Recap
Boyd asking Steph to the footy.
Susan asking what happened between her and Cameron.
Max is on the phone to his sister Izzy while Steph is waiting for him at the bar, grinning from ear to ear. When Max gets off, he gives her a kiss and says that she has made his day. Steph continues to grin, saying that Boyd has made her day because he asked her to go to the footy with him. Steph tells him that Boyd might be beginning to accept her, and Max gives her a hug.
Karl and Susan are ordering in the coffee shop, when the conversation comes up about Cameron, which results in Karl scoffing. Susan begins to look uncomfortable, and Karl demands to know what happened. Susan sighs and tells him that Libby and Cameron are not seeing each other anymore. Karl looks up and asks why Libby called it off. Susan hesitates before telling Karl about Cameron's views on children. Karl looks outraged but when Susan tells him that Cameron has a kid of his own and has nothing to do with it, Karl is absolutely appalled.
Valda comes into Lou's office all excited, because she has won $200 on a scratchie. Lou reminds her to save it and not go spending it this time, but Valda insists that she will save half- as she has seen a gorgeous dressing gown that Lyn would love. Lou suggests to give her some time, however Valda reminds him that Lyn approached her before and all she needs is to try and break the barrier.
Karl asks Susan why would a doctor lead on a widower when he knows how he feels about children. Susan admits he was probably looking for a casual relationship, but then points out that Libby may have been using Cameron. Karl begins to speak, but Susan continues about Lib using Cameron to get over the intimacy barrier. Karl begins to protest about Cameron's behavior, but Susan tells him to keep out of it. Karl reminds her about she giving Taj a lecture- but she insists that was different as he was a student, therefore her responsibility. She then reminds Karl that Cameron and him are adults and should be able to continue working professionally, so stay out of it. She ends her little speech with a glare.
Later on in the surgery, Cameron informs Karl that a patient has low blood pressure and should see a specialist. Karl briskly says that a list will arrive on his desk shortly. Cameron requests using a specific specialist, but Karl disagrees. Cameron walks off and Karl glares after him.
Lou walks into his office and finds Valda sitting at the table. He comments about how she bought the dressing gown, but Valda interrupts saying that she has no idea what to write on the card. She wonders out loud about her always rushing into things and begins to have second thoughts. Lou reminds her that buying someone a present isn't buying love, it's showing thoughtfulness and pleasure to the people we love. Valda smiles.
Summer is on the phone asking for money for the fast for freedom, and when she admits that she didn't complete the fast, people aren't willing to pay. Max reminds her that when they sponsored her it was like a contract and she didn't go through with it. His eyes wander to a little horse momento and ask what it is for. Summer says that is for Lisa; and when Max asks her if she is still giving her lessons away, Summer insists she is. Max reminds her that she won the prize fair and square and she doesn't have to give it away. Max offers to take her now to give Lisa the prize when Summer burst out 'no!' She looks at the floor and admits she feels selfish, but she wants the lessons. Max hugs Summer, and tells her that she is only human.
Boyd is talking to Stu about girls, but he doesn't seem to be paying much attention. When he asks Stu what is wrong, Stu sighs. Boyd apologizes for not taking him to the football, but Steph has been trying really hard and she deserves it. Stu tells him that he's right about her deserving it, but that's not his problem. The garage seems to have too much work this week and they might have to hire an apprentice. Boyd offers to cancel his work experience and do work in the garage for the week instead. Stu is stoked and thanks him.
Harold is serving Karl and comments about how nice Cameron is. Karl forces a smile and says that he is good professionally. Harold interrupts with 'but personally....' Karl scowls, but then Lou comes in and asks Harold if he can have a word. Harold and Lou begin talking about ways to give Valda a good day out, when Cameron comes in and sits with Karl. He tells him that he has an extra 20 minutes off because a patient has just cancelled, and offers to keep Karl company. Karl says that he has things to do and stands up. Cameron offers to pay for his meal at least, but Karl snaps that it is on the tab and Cameron looks taken aback.
Max tells Boyd that helping Stu after school is a nice thing to do, but when Boyd tells him about working in the garage instead of graphics design place, Max changes his tune. He reminds Boyd it set up months to do his work experience and that it will give him a leg up in the future. Boyd tells Max that he has promised to help Stu out. Max puts his foot down and says that he is sticking with his work experience.
Karl and Cameron are snipping at each other about borrowing the equipment and not returning it. Cameron complains about the state of the equipment, but suddenly asks why is Karl giving him so much attitude? He then clicks and asks Karl if it is Libby. Cameron looks confused and tells him that he thought Karl would be glad that they weren't seeing each other anymore; and Karl demands to know why he lead her on. Cameron sighs and says that they both had feelings for each other, and they began to explore that. Karl looks furious and bursts out 'my daughter is not for exploring!' Cameron looks bewildered and asks why is he putting his personal feelings towards him ahead of his performance. Karl insists that his whole practice is personal and tells Cameron it is about time he found a new practice. Cameron looks shock and argues that he cannot do that. Karl is in the doorway, and looks back at him and replies 'I just did.'
Summer tells Steph about Max and Boyd's disagreement about the garage, and hopes that he doesn't go crazy. Steph laughs and says that Boyd will be fine. Steph then has a talk with Max about letting Boyd work in the garage for a week, and Max insists that it took a lot of time to set the experience up. The boss, Pete, has put a lot on hold do Boyd can work there. Steph reminds him that working for Stu is important to Boyd, as he probably thinks it's a way to start paying him back and earning his trust. Max groans and asks where he got his saintly kids from; Summer for thinking of giving away her lessons, and Boyd for giving up his chance to work in the design graphics, which he loves. Steph says that it probably comes from their caring father and they kiss. Summer smiles from the doorway.
Lou has Valda blind folded, and when he takes it off, she lays eyes on the limo. Harold and Lou are standing in front of her, telling her that they are going on a surprise trip. Valda looks shocked... then pleased.
Max says goodbye to the kids as they go to school, but stops Boyd and tells him that he can work in the garage. He continues, saying that he rang Pete last night and said that you had to help a friend out, so he can do his work experience during the holidays. Boyd grins and thank him.
Susan is dropping off at the surgery to take Karl out to lunch and notices a few of the patients waiting impatiently. She asks Karl if he can come to lunch, and let Cameron handle the patients- and when he tells Susan that Cameron isn't here she pulls him into the office and demanding to know what Karl did. He admits that he fired him, and when Susan tries to interrupt he continues. Karl insists that Cameron was picking a fight, and this time Susan succeeds in interrupting him saying that he was the one picking the fight, and that he couldn't act like a civil adult. She begins to give him a lecture on his temper, but Karl tells her that he has patients to see. Susan says 'fine' and storms out of the surgery.
Lou, Valda and Harold come into the bar in the afternoon and begin to tell Max how good their day was. Valda tells him about Lou booking mystery flights after they got the airport in the limo, and they ended up having lunch in Hobart. She continues about the day and a nice walk along the waterfront before they went back to the airport. Max goes back to serving drinks, and Valda thanks them for the adventurous day.
Karl gets off the phone when Cameron comes back to pick up his things. Karl admits that he is sorry that it had to end this way, and Cameron shrugs and says that it hasn't ended at all. Karl flares up and tells him that he is not coming back, but Cameron interrupts him. He says that he spoke to an MDO and she feels that Karl has breached the contract and he has a strong case against him. Karl's mouth hangs open, and Cameron smiles saying 'I'll be seeing you... well actually, I'll be suing you'
