POOL AT NO.24
David & Sky plan the trip to Bogong Lake on the quiet. Harold calls Sky inside and Harold then becomes suspicious about why Sky has given in so easy about going after the duck hunter. Sky leaves the room and Serena tells Harold & Lil that they should let Sky go, but Harold won't have a bar of it.
Lyn is moving in for a few days due to renovations along with the absent Valda and Michelle. Michelle is to stay in Billy's room, Valda in Mal's room and Lyn in Libby's room, with young Oscar in Ben's crib. Susan offers the couch for the absent Jack, but Lyn says he's made other arrangements, staying with Karl. The atmosphere becomes a little awkward until Susan changes the subject to their proposed psychology classes that they are taking together. Lyn is a bit nervous about it.
Harold & Lil discuss Kerry & David as kids. Complete opposites but David idolised Kerry. "Thick as thieves," he says. But then one day they had a falling out, but Harold never knew why.
After their class, Susan & Lyn chat about it. Lyn couldn't keep up whilst Susan blitzed, or so Lyn said. Susan mentioned that Max had been strange with her the other day and Lyn sees an opportunity to tell her about Karl's outburst with Gus of the other night, but doesn't take it.
Lou is driving into the bush.
Lil & Scott are at the counter, talking about Serena and Scott going to school. Lil decides to tell Scott "you're not Serena's type." Scott leaves quickly. Lil turns to Lyn and says "Poor little man, I think I just broke his heart!" Lyn replies "Oh dear. I had noticed the longing looks he's been throwing your way." "Ha ha," replies Lil. Lil says that she had to be honest and Lyn comments that she should take that advice with Susan.
OUTSIDE COFFEE SHOP
David & Sky are leaving and bump into Lil. Lil is not happy when she finds out what they are doing but David is firm. He tells her that Harold is not to know.
Lou arrives at a country home but there is no answer at the door. He calls out "Lolly? It's dad!" but no noise at all. He then notices that the home is deserted and sees a 'for lease' sign on the ground. He looks upset as he says "oh, Lolly."
Scott starts manically cutting up magazines for some sort of art work.
Lyn tells Susan about Karl's outburst and Susan reacts badly, shooting the messenger. She goes off at Lyn and is obviously feeling hurt and betrayed. She walks off in tears.
Harold is worried about Lou thinking it is "very peculiar" that he hasn't been around for a few days. Harold picks up on Lil's strange mood and Lil tries to cover but then comes clean on David & Sky's plan. Harold storms out of the coffee shop with Lil in tow.
Scott gives Serena his artwork which is a collage of different shapes cutouts. Serena is insensitive about it when he admits that he did the work. "What? When you were 5?" she says. He laughs it off but is clearly hurt. Serena keeps going on about her toddler art and comparing the two. He leaves quickly but Serena is oblivious to his hurt.
David & Sky arrive to try and find the duck hunters or even a protestors headquarters. Sky is upset to find no one around and gets teary. David comforts her and then apologises saying that Kerry's death is "all my fault".
NO.30 & NO.24 (intercut scenes - Dangerzone playing over the scenes)
Scott comes back in to no.30 and angrily throws the remnants of his art around the kitchen. Serena is again looking at the artwork. She turns it upside down and realises that a red heart is in the middle of it, with a gold 'S' below. Back to Scott, baking a full tray of fish fingers. Serena is looks on the back of the artwork to find a written message "Dear Serena, Thanks for the loan of the book. From Scotty" She again smiles. Scott is getting more agitated as he guzzle a bottle of tomato sauce.
David explains that he always hung around with Kerry. "She let me tag along." He explains that Kerry was outgoing whilst he was the quiet, studious type. "She was so strong, your mother. So self assured. So fearless. Everything I wasn't". David says he began to resent the differences because compared to her, he was failure. He tried to stand on his own two feet but it created a gulf between them.
Susan apologises to Lyn for her outburst and says she realises that she could never take Karl back. "It's one thing to suspect something, but a different thing when it is confirmed."
Lou's car runs out of petrol. Lou abandons the car, leaving the keys in the ignition and the door open as he walks away up the road.
David tells Sky of a blazing row between he and Kerry, after which they never spoke again. He felt responsible for her death because he wasn't there to protect her as he "owed her" for fighting his battles as a kid. Sky sees the duck hunter in the background and runs up to him, knocking him to the ground, screaming "Murderer!" as she punches him. David tries in vain to pull her off.
