Recap
Lyn giving Lou some life-coaching.
Max asking how Izzy is doing.
Coffee Shop
Connor plays "peek-a-boo" with an amused Maddy in the pram and doesn't hear Carmella approach. He introduces the two, Carmella as "the other woman in my life" and goes back to Maddy. She points out she didn't get her kiss hello and he obliges. Connor then excitedly goes back to Maddy, having thought she imitated the kissy noise. He proudly says she sometimes imitates sounds, having been advanced for her age. Izzy walks in and gets iffy at Connor to move the pram so she can get to the kitchen, so they quickly move. Once in the kitchen, she freaks out a bit and ignores Karl, who has called her on the mobile.
The Pub
Lou approaches Lyn and Jack at their table as he would like advice about reconciling with his son, Guy. Lyn is enthused at the prospect, citing that if Susan and Karl can do it, so can Lou! He is confused at what she means, but Lyn keeps referring to when Karl's demons resurfacing when Izzy lost the baby and Susan having to put him together. Evidently, Lou had no idea about this at all. Lyn quickly moves on, the point is that she told him so he too can rid his inhibitors as this proves no relationship is beyond repair.
Coffee Shop
Max enquires about how Izzy has been doing, even inviting her and Karl for dinner that night. She abruptly finishes that Karl is in Queensland as Billy is having financial troubles. Max has a hard time believing that Karl would just leave her alone...but she insisted. She assures Max she's not going to crumble into a thousand pieces if she doesn't go over their house. Max tries to reason with her after she says she's fine, it's perfectly normal to scream and shout. He quietly suggests talking to Dr Levi...she cuts him off, thinking they should be honest about the situation. She never had maternal instincts and it'd be difficult to picture her talking about baby stuff. She would have made a beautiful mother...Max tries to interject but she keeps going on. Reality is, the pregnancy was an accident and lost it by accident. In some ways, she has been "let off the hook".
The Pub
LYN: You cannot predict or control what Guy wants or is. You can only know who Lou is and what Lou wants.
She adds another slip of paper to the "Lou cup" and prompts that his first action step is to ring Guy up. Lou is excited, but what happens if he hangs up? Lyn tells him to stop his "black hat thinking" and put his "green hat" on. Lou says she's a genius!
No.32
Max reads out a postcard from Valda and her adventures on the cruise. She has been champion of the Cha-cha comp for the past few weeks and besides having a great time, she's gone to spend some time with Doreen, Charlie's sister. When he's done reading, Summer points out that he hasn't even said how she looks. (Summer is wearing a green sparkly top) He says she looks lovely, very nice.
SUMMER: Nice? I don't want to look nice.
MAX: Okay, what ah about cool, grouse, hawt?
SUMMER: Oh gross, it's just gross when old people try to talk like that.
MAX: Oh, well what do you want me to say then?
SUMMER: Just say what you really think, that I look stupid and ugly.
MAX: You don't look stupid and ugly Summer, you look beautiful. The boys won't knows what's hit him.
SUMMER: Oooh dad. (runs off to get changed)
Izzy then pops with a huge box full of baby clothes. She starts showing all the different colours and babbling away. Max is concerned, and wants her to sit down and have a chat, but Izzy has to go. She is also going to go out dancing on her own at the Cube tonight, so can't chat then. Summer, changed into a pink coat comes back out and pulls on Max to get going to the Under 18s dance.
Community Hall
Max, as the concerned over protective parent pulls up straight into the front of the dance. He further embarrasses Summer by waving to some of her friends hanging about outside. Summer is not impressed.
SUMMER: Oh god this is so embarrassing, do you even know how old I am? You know you wouldn't treat me like this if I was taller.
She stubbornly sits in the car, as Max opens the car door for her. Before she can get out, he yells out more humiliating parent talk.
MAX: Put away your rosaries boys, your prayers have been answered!
Summer shakes her head and stalks off, but can't escape before Max yells out that he will be here at 9:30. This is followed by laughter from the kids.
Lassiter's
Lyn and Jack stroll along the complex, talking about Jack's life. He's been keeping his goals, "finding the power within". They get to a cab and he informs Lyn that he has decided to "action his own step" by going to a club and testing himself. She is extremely worried, thinking it's too soon but he needs his ma to trust him. Besides, by the time he pays for the cab fare, he'll only be able to afford water. He's about to leave but Lyn stops him and hands him some money. If doesn't have any money, it defeats the purpose of testing himself. Jack promises she'll get it back and kisses her goodbye.
Coffee Shop
Lou happily chats to Izzy about the change in his life and it can also be the same for her, all she has to do is ask for help and acknowledge who she is. He asks her to imagine "a cup full of Izzy Hoyland". He points out how great she and Karl have sorted things out with Susan. She has great maturity not to feel threatened by Susan, trusting in him when he turns to her for help. For example, the instance when he went back onto the bottle and Susan had to put him back together. At that moment, Lyn walks in and Izzy politely informs Lou that he has no idea it happened. Lou is horrified and apologies but Izzy ignores it.
IZZY: It's fine, what's one more bit of gossip between 'caring and sharing friends' that have always been there for me!
No.30
Connor cuddles Maddy on the couch, talking to her that she should adjust her aim next time when she throws her food. He believes the top Carmella was wearing was dry-clean only. He wants her to like Carmella, as he likes her a whole lot. Carmella silently watches over this and smiles.
Coffee Shop
Lou reprimands Lyn on watching what she says, these are people's lives she is playing with.
LYN: You're the one that went blabbing to her!
LOU: Only after you went blabbing to me!
The ability to gossip doesn't make her a life coach and while he knows her intentions were good, Lou hopes she doesn't think she can make a living out of it.
Cube
Before Jack enters the club, a offers him something "on the house" but he declines and goes inside. He grabs his bottle of water from the bar and we see Izzy crazily dancing. She ends up going to the same table where Jack is and they are both surprised to find one another. "I'm trying to figure out if I'm an alien or if everyone else is!" They get chatting away, Izzy egging him on to buy her a drink but Jack can't. He tells her about the promise he made to his mother and she just laughs, not believing the situation.
IZZY: Come on Jack, you and I can't go straight no matter how hard we try. We are as bent as.
JACK: As...?
IZZY: As...how bent can you make it?
No.30
Connor asks Maddy if he gives her one more kiss and cuddle will she go to sleep? He asks if Carmella wants to give her a kiss, but she doesn't think Maddy is the kind of girl to kiss strangers. He says she's not a stranger, and sweetly sings to Maddy.
CONNOR: (sings) There's a girl I know called Maddy, who likes to laugh at her daddy, when he goes like this .
No.32
Max sighs, putting the phone and tells Steph that it went to message bank again. Frustrated, he says to Steph that Izzy has done this her entire life. Bottles all her feelings inside and then tries to self-destruct. He thinks she should be with people who are about her and is about to down to the club before Steph volunteers herself instead. Although she doesn't have many woman friends, she does have her believes she is more than capable of handling someone who is falling apart. Max is grateful for this and Steph replies she'll just play it by ear once she gets down there.
Community Hall
Moody Summer doesn't reply to Max's questions as they make their way to the car. He tries to understand, even asking if she and Caleb had a good time...though Caleb wasn't there Summer tells him. She says he just doesn't understand.
SUMMER: Well if you cared about me than you would get it.
MAX: That's not fair Summer.
SUMMER: You know what? Sometimes I think that you don't understand me at all and you just want me to be a baby for the rest of my life so that you don't have to care about the way I feel or the way I think or anything!Max sighs.
No.30
Connor comes back out, having finally put Maddy to sleep. He tells Carmella Lori wanted him to try a technique of letting them cry and cry, but he couldn't bring himself to do that. Carmella flatly replies she can't believe they're having this conversation and he apologies, as today has quite baby crazy. He wonders where they stand...but Carmella answers he has no idea how cute he is when he changes the nappy and she understands. However, she won't be "the other woman" and he sings the same tune to her. "There's a girl I know called Carmella, who likes to laugh at her fella..."
No.32
Summer sullenly sits on the couch, putting down Max's attempts to open her up and his offer at being an "honorary girl". It's just a girl thing, but Max is concerned she'll implode if she doesn't talk. With Steph not there, she suggests Nana Scully.
The scene then switches to Lyn in Max's place on the couch.
SUMMER: It's good to have someone who actually understands.
Summer tells of how all the girls kiss the boys, with tongues and everything and she doesn't feel comfortable with that. Caleb wasn't there...but if he had of, she guesses she'd have to do it. Lyn firmly tells her she doesn't have to do anything she's not comfortable with. Summer freaks out that something is wrong with her because she doesn't like kissing but Lyn laughs, certain that she's just not ready. From experience with her own daughters, all of them felt exactly the same way but now they love kissing.
Cube
Izzy and Jack continue to dance together and she soon motions him to lean in closer. He first resists and Izzy whispers that Karl has gone away for awhile...and she doesn't know how much clearer she can make it. At that point, Steph appears at the club and starts scanning for Izzy. Jack asks what about Karl? But Izzy doesn't care what Karl thinks and starts to kiss him. Steph finally sees Izzy...kissing Jack.
