Summer telling Max about Declan - Stu and Susan having a confrontation
The Coffee Shop:
Susan apologises to Stu about what happened, but he doesn't actually say sorry in return. She says that he can talk to her at any time, and he says "likewise". He gives her this big Life Mechanics spiel full of car analogies & Susan asks if everyone talks like that at the meetings. He gives her a LM flier and says she can come and see for herself.
Karl comes home and Taj can see he is acting quite oddly. Taj suggests that Karl could maybe do with a coffee. Karl gets quite defensive and wants to know why Taj insinuated he could do with a coffee, instead of asking if he'd like one. Taj says it's because Karl's obviously been drinking.
Kennedy's - Morning:
Susan is telling Karl about her concerns for Stu with Taj backing her up, but Karl is acting weird and saying that Susan is just playing the martyr. He gives Taj a bit of a hard time when he stays on Susan's side, and Susan asks Karl what's wrong with him.
Summer is talking about doing boxing lessons. Max says he's not sure but is going to talk to Summer's sports teacher to see what he thinks. Steph thinks it's a good idea but Izzy disagrees. Max was going to take Summer to school. Steph told Max she would get her stuff and go but Max asked her to stay and talk to Izzy. Max said Izzy is a good person she's just not sure how to show it and needs someone like Steph to help her.
Karl comes back from work when Susan's gone, and Taj is still there, saying he forgot something. He starts talking about Susan getting all moral over what Stu's doing, then says it's the same with his drinking. He says it's best to keep quiet about these things to "keep the peace". He asks how Taj knew he had been drinking, and Taj says his dad used to drink when he was younger. Karl asks Taj to keep it from Susan so she doesn't make an issue of it. Taj agrees but looks troubled.
Izzy is in the kitchen doing the dishes. Steph comes in and helps her. Izzy says it's ok she'd rather do it herself. Steph tells Izzy she's not out to take her place so there's no need for her to feel threatened. Izzy tells Steph she's not threatened. Izzy asks Steph if she wants a coffee. Steph says a herbal tea and goes to make it. Steph comments about them not being comfortable around each other. Izzy asks if they have to be. Steph says it would be nice as Libby is away and Dee is gone. (Steph talked about Dee and how much she misses her).
The Coffee Shop:
Max and Summer are at the coffee shop. Summer asks Max when Steph is moving back in. Max tells her they haven't talk about it yet. Max tells Summer that Steph still has a lot of treatment to go. Summer says they will help her though it. Max tells Summer it's up to Steph and he doesn't want to rush her. A group of school boys walk in. Summer looks at them and Declan makes a fish face at her. Max turns around and asks him if there is a problem.
Izzy admits that she does give off a vibe when she's around Steph and she feels like a ditz because Steph is strong and good at everything. Steph admits that she feels like a bogan around Izzy because she is poised and confident. They both laugh and shake hands agreeing to be more relaxed around each other.
Max & Joe at the pub in the office.
Max: "Look Joe, about last night..."
Joe: "Yeah, well, nothing against your cooking or anything...I just thought you and Steph..."
Max: "Yeah, it wasn't my idea for her to stay, I offered to walk her home so..."
Joe: "As long as you didn't over do it. Well, I mean... you know, you never stop worrying about them even when they grow up. You'd be the same"
Max: "Yeah, I'm sure I will. I do look after her Joe. Sometimes I have to stop myself, you know how she hates it if you get bossy"
Joe: "Tell me about it. Listen Max... I know you and I haven't always seen eye-to-eye where Steph is concerned. I just want you to know that...well... if anyone's going to take my little girl away I'm glad it's you. You've stuck by her, especially on this one, it can't have been easy"
Max: "Mate, it was a snap because I love your little girl"
Joe: "Yeah" (Joe smiles at Max) You'd better"
The Coffee Shop:
At the coffee shop Declan apologises to Summer for saying she's kisses like a girl and he would like to know how she kisses. In front of everyone he tries to kiss her. She punches him in the stomach. Izzy is watching and doesn't look happy.
The "plant" introduces himself to Stu (he's there to get money off everyone), but Stu says he's not needed because he thinks it's unethical. Stu starts the session enthusiastically, but looks unsettled when he sees Susan walk in and take a seat.
The meeting concludes, but Susan wants to ask some questions. She wants him to clarify the car analogies for her, but when he simplifies things she wonders why people have to come to the meetings to realise this about themselves when they already know. Stu gets annoyed and says it's helped him and a lot of other people, and ends the meeting.
Karl offers Taj a glass of wine but when he declines, Karl drinks it himself. "All well, waste not, want not." When Susan gets home however, he pours it down the sink. She tells them all about the Life Mechanics meeting and how much drivel is said in them.
After dinner Izzy and Steph disagree again over Summer wanting to do boxing. Steph says she doesn't think there's anything wrong with Summer wanting to do lessons saying she read a boxing brochure. Steph tells Max and Izzy it's up to them. Izzy asks Max if he's going to talk to Declan's mum when she calls and explain that they're punishing Summer by giving her boxing lessons? Max tells Izzy that if Declan's mum calls, he'll apologise to her and tells her Summer will keep her hands to her self if Declan keeps his lips to himself. Max agrees that Summer could try lessons. Summer was listening around the corner and comes out thanking Max and gives Steph a hug said she was the best. Izzy looked upset.
Susan wonders if Taj is settling in okay, he seems a bit nervous. She then notices that Karl's used the breath freshener again. He looks a little worried. Susan answers the door to Stu. He's angry and annoyed that she showed up to the meeting just to "show off" and "attack" him. She tries to protest she wasn't but he won't listen. "I think you need to open your mind up a bit Susan. Open your mind up and get off your high horse. Learn to let other people live by their own choices."
