you thought about the shock drop?
IZZY: No because I still have some smidge of rational thought.
MAX: Ah because you are a wimp.
IZZY: I'm not a wimp. I just like my rides that are level to the ground.
MAX: Because you are a wimp.
IZZY: Are you going to make this birthday of mine fun or not?
Max grumbles a response and Izzy playfully punches him on the arm. He does it back to her, so she grabs his cheeks and squeezes them. LOL.
No. 28
Zeke tells Rachel that he can't look Katya in the eye atm and she reminds him that he shouldn't have been looking at those sorts of magazines. His response is looking at them isn't as bad as being in them and that it is disgusting. Rachel tries to explain that life isn't clear cut and that people shouldn't be dismissed for making mistakes. "We all have choices," cried Zeke and Rachel replies that Katya make the wrong one. This seems to keep him quite and she almost dares her brother to tell Katya that he knows about the magazine. He doesn't want to, so Rachel says that they should destroy the magazine.
Zeke goes to get the magazine out of his bag and realise it isn't there and asks Rachel if she has taken it out. "No," replies Rachel and he realises that the magazine is gone.
RACHEL: What do you mean gone?
He explains that he took it to footy practice so Katya wouldn't find it...and then realises that someone has taken it out of his bag. Rachel sends him off to quickly go get it and he almost knocks Susan down in his haste to exit. Susan asks where Zeke is flying off to and simply replies that she doesn't know.
Susan notices the pendant Stinger gave her and when Rachel isn't exactly gushing over it wonders what is up. Rachel tells Susan that she is worried about Stinger drinking. Somehow this isn't news to Susan and she admits that this was one of the reasons she didn't want Rachel to go out with him - that she shouldn't be dealing with adult issues at her age. Rachel admits that she just wants to help him before it gets too much of an issue and Susan replies that might not be possible before giving her a comfort hug.
Luna Park
Back to Izzy, Max and Sam Hawksley! Izzy is overjoyed when Max wins a prize for her...although it isn't the cuddly teddy bear she wanted but a cuddly cow instead!
As they walk though the park, Izzy tells her brother that her plan worked - he's back to being her big brother, even if it did take all day! Max is taken a back by what she has said, so Izzy tells him that he's been walking around in a daze these past few weeks. He thinks it is her way of wanting more attention but she then tells him that he should be paying his wife and kids more attention too.
MAX: You don't know what you are talking about.
IZZY: Yeah, no sorry, I do. Its time to snap out of it or you're going to lose them.
MAX: I've just been charged with manslaughter for gods sakes.
IZZY: Yeah and even more reason. You need them now more than ever.
MAX: Look I've told you I can't stop thinking about it.
IZZY: Yeah well I'm sorry Max but you are going to have to stop thinking about it okay.
MAX: Well it's not that easy.
IZZY: I know. You're not going to find anyone to love you as much as Steph does and I'm not going to be here and you know I'm not going to be around to support you... Okay.
MAX: (nodding head) Yeah, okay Izzy.
IZZY: Guess what. (holding the cuddly cow up) You're going to have to get Charlie one of these.
MAX: Can't he have yours?
IZZY: Dream on!
They then play fight for a few seconds before Max half hugs Izzy, looking a lot happier.
Grease Monkey's (night)
Zeke arrives to find the boys from the footy team looking at the magazine...and the pictures of Katya. He demands that they give it back but Garrett (he who wanted to date Rachel a few months ago) refuses and asks what he is going to do...get his big sister onto him? Zeke is trying hard to look menacing and Garrett tells him to take his best shot so Nurse Katya can kiss it better for him. It looks like he's pushed Zeke too far with that one, so Zeke pushes him backwards a tiny amount while grabbing the magazine. He tells Garrett that he isn't worth it before turning and leaving with the magazine in his hand.
GARRETT: Well at least we made a few copies eh.
Scarlet Bar
Max obviously went back to win another cuddly toy for Charlie but this time it's a massive teddy bear. Stinger remarks as he is cleaning Izzy's table remarks that at least Charlie won't choke on it given its size! Max tells Izzy he's going to head off to tidy the house up before Steph and Charlie get back from Bendigo and Izzy thanks him for the best birthday ever.
SISTER MARY CATHERINE: Operation big brother a success!
Paul then enters the bar and makes a remark about the teddy she is holding before handing over a birthday present to her. She tells him that he shouldn't have and wonders what he is after! He replies that it is private...so they head into the office.
Izzy tells him to spit it out and Paul replies that he is after a favour...a big favour.
IZZY: You're losing your touch. What happened to blackmail or good old fashioned thuggery?
PAUL: I need you to lie for me.
IZZY: To Lyn?
(Paul indicates that she is right)
IZZY: Ah already! Gosh she really has captivated your little black heart hasn't she?
Paul says that he wouldn't ask if it wasn't important, but she turns down his request so he tries the heart strings approach by saying "even if my future happiness depends upon it?"
IZZY: My future happiness depends on me turning over a new leaf and I'm sorry but that's not part of the programme.
PAUL: Get off your high horse. Come on, there must be something you need, some little favour. Cover-up perhaps? Come on, you name it and I'll do it for you.
(Izzy then thinks for a few second.)
IZZY: Maybe I do have a little secret that I don't want coming out.
PAUL: Good. Well then maybe we can help each other. Mmm.
No. 32
A "surprised" Izzy opens the door to Lyn and asks if she has a minute as it is important. Izzy heads into the kitchen with Lyn following as she is preparing dinner. Lyn gets straight to the point and asks if Paul (who has just appeared at the front door which Izzy forgot to close and with supersonic hearing is bound to hear what is being said) had anything to do with Gus' death. Izzy laughs off what Lyn has just said and Lyn tells her that she heard but Izzy isn't in the mood for talking about this right now. Lyn is now getting a bit annoyed and asks that Izzy tells her the truth. Paul now decides to leave, just as Izzy promises to tell Lyn the truth!
