Recap
Susan tells Steph that she could see how Steph feels about him. Flick receives a mysterious gift of an expensive looking gold bracelet.
Number 26
Lyn is fawning over baby clothes, that she is intending to give to Libby. Flick is also going through old clothes which she is going to give away to charity, as she is putting them in a box, she also drops the bracelet in, and disappears. Steph comes in looking pretty depressed, Lyn's attempts to cheer her up don't seem to be working.
Number 30
Toadie and Dee are talking about 'Gourmet dining' a gift offer from Max to Dee by way of an apology for injuring her. Dee feels guilty as she was elaborating her injury, but With the prospect of the only thing in the house that could be considered edible being a jar of Joel's Polish pickled gherkins (oooh er) they decide that it is just what they need, even though Dee feels a bit guilty at the frivolity and petty of the situation, considering what Libby is going through. But with the prospect of the gherkins looming on their minds, a free meal wins out.
Number 32
Max has cooked Boyd and Summer French toast for breakfast. I love a man who can cook. Boyd again doesn't look too excited at the prospect of cricket practice. He just can't share Max's enthusiasm. Flick arrives to drop off her box for Rosie's jumble sale and Max graciously accepts, oblivious to the true value of it's contents.
Number 26
Lyn and Flick are discussing their concerns for Steph over her state since Drew's death. They then move onto the topic of the bracelet. Both are assuming that it is from Marc. Flick's instincts tell her that it will be a bad idea to tell Steph about the bracelet. Lyn doesn't want Steph finding out by accident, but Flick assures her that won't happen and informs her mother of it's current whereabouts. Lyn is shocked to discover that someone will be 'hitting the jackpot' at the jumble sale. She says that one thing that she can't stand about his arrogance, and Flick observes that he has 'the sensitivity of a rattlesnake' (has she only just realised this?) Firstly checking that Steph is not home, Flick calls Chloe and asks for Marc's London number.
Cricket Practice
Boyd tries to dissuade Max from watching the cricket practice, he is worried that Max will embarrass him, but Max assures him that he and Summer will sit quietly on the sidelines.
Number 30
Dee returns home from the Gym at lunchtime to find Toadie is a suit, and a 'stunningly set table' in the lounge. Dee still has reservations at abusing Max's hospitality and informs Toadie that she has bought some bagels and cream cheese to go with Joel's gherkins. Perhaps the highlight of the episode for the more discerning episode is thinking about Joel's gherkins, but hey we're only 6 minutes in... Dee just doesn't feel right eating at the cost of a wronged neighbour, but Toadie tells her that as her attempts of giving back the gift to Max have failed, the worst thing she could now would be to waste his money by not eating the meal.... and so sends her off to 'get frocked'
At the Cricket match, Max and Summer are sitting on the sidelines a thoughtful Summer is concerning Max.
MAX: Not getting bored are you Summer?
SUMMER: No I'm just thinking
MAX: About what?
SUMMER: Drew.... I miss him.
MAX: I know you liked Drew, Summer and it's awful he's gone. But when you are thinking about him, try to remember the good things that is what Drew would want.
SUMMER: Like we were supposed to do when Mum died?
MAX: Yeah like we were all supposed to do when mum died.
And in one of the most touching scenes in the history of the show Max gently kisses his daughter on the forehead.
Summer is bored of the cricket and decides to go for a walk. As a match is about to start, Max stands up and shouts 'Go For It Boyd' embarrassing Boyd in the process, as it seems his colleagues are not too impressed at the prospect of having to play in his team.
A Wide Open Space
Summer bumps into Steph...
SUMMER: What are you doing here?
STEPH: What are you doing here?
SUMMER: Getting away from boring cricket
STEPH: Yeah I guess I'm getting away from something too.
SUMMER: We can just hang here if you want?
STEPH: Sure.
SUMMER: Does sitting here thinking about it make you feel better?
STEPH: I dunno
SUMMER: Me either... hey is this your new bike?
STEPH: How do you know about that? SUMMER: I know about lots of things, do you know who gave it to you yet?
STEPH: No I don't, but I'm beginning to think that it doesn't matter. It's not from one of my ex-boyfriends and that was my main worry.
SUMMER: Cos they were thieves?
STEPH:: (with a laugh) yeah something like that
SUMMER: Maybe you got it from your fairy godmother?
STEPH: Come on Summer you don't really believe that do you?
SUMMER: Well I think that sometimes it's good to pretend, don't you think?
STEPH: Yeah I guess so.
SUMMER: Wanna go for a ride?
STEPH: On the bike?
SUMMER: Yeah you know, wind on our faces it might make us feel better.
STEPH: It might, but I don't know what your dad would say about that.
SUMMER: He won't mind, especially if it's only for a few minutes.
STEPH: You sure?
SUMMER: Yeah I've been a bike before.
STEPH: Yeah? Whose?
SUMMER: My dad's he used to have a Harley, I even know how to lean into the corners.
STEPH: Really? OK then Mcdooan hop on. Quick before I change my mind.
Number 26
Flick phones Marc in London, just as she is giving her a piece of her mind telling her that he won't worm his way back into her life with presents, he cuts her off telling her that he didn't sent the bracelet. At this news Lyn starts to wonder where Steph's bike came from, and both she and Flick admit that it's getting a little bit weird.
At the Cricket Match Boyd seems to be enjoying the cricket a bit more and makes a good catch, but he notices that Max was not there to see it. Max meanwhile is searching for Summer who is nowhere to be seen. He is angry to find Summer on the back of Steph's bike. it transpires that Summer's little story about her dad having a Harley was a fib. Summer protests telling Max to 'lighten up' but he is having none of it and is clearly fizzing at both Summer and Steph. Steph tries desperately to apologise to Max, but he is reluctant to accept and storms off.
Number 30
Dee is still having doubts about having the meal, but Toadie is quick to appease her as their starters and some yummy looking 'Sauvignon Blanc' arrive served by a waiter. And as one hungry summariser looks on in envy at their gourmet cuisine, Toadie decides that now is the time for him to say a few words in honour of Drew.
TOADIE: Libby once told me that when they first met, she was knocked out by Drew's perfect Teeth. They both laugh in their grief.
DEE: His teeth? Now personally I would have said his smile, that was pretty sexy.
TOADIE: But he was more than a set of teeth and a smile wasn't he.(JA: You're telling me!!!) He had these qualities, these amazing qualities that I really wish I had. He was constant, he had this certainty of life and of the goodness of people, and of family and friends. He was a true Gentleman. But if it wasn't for his perfect teeth, he and Libby would never have got together, and then he wouldn't have been part of our lives.... so to Drew's teeth. *sob* *sob*
Number 32
As the family arrive home from the cricket Max is still scolding Summer for her previous behaviour. She continues to be cheeky, and will not accept that she is in the wrong. Max sends her to her room, at which she retorts 'anything to get away from you' Boyd then takes the opportunity to chastise Max for not seeing his good catch, instead of praising him Max tells him that he has to practise if he wants to be the best. But Boyd as it turns out doesn't want to be the best, he doesn't even want to play cricket.
Number 30
As the meal reaches it's end Toadie says that it was better than a pickled gherkin, (matter of opinion) Toadie gives Dee a kiss- for her being able to admit when he is right. Dee gives Toadie a kiss- for being a man who is not afraid to wear an apron.
Number 32
Summer and Boyd are discussing their father, Summer thinks that he should stop bossing them about- after all 'who does he think he is?'They both agree that it is not fair that he is forcing them to do things that they don't want to do and it was better when he only turned up for a few weeks and went back to the rigs. Summer whilst noseying in Flicks box finds the bracelet and quickly pockets it, no doubt with the intention of using it in a future moment of mischief.
Dee arrives to thank Max for the meal, and admits that she was exaggerating her injury. She apologises to Max, apprehensive of what he may say, but Max laughs saying that he knew she was lying and was also stringing her along. Dee does admit that she is still guilty about the meal, and thanks Max as it was very expensive, offering to pay for half.. Max declines, declaring when she is gone that 'it was the best raffle prize he ever won' LOL
Number 26
Steph asks Lyn if they can talk a bit, even though she feels that it might not do any good.
STEPH: (clearly upset and in a terrible state) Why can't I just accept the way things are?- Drew meant everything to me, but he wasn't interested in me, he had Libby. But instead of me just moving on, I chased this image of him in other men. It's no wonder none of my relationships ever worked out. And now he's gone, and I can't even grieve over him properly, as I can't say the things about him that I want to say. And I feel so bad that I'm breaking the trust of the people I care for..
By the end of this speech Steph seems to be inconsolable.
