Recap
- Summer telling Max she wants to be a priest
- Jack telling Lou that it was Darcy and not Ruby who robbed the Kennedys
- Heather breaking up with Boyd
Steph and Joe are watching the game and Summer asks Joe if he believes in god. He says that he does... but not to an extent to go to church, he believes in other things. Summer then asks if he does any community service, and a flustered Joe just says that he just has the time to keep his head above ground. Steph punches him playfully on the arm telling Summer about the time he built a skate ramp for bored kids and helped a woman give birth in his taxi. Steph smiles at Joe and says he's a saint.
Harold comes in collecting for the Salvo's. Lou notices that his collection tin is rather full this week. Harold smiles and says that lots of people were being generous this week. Lou offers Harold some opera tickets for him and Ruby to attend. Harold says that he cannot accept them, and a simple apology will do. Max then calls from the kitchen to Lou informing him that Valda is on the phone.
When the game finishes, Joe asks for some pie. Summer continues about starving people in Fiji and other countries, and Joe heads for the kitchen muttering about it being the first time he has crossed a picket line for a piece of pie. Boyd then comes home and Summer asks what is wrong. She then persists saying that he and Heather had a fight and that he should apologize; Boyd then snaps at her to shut up and heads to his room.
Lou is talking to Valda on the phone, unaware that Max is standing in the doorway. Lou asks her to come home but is obviously unsuccessful. He continues to talk to her and they finally end the conversation. Max asks how she is and Lou smiles and says that she is fine.
Max comes home to find Steph on the couch. He asks where everyone is, and she informs him that Joe went home and the kids are in bed. Max looks surprised to find out Boyd is home already. Steph says that he and Heather had a fight, according to Summer, so he may be feeling a little down. Max tells Steph that Valda rang Lou earlier, and Steph becomes excited. He says that he doesn't know why she left, but he has a feeling that Lou does. Steph says that she will talk to Lou- but subtly. Max laughs and hopes that she can do subtle, as well as not mentioning him.
Susan is taking the garbage out and sees Lyn with Harvey. They stare at each other uncomfortably, and Lyn walks off with Harvey. Susan attempts to call out to her, but stops herself.
Lou comes round to the coffee shop with the tickets and ask Harold and Ruby to take them. He then apologizes to Ruby, telling her that the only reason he was so nasty was because he was trying to protect Harold, as he cares for him as a brother. Lou then hands her the tickets and asks for her forgiveness. Ruby smiles and says that she cares for Harold too and is willing to forgive. They smile at each other.
Steph sits herself down next to Boyd and asks how he is feeling? She then asks if Summer was right about Heather and him having a fight. Boyd shakes his head and says that she doesn't have a clue. When Steph tries to comfort him saying that these things will work out, Boyd shouts 'how would you know? You don't know anything! He then storms out leaving Steph hitting her head with her hand.
Summer and Steph are collecting for charity and knock on the Kennedys front door. A surprised Susan answers the door, and Summer asks if she can spare something for charity. Susan lets them in, and Summer searches around the house leaving her and Steph to talk. Susan admits that she hasn't had many visitors lately, and Steph smiles, telling her that people have been giving them some space so things can settle down. She then asks Steph if Lyn would like a visit from her later and Steph says that she would probably like that.
Lyn is worried about Susan not forgiving her, and tells Joe how awful it is to have her mad at her. Joe offers them to go talk to the Kennedys later on in the day, but after this morning Lyn doesn't think she can do it. In an effort to cheer Lyn up he asks her to go shopping with him, and look at clothes for the baby. Lyn still looks worried, and Joe squeezes Lyn's hand promising she won't regret it. Lou then sits at the table telling them that he heard from Valda last night. Lyn looks happier, and says that's the best news she's heard in a long time... where is she? Lou looks down at the table and tells Lyn that he doesn't know anything except she is travelling around the countryside and she is chasing him up for some old pay. Joe looks suspicious.
Harold hands Ruby the tickets and offers her a night out. Ruby smiles and says that maybe he should take Lou instead. Harold begins to protest about him not being interested when he realizes she is kidding. He laughs and calls her a tease, and she walks back to the counter calling out 'only when I'm in a happy mood.' Harold then notices Boyd sitting at the table shredding a napkin. He reminds him that napkins do not grow on trees, and that they are to clean up- not make a mess. Boyd gets angry and snaps at Harold that he will leave- and does.
Joe and Lyn are looking at baby dresses, eyeing one in particular. Lyn looks at the price tag and says that they cannot afford it, and tells Joe as cute as it is, to stop dreaming. Little do they know that Susan is standing nearby, looking at handbags. As the Scullys walk off Susan approaches the dress they were looking at and began to smile. She then looks at the price tag and whistles.
Steph asks Lou what is wrong with Valda. Lou says that he has absolutely no idea what she is on about. She reminds Lou that she can be trusted, and she will not tell Lyn; she just wants to know if she is ok. Lou looks around and then tells her to step into his office.
Boyd is looking at sunglasses. He finds a pair he likes and tries them on. He then looks at the price tag and sighs. He then checks if no one is looking and puts them in his pocket. Boyd then looks around guiltily.
When Boyd is walking out he sees a sign that says that the shop is under constant video surveillance. He looks around and then puts the glasses back where they belong. He stops again and looks back at the glasses, and then leaves.
Lou says to Steph that he only knows the postcode Valda is in, and that she was chasing him up for some old pay; which he is giving her later in the week. Steph just sighs and wonders why she would have left; after all they do not treat her bad. She then goes on to say that Valda is selfish for leaving, and has hurt Lyn terribly. Lou tells Steph that she probably has her reasons, and Steph asks what that may be. Lou looks confused, and she informs Lou that she is going with him to find Valda. Lou is against Steph's idea thinking it may upset her.
Steph comes back to Max's house saying that Lou didn't say much; just that he is going to see Valda; but doesn't want her to come as it might upset her. Summer interrupts saying that there should be more love in the world. Max smiles at Steph and says that he is going to ring Rosie, and tell her that he has created a monster. Boyd then comes home, and Steph excuses herself, but not before saying that she is glad he is back. Max says that he is sorry about Heather, and he knew how much he liked her. Boyd just shrugs, saying that life will go on and he will find something else. Max asks what that could be and Boyd looks pensive.
Susan is at the Scullys and is taking to Lyn and Joe. She is telling them how sorry she is for the way she behaved, and if there was anyway she could undo what she did- she would. She hands Lyn a parcel, and says this doesn't excuse what she did, but hopefully it make up for it. Lyn opens it to find the baby dress she was marvelling over. Lyn looks at it and says that she was really hurt at Susan's reaction, and that accepting the gift would make her a hypocrite. She hands the parcel back to Susan, who has tears in her eyes.
