Recap
- Izzy taking a random guy clubbing.
- Max telling Paul to sort Izzy out.
- Serena telling Connor Miss Erinsborough is now Mr Erinsborough
Bounce
Connor is trying to tell Serena he doesn't want to enter the Mr Erinsborough competition because he'd die of humiliation but tough luck Connor because Serena says you are entering it. A random customer brings her partner in to sign up for the competition and whilst he is doing the paperwork with Connor, Serena takes her aside to show off the swimwear. At the counter, Connor assumes the bloke hasn't got a brain until the guy tells him he is doing a doctorate in English! After being humiliated, Connor heads over to Serena who has persuaded the random customer to try on a swimsuit and tells Serena that she could sell a bikini to an Eskimo and as her reward, offers to shout her lunch from the Scarlet Bar.
The General Store
David and Lil discuss Connor and think they can use him to persuade Serena to carry on with her studies just as he comes into the bar - is that coincidence or what! - and invite him to sit with them.
In the office as Max gets on his best gear for his appointment with the bank manager, he tells Steph about the trouble Karl is in. Steph doesn't believe them but Max cites his track record with the women. Now smartly dressed in a suit he heads out to the bank but not before Steph tells him what Izzy did the previous night - declared an open bar which cost them about $200 before Steph closed it and arranged for Connor to put Izzy into a taxi. She tells him that a bar is no place for Izzy to be working in atm and Max is in agreement and hopes that the bank manager does too by lending them money to buy Izzy out...but not by financially killing them.
No. 22
Izzy gets her day off to a start by popping some more pills and ignoring Paul's offer of making her breakfast to help cure her hangover. Izzy asks when she arrived home, just after midnight, then if she came home alone. Paul replies that it sounded like it and then gives her a mini-lecture about picking up the wrong guy. Izzy wonders then if he is worried about her but he doesn't answer her. Almost begging, she tells him she can't be alone and Paul's solution as she starts to cry is to make her more coffee.
Lassiters Complex
Whilst Lou rigs together some speakers, Susan and Alex leave the store and he bemoans about the possible influence of Bree rubbing off on his kids (Rachel's room was a mess that morning). She has to bail though to get back to work just as the speakers come into life blaring music out into the courtyard. Lou starts doing his air guitar routine again but Harold is most displeased when he comes out to see what the racket is. Lou thinks it will attract more punters but the ones who were sitting there have now disappeared. He then suggests making the name of the store funkier by using the letters T.G.S. but Harold just thinks dementia has set into Lou! Ned passes by and Lou asks him what he thinks about the music but country bumpkin Ned replies that he isn't keen on it and Harold suggests Lou eats a slice of humble pie.
LOU: He's from the country. They're ten years behind the time!
Lou scuttles off and Harold thanks Ned for his impeccable timing and Ned takes the chance to ask if there is any work going. Harold tells him not today but suggests that he goes round knocking on doors to get work that way, which Ned thinks is a great idea.
The Scarlet Bar
David and Lil chat to Connor about not standing in Serena's way if she decides to go to university so she can then get a better class of job. Serena though comes in and overhears her parents putting the heavy on him and him promising to talk to her.
No. 22
As per Harold's suggestion "Stu's spunky little brother" is doing the rounds to get some work in Ramsay Street but Izzy decides to head back to bed to get more sleep after turning down Paul's suggestion for her to have the day off just so she can see the look of Max and Steph's face when she walks in. Paul answers the door and initially turns Ned away before inviting him in after spotting he is from the country and suggests to him that he might have left a few broken hearts behind when he left, he may have, and Paul asks him to take a seat.
Bounce
Connor returns with the burgers (and after confirming he didn't see anyone when he was out) starts talks to Serena about Uni as per his conversation with David and Lil...but Connor stops and fesses up about meeting her parents when he was out but does agree with them that she is smart and has potential. After a little pash, it is Serena's turn for confession as she admits to seeing him at the bar and suggests they get their revenge on her parents.
The General Store
Max gives Steph the good news that the bank manager has agreed to give them the money to buy Izzy out and Max has started the ball rolling by leaving a message on Izzy's mobile. Steph suggests they both tell her but Max would prefer to do it by himself given Izzy's moods lately but their conversation is interrupted by a moose being strangled...oh no it is David "playing" the tuba in the kitchen! Lil enters and wonders why David is "playing" since Paul isn't there, he wants to learn a new skill, so she tells him (with back up from Harold) that he doesn't have a musical bone in his body let alone trying to read music, keep time or even keep a tune!
They all head through to the store and Lil asks what time the council meeting is tonight, 7pm and David adds that if it is left up to him then Paul will have to build his monstrosity somewhere else. Lil wonders if Paul would move if permission was denied and David confesses that is what he is hoping for. Harold leaves as a happy Serena comes if after having a chat with Connor and now she sees the world so clearly and would love to chat more with them if they agree to buy her and Connor dinner. Lil immediately says yes but David brings up about the council meeting and they settle for 8pm in TGS hoping that the meeting finishes quickly. Serena departs and they have a quick congratulatory kiss since they think she is going to go to Uni!
Ramsay Street
Lou is trying to tell Harold about the demographics of potential customers as ShirtlessNed does some work for Paul. ShirtlessNed tells Paul he's finished doing the edges and what else can he do? After handing Ned some money, tells him to carry on as per instructions before he heads into his car and drives off.
Lou asks Ned if he is planning on auditioning for the Chippendales (well he does have a nice body!) and also about the tool belt he is wearing since all he is doing is gardening. ShirtlessNed explains that it was part of the instructions - wear the belt, lose the shirt and be nice to Miss Hoyland - which he thinks is easy money as the work is easy. Quietly to Lou, Harold hopes that Ned's moral coppas will tell him the right thing to do.
LOU: Oh come on, he's a hot-blooded young male and she's a piranha! (pause while Harold leaves) She's going to eat him alive...lucky sod!
No. 28
Susan talks to Karl on the phone about Janae's allegations as Alex pops round with some wine and flowers for her. Susan thanks him and he proceeds to show Susan a photo of his late wife (Francesca) and admits that he still loves her with all his heart and hopes she understands that.
Scarlet Bar
Izzy turns up to chat looking a right mess and Max tells her to go into the office. After telling him that he doesn't scare her any more he tells her that she looks awful (she does) but Izzy replies that she feels fantastic! Getting straight to the point, Max tells her about getting the money from the bank and that he wants to buy her out and will even get the lawyers onto it tomorrow. Izzy isn't exactly grateful for the offer and starts to lose the plot. After giving him some verbal abuse and grabbing him by the face too, tells him where he can stick his offer before storming out of the office back into the bar.
Outside in the bar, Steph nervously chews her fingernails waiting for news. Max tries to get Izzy's attention again by calling her name and she turns round to look at him but she doesn't watch where she is going continues walking and roughly bangs into Steph, which sends her flying head first into the hard counter.
No. 28
Alex tells Susan about the deal he has made with his kids before apologising for telling Susan that he still loves his wife. She accepts what he has said and asks if it rules her out of being with him. Alex says no but it is complicated... because he has fallen in love with her. Aww and he calls her darling too as he says goodnight and goodbye to her (he's going to Canberra but they'll phone while he is away).
The General Store
David tells the bad news to Lil and Harold - Paul got the permission he needs just as Connor and Serena walk in. They head towards a table and Paul comes in and is surprised to hear form Harold that the plans were approved. Back at the table where there must be a shortage of chairs since Serena is sitting on Connor's knee, she tells them that she has had a change of heart - she is going to forget about her job to concentrate on being a wife and mother! David and Lil's chins just about his the floor and it gets worse for them as Serena tells them they want a large family! Lil wonders if Serena is pregnant already and Connor replies no, well not yet! Connor and Serena gush with each other about their love and becoming parents as Lil and David struggle to let the news sink in.
Hospital
Max is very relieved to see Steph come out of a consulting room with news that the baby is fine. They hug and kiss each other before heading home to let Izzy know that everything is fine.
No. 30
Connor and Serena are still on a high after playing their joke on her parents but Connor likes the idea...in the future though.
No. 22
ShirtlessNed comes in to ask if there is anymore he can do for Izzy but she yells at him to go. Izzy answers the door to Max and is relieved to hear the good news about the baby. Max takes the opportunity to tell Izzy what a nightmare she has lately become. Izzy isn't pleased to hear this and once Max leaves she does into her bag for some more pills, which she then swallows with the now shirted Ned observing.
