Recap
- Michelle returns home.
- Lou makes a dodgy business deal on the phone.
- Michelle walks in on Connor and Carmella kissing.
Number 30
Connor introduces Michelle and Carmella to one another. He's very nervous to have them in the same room. Michelle says she just popped over to say hello, and says to Connor that she's going to be around for a while and they should catch up. She makes a hasty retreat leaving Carmella looking worried.
Pub Office
Lou hands over an envelope full of cash as his first installment to Rocco. He says that the mobile phones sold really quickly. Rocco offers him some other merchandise to sell. Max pops his head in, looking wary when he sees Rocco. He asks Lou if he can make a phone call in the office, Lou says he won't be long.
Number 30
Connor is trying to put Carmella's mind at ease over Michelle. He tells her he had no idea that she was going to be back. He says to her that he and Michelle "are a non-event" and it's her that he wants to be with. Connor kisses her on the head, but looks conflicted.
Surgery/Law Firm
Lil finds a post-it on her computer screen that says 'Read me', one on her cup that says 'Drink me' and when she looks up at David, he has one on his mouth that says 'Kiss me'. She laughs and kisses him, saying that they'll have to be quiet and behave so the boss doesn't make a fuss. Karl comes out for his next patient and tells Lil that she has a performance review the next day. Lil looks worried.
An area where shady deals take place
Rocco shows Lou what he wants him to sell - 'Falsetto' Stereo speakers. Lou's unsure at first, but Rocco gives him a very convincing business spiel reading a positive review from 'Amped Up' magazine. Lou says he'll take 10 in cash when Rocco offers them to him for $500 a piece.
Karl's Office
Harold's telling Karl what the neuro-psychologist told him, that he has to re-learn how to be himself. He admits to Karl that he did try something the day before, he gave away a muffin to someone. Karl asks how he felt. "Oh, shocking. Well it left the till $3.50 short." Karl says that Harold does have the ability to get himself back to normal if he wants to.
Surgery/Law Firm
Lil makes an appointment for a lady then calls her a gold digger when she leaves. David's surprised, but Lil says it's the lady's third appointment that week. She then says that the amount of single women wanting an appointment with Karl has risen ever since he separated from Susan. David says he hasn't noticed, and Lil rolls her eyes, "Men are so blind."
Scullys
Jack asks Michelle how Connor was. She lies at first, saying he wasn't there, but then admits to Jack that she found him with Carmella. Michelle wonders how many other girls there's been. Jack hesitates for a second and says "One, maybe two. Nothing serious." Michelle says she had this big fantasy of how her and Connor's reunion would be, and how stupid it seems now. "Now I'm starting to wonder if moving away from him was the dumbest thing I ever did."
Outside Lou's Place
Lou's trying to hawk the speakers to the public. Harold comes by and unintentionally annoys Lou by asking if he needs a license for that sort of thing. Lou gets him to be quiet when he makes Harold a cheap deal on a set. Harold's quite pleased.
Surgery/Law Firm
Lil asks Serena to pick up a dessert for them for tomorrow night when Susan comes around for dinner. Serena whines that it's weird having her teacher around the house, especially since all these rumors about Karl and Susan have been flying around school. Lil says that she needs a friend right now. Serena leaves, and the lady patient from before asks how much longer her appointment will be. Lil tells Mrs. Wilson she can head in right now. "Actually, it's Ms Wilson," says the lady. "Of course it is," snits Lil.
Pub
Lou's endeavoring to sell some speakers to Karl. Max is in the background getting annoyed that Lou isn't helping him out. Karl gets Lou down to $800 (from $1500) and they have a deal. Max asks Lou for some help and Lou says he will in a minute. Karl says that Lou should see if Susan wants to buy some.
Number 30
Connor and Carmella are enjoying their dinner until Rocco calls Carmella on her mobile. Connor starts choking on his food, and Carmella tries to cover by saying she's at the zoo for the twilight jazz night and it's an elephant. When she's off the phone, Connor says maybe them being together isn't such a good idea with Rocco still loitering around. Carmella gets mad and thinks it's because of Michelle. "Michelle and I are over, okay, a long time ago. I don't want to see her, I don't want to speak to her, I don't even want to think about her." Carmella looks upset, "Who are you trying to convince?" She leaves and Connor looks distressed.
Karl's Office
It's time for Lil's performance review. Karl says that her computer skills improved greatly, and even though Lil made her feelings about Karl perfectly clear when he and Susan split up, her attitude regarding him has improved. She thinks she's in the clear until Karl says that he found an interesting e-mail yesterday in the trash. He reads, "David, I don't know how much longer I can put up with Karl's arrogance. He talked to me like I'm a school kid. How did Susan stay married to an up himself snob for so long? And what's this tripe about the handsome Dr. Kennedy? Has he ever watched himself drain the bottom of a cup of instant soup?" Lil squirms in her seat while Karl tells her he's giving her a month's notice, then she'll have to find another job.
Scullys
Lou comes by to see if any of the Scullys want to buy some speakers. Jack rushes off to work leaving Lou alone with Valda. She says she'll buy some for Jack since he's been working so hard lately. She gets out her chequebook asking whom she makes it out to, "Lou Carpenter, Executive Producer? Or um, Theatrical Impresario?" Valda chuckles to herself.
Pub
Lou's trying to make a sale with some customers when Max asks him for a chat. "In a minute, mate." "You've had a minute, about six months worth." They go and chat in the office. Max asks if he's going to have to run the place by himself. Lou says he's trying to earn some money, and Max says to him that he should be doing that by putting all he has into making the pub the best he can.
Bishops
Serena answers the door to Susan. She's the only one home and looks uncomfortable at the thought of having to chat with Susan. Susan says she knows it must be awkward for her, but for tonight she should just think of her as one of her mum and dad's friends, and not a teacher. Serena agrees and lets her in, smiling.
Pub
Valda, Jack and Michelle are in for dinner. Rocco and Carmella also stop by so Rocco can have a quick chat with Lou. Connor comes in for work, right on schedule for his worst nightmare. He makes a beeline for Max. Max tells him that there might be something wrong with his lager, but Connor says he's had no other complaints. He runs away when Rocco stares at him. Michelle has been watching all this time and Jack catches her staring.
Bishops
Serena is actually enjoying chatting to Susan. She hesitantly brings up Karl and Susan separating and wonders if they've really broken up. Susan says she'll put the rumors to rest now and says they have, and even jokes that contrary to staff room gossip, she isn't having an affair with Mr. Franklin either. Serena confides that she thought her mum and dad might have divorced after her dad's business failed and he lied, but Susan assures her that David and Lil seem really solid. Serena is happy.
Ramsay Street
Connor sees Michelle coming back from the shops and they talk. She asks him why he and Carmella ignored each other at the pub yesterday and he gets defensive saying it's none of her business. Michelle decides to walk away when Connor says, "Don't forget you're the one that dumped me five minutes after getting off the plane. Oh, and thanks for the birthday card. 'Happy birthday, and by the way, you've just been dropped for an all-American pie called Chet'." Michelle says that he hasn't been alone either. She says she thought they loved each other, but clearly Carmella is the girl he wants. "The only girl I ever wanted left me," Connor retorts. Michelle doesn't know what to say.
