Recap
- Trixie informing Melody that Nina forged her signature - therefore her contract is in valid
- Karl receives the call about Taj moving in
- John asks Stu to fill in for him at life mechanics
Stu welcomes everyone to Life Mechanics, and begins the seminar. He admits that the reason he began to attend Life Mechanics was because of the fact he was losing control of 'his car.' He continues, confessing that he was between jobs and had a girlfriend who he tried to care about, but they ended up hurting each other in false hopes. One person stands up and leaves, but Stu continues to talk. The guy goes out the back to find Jonathan, who is spying on Stu's progress with the meeting. He tells Jonathan that Stu is brilliant and they smile at each other.
Trixie is lecturing Nina about her signing Melody's contract. Trixie shakes her head and claims that she would have known by the look of her, that Melody was no good. Nina looks frustrated and confesses that the only reason she hid the contract from her was because she would react the way she is now. Nina then tells her that Jack looked over the contract and he thought it was fine. Trixie looks furious and exclaims 'Who's Jack? He must have been more than a friend if you ended up taking his advice instead of mine!' Nina looks embarrassed and hurt while Trixie continues to lecture her. She then blurts out that her and her father are just the same, thinking with passion instead of rationally and with loyalty. She shakes her head and says that she doesn't need either of them. When Nina timidly asks what that means, Trixie dramatically announces that the 'Tucker Twins' are over.
The people at Life Mechanics applaud and Jonathan rushes in from out the back without Stu noticing. He explains that he got back as soon as he could, but judging by the sound of it he went pretty well. Stu smiles and admits he was nervous at first but once he got started he felt pretty comfortable. Jonathon agrees and tells him that he only needed to get over his first time jitters and he would be fine. Stu looks confused before asking if he meant that Jonathon wanted him to take another seminar. He smiles and says to Stuart that the people here loved him and he would like to take the backseat for a while.
Susan says to Karl that she is on the way to the Coffee Shop to meet Taj, and settle a time for him to move in. Karl sighs and reminds her she is overreacting, and that Taj is reason why Libby is interstate. Susan shakes her head and says that she is trying to make up for what has happened, and that if she is going to wipe the slate clean - so should he.
Taj and Susan are sitting at the Coffee Shop and are talking about arrangements when Stu walks in. Susan calls out hello to him, but when he looks and notices Taj - he turns away. Taj looks hurt and Susan asks him what is going on between him and Stuart.
Trixie is composing her act without Nina when Lou interrupts her and asks how she is. She quickly tells him that she is fine, but Lou declares that 'always the one that is hurt the most leaves.' Trixie then breaks down, and lets slip that her husband is moving back in- with his new girlfriend. Lou looks outraged when he hears this, but she wails that it is his house too, and cannot do anything about it, and sobs that all she wants to do is play with Nina- as it is the only thing that gives her any joy at the moment. Lou sighs and tells her that he will always be there for her, and he will see what he can do.
When Taj admits that Life Mechanics is the problem, Susan sympathetically rolls her eyes. Taj admits that he didn't think it would be a big problem, but the more time he spends with Jonathon the more he gets brainwashed- and that he should have left when he did. When Taj says that Stu has changed, and isn't acting like himself anymore, they both look over at Stu, who is talking to Jonathan.
Stu is at the Coffee Shop handing out pamphlets for Life Mechanics, when Harold spots him. He approaches Stu and asks him not to hand those out in his shop. When Stuart asks why Harold sighs, and says that his customers are trying to have a escape the world around them and have a peaceful meal, and do not need to be pressured into joining seminars. Stu looks angry and then points out that Harold is always trumpeting about the Salvos, so why should this be any different? Harold looks put out, but slowly explains that the Salvos are designed to help the unfortunate in their time of need- and Stu interrupts saying that Life Mechanics helps you take control of your life- so he cannot see any difference. Harold shakes his head sadly and apologizes to Stu, but declares that he will have to leave.
Stu is standing outside the Coffee Shop handing out his pamphlets, when Susan notices some boys that are due at a soccer game at school soon, she tells them to hurry back, and Stu scoffs, pointing out that once again she is interfering in the lives of other people. Susan looks taken aback, and asks Stu to repeat what he said, but Stu continues, reminding her about the time she talked Taj out of Life Mechanics. Susan sighs and declares that Taj was the one who made the rational decision himself. When Stu asks about 'Freedom of Speech' Susan points out that there is a line between that and pushing your preferences on somebody else. Stu becomes fired up and declares that people have the right to make up their own minds, but Susan firmly replies that it is unethical to give school children the right to join a cult. Susan then calms down and asks Stu how much has he donated to Life Mechanics. Stuart exhales and says to her 'how much would you pay to feel happy and to help others?' Stu storms away, leaving Susan to shake her head.
Nina arrives at the Pub to pick up her pay, when Lou tries to persuade her to join the Tucker Twins again. Nina sighs and says that her mum doesn't want to, and instead wants to focus on her career here at the pub. Lou disagrees and quietly tells Nina that her mother is putting on a brave face, and deep down all she really wants to do is to perform beside her daughter. Nina clicks and asks Lou whether he knows something she doesn't. He is hesitant, but Nina points out that she cannot help her mother when she doesn't know what is wrong. Lou sighs and warns Nina that she won't like what he is about to tell her.
Karl and Susan are discussing Stu's obsession with Life Mechanics when Taj arrives. Susan warmly welcomes him, but you can feel a bit of tension between Taj and Dr. Kennedy. Karl clears his throat and declares that Taj will be sleeping in Libby's bed... I mean in Libby's room... I mean the room beside Libby...'s room. Susan looks absolutely horrified, and orders Karl to take Taj's luggage into the room. Karl looks quite relieved to be getting out of there.
Harold and Lou are discussing Trixie. Lou says to Harold that she is a wonderful bright spark, and it is great to feel the spark- because he hasn't for quite a long time. Harold grins slyly, and Lou notices. He shakes his head and shames Harold, because everytime he compliments a woman he sees wedding bells. Harold looks slightly embarrassed, and Lou reminds him even if he did feel something, which he doesn't, she is going to a marriage break-up and doesn't need that type of pressure. Lou however looks wishful.
Nina interrupts Trixie while she is rehearsing. Trixie scoffs, and says that she thought that they weren't talking, but Nina informs her that she is talking now. She cuts to the chase and admits that she knows about her father wanting to move back home with his girlfriend, because Lou told her. Trixie opens her mouth, but Nina continues, begging her not to get angry with Lou because she forced it out of him. Nina then bags out her father, but Trixie sighs and asks her not to be nasty to him- after all that is her job. Trixie then reminds Nina that no matter how much she doesn't want to accept it her father will always care for her. She then shuffles through the song list, and when Nina inquires about the song choices she subtly hints that she wants go become the Tucker Twins again. Trixie catches on and squeals in delight, hugging her daughter exclaiming that they will show Nick, and everyone!
Stuart is at the Pub promoting Life Mechanics, when he comes across a guy who is already a part of it as well. He asks Stu if he is a plant, and when he asks what that is the guy unintentionally lets slip that a plant is someone who promotes Life Mechanics so when people attend they give huge donations, hoping other will follow suit. Stu looks shocked.
Nina is talking to Connor about how she thought her dad was really considerate, but somehow her and her mother got the wrong end of the stick. Connor admits that he feels sorry for her and her mother, and perhaps if her father was nice before there is a chance he can pull it off again. He then leans in close and asks Nina whether she really wants to do the Tucker Twins. Nina looks around guiltily before shaking her head, admitting that she doesn't really want to in the long run, but her mother has her heart set on it and it isn't the right time to confess she doesn't want to.
Trixie and Lou are discussing what a great idea the duet for the Tucker Twins. Trixie admits that it is great that she and Nina have the opportunity to perform together, and not that she has Nina on her side, she feels that she can accomplish anything. Lou then asks her whether she can face her husband living in their home with his new girlfriend, and Trixie looks doubtful and confesses that is something she will find an alternate option to. Lou looks like a bright light has turned on in his head, and declares he has a proposition.
Lou is taking Trixie and Nina through his house while Connor tags along. Trixie exclaims that it is perfect, but it is just too generous of Lou. Lou looks pleased but declares that good tenants are hard to find anywhere, so this is a win-win situation. Lou then offers to reduce the rent till her and Nina get on their feet, but Trixie won't hear of it, and thanks Lou for putting a roof over their heads.
Nina and Connor are looking through the house, and Connor asks why Nina is so quiet- after all, this new living arrangement. He then reminds her that they will be seeing more of each other, so that's more hanging out and that Ramsay Street is a great place to live. He then catches on and asks whether it is Jack and she nods. Connor sighs and says that this may sound stupid, but things always have a way of working out. Nina smiles at him.
Stu is at the pub confronting Jonathon about his idea of 'plants.' He sighs, and confesses that people are used to convince others to donate - but he isn't happy about doing it. Stu looks outraged and exclaims that it is wrong, but Jonathon reminds him that Life Mechanics won't run on air. He tells Stu that when they used to pass the donation box around people would pass it on and not donate. Stu then admits that when he attended his first Life Mechanics seminar he felt guilty not donating, and he's sure that others were too. He then asks Jonathon whether there were plants at his seminar, and he firmly shakes his head, telling him that plants are never used without the chairperson's consent - and that all the money raised at his seminar was honest. Stuart looks pleased.
Karl and Susan are playing scrabble, while discussing what they are going to say to Libby about Taj staying. Karl thinks it is the best idea that they don't tell Lib, but then Susan points out that Taj may answer the phone... then what? When he suggests banning Taj from answering the phone, Susan laughs and says that is horrible. When Susan lays down the word 'kiss' they become quite a bit passionate, and Taj opens to front door, to his horror, Karl and Susan lying on the table with the scrabble game knocked aside. Taj attempts several times to say something, because finally muttering the sentence 'I'm going to my room.' Susan calls him back for a minute and says they need to discuss it. Taj looks like he would like to do anything but that, however Susan asks him to keep whatever goes on in their house, in the house and not in schoolyard gossip. Taj nods quickly and tells her that he wasn't going to say anything, and can they never talk about it again. Karl and Susan look relieved and Taj hurries for his room. They both look at each other in embarrassment of getting caught and smile.
Lou is fixing the kitchen sink when Trixie arrives with some chocolates for Lou. He blushes, but assures her that it isn't necessary. She smiles and tells Lou that he is a good person and that she is looking forward to getting to know him better in the future. They smile at each other, and Trixie spoon-feeds Lou some chocolate. Lou looks pleased at the fact Trixie has taken a liking to him.
