Steph: "Oh what, by putting all this pressure on me?"
Max: "Steph, I'm going to be there for you, I thought you'd want that"
Steph: "Yeah, I do Max. Except you expect me to be all rational about this when this is actually not a situation I can be rational about."
Max: "Steph I'm not criticizing you, I just want you to be honest with me that's all!"
Steph: "Well overtime I try to be honest with you, you don't want to hear it"
Max: "Oh come on, that's not."
Steph: "Max listen... sometimes I just really want to be on my own ok. I try to be honest with you, I try to tell you and you just think I'm shutting you out."
Max: "I just can't stand the idea of you suffering through this on your own when you don't have to Steph alright. I love you"
Steph: "Yeah, you love me I know. Unfortunately it may not be enough."

Summer: “It'll be cool when Steph moves in”
Max: “She's going through some hard stuff right now”
Summer: “Yeah and I'll be glad to take care of her”
Max: “Just because we're back together doesn't mean things will go back to the way they were before”
Summer: “Why not? Don't you think you've spent too much time apart? Why waste anymore time?”
Max: “Yeah, you're right”
Summer: “And you know, that bald spot isn't getting any smaller”
Max: “Thanks for that.”
Summer: “I think if two people really love each other that's all that matters”
Max smiles at her.

Lyn: “What's it got to do with. Stephy, I have never seen you in anything quite that bulky”
Steph: “Yeah, well that's because I've never felt quite so much like an eyesore before”
Lyn: “ You're the most beautiful girl”
Steph: “Oh yes… beautiful. I've got the most beautiful scare you could ever see, and I'll be completely bald before you know it and I could start a new club with the whopping big bags under my eyes. People will run a mile when they see me”
Lyn: “I'll bet Max didn't run a mile, I'd say maybe he was pushed. What would you say?”
Steph: “He wants to be there for me”

Max: "Oh, Steph"
Steph: "No, I do. And I feel really weird about being touched. Partly because of the pain, and partly because of the way I look. The effect that the treatments are having on my body."
Max: "Steph, no matter what happens to you, you'll always be beautiful to me."
Steph: "I wonder how long you'll be able to say that with any conviction."
Max: "Hey... You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
Steph: "Yeah right."
Max: "It's not just your looks I fell in love with, it's everything about you. You've got such compassion. So much integrity. You're gentle, you're feisty"
Steph: "Yeah, maybe a little too feisty sometimes!"
Max: "Yeah! Definitely! It's the whole package I fell in love with. Not just the gorgeous eyes, or the perfect nose, or the beautiful smile, or"
Max: "What! You don't believe me? Then do me a favour. Put me to the test. You can set the rules for how we do this. I might want to cover you in kisses, and you might want to just shake hands, that's fine. We'll do it your way. What do you think? Say yes!"

My immune system's going to be virtually non existent, I'll be susceptible to every virus that comes along. My hairs falling out. I just don't want to put you through all that.”
Max: “I can do this Steph, I can do this”
Steph: “We both know Max that your first priority is Summer and Boyd OK? We're not going to put them through any unnecessary trauma now are we? Come on Max, you know I'm right. It's just the way it has to be”

Steph: “That's the general idea I guess”
Max looks worried
Summer: “Well it really suits you”
Summer rides off
Max: “So much for protecting Summer from the harsh realities. She knows it all anyway”
Steph: “It's actually quite refreshing you know. It's all the tip-toeing around that's hard to take”
