Joe gives Connor and Michelle another chance to prove themselves.
Susan runs away from Karl.
Continuing to run from Karl, Susan runs to the swings in the park, yelling at Karl to stay away. Libby finds her dad following Susan and he explains he doesn't know what's going on, but they need to get Susan to the hospital.
Drew comes in to order a sandwich, which gives Penny an opportunity to moan about her failed relationship with Darcy. Harold enquires after Ben, and Drew explains that he was sleeping, though he's now teething, so the sleepless nights have started again. Penny continues to witter on about her lack of love life, crying into Drew's sandwich. Harold offers to make him another one.
Libby approaches Susan on the swing. Susan thinks she is Carmel, but Libby doesn't say anything, instead drawing attention to Susan's feet, which are cut and sore. Karl watches on as Libby takes Susan to the hospital.
Lyn is wondering how Michelle and Connor's date is going, though Joe is trying to avoid the issue, instead reading about a guy in the paper who cloned his dog. He wonders if he could do the same with Harvey. Lyn points out he's been on the same page for the last half hour, and Joe admits he's worried about Shell. Lyn reminisces back to their first date, though it's clear Joe can't remember it.
Steph is the next to be Penny's victim, as she continues on about being dumped. Harold one again comes to the rescue, sending Penny to the kitchen. Steph suggests Harold visits Susan at the hospital on his rounds.
Joe pops by to find Drew repairing an old car, just like the one he took Lyn home in on their first date. As he tells Drew the story, an idea pops into his head.
Standing outside of Susan's room, Libby admits to her father that Susan had no idea of where she was as they came to the hospital. Karl informs Libby that they have to wait for the neurologist to arrive, but the fact that Susan thinks Libby is Carmel, is not so good.
Susan calls from her room, and Libby goes in. Susan realises that Libby isn't Carmel.
SUSAN: But you look so much like her.
LIBBY: That's because I'm related to her.
SUSAN: Are we related, you and me, have we met?
Libby nods, holding back the tears. Susan admits she is confused and doesn't know what's going on.
Lyn surprises Steph who agrees to have another coffee with her mum. Lyn reveals that Michelle is on a date with Connor, though Steph is shocked to hear Joe has agreed to it, and isn't following on watching, like her own first date. Lyn admits that her father has mellowed a bit in his old age, and goes on to reminisce about her own first date with Joe. She's disappointed to admit that Joe can't remember much about it now.
Carpenter's Mechanics/Erinsborough Hospital
Libby rings Drew to ask if he can come by the hospital to look after Ben. He explains he'll be there as soon as he can.
Harold arrives and asks after Susan, though Karl admits they don't know. He's worried that it's his own fault, though Harold tells him not to blame himself.
KARL: She has absolutely no idea who I am, in fact, she's petrified of me.
As Steph gets up to leave, Penny apologises about the comments she made earlier on. She asks if they can meet later to chat about Darcy. Steph isn't so sure, but reluctantly agrees.
As Lyn walks home, a car pulls up alongside her. She begins to run, until Joe yells out at her to stop. Wondering what he is doing, he explains about their first date, which for him, was the night he drove her home from an event.
Dr Cheng informs Karl that she hasn't found anything abnormal in Susan's scans, and so at the moment suspects it to be retrograde amnesia. In the hospital room, Susan wonders if she had too much champagne at her birthday party the night before to cause the accident. She asks Libby if she could call her parents for her, as they haven't arrived yet. Libby can't bring herself to tell Susan the truth.
Joe and Lyn are enjoying a drive in the old car, with music blaring out. Pulling over to the side of the road, they start to kiss.
Libby is worried about her mum, but Drew and Harold comfort her, telling her she has to stay strong for Susan, and that hopefully it'll only be a temporary issue. Dr Cheng offers to introduce Karl as another doctor so he can keep up to date with Susan's condition. Dr Cheng warns that Susan is in a very vulnerable state, and as such is very confused. They go to get a white coat for him.
A police car pulls up surprising Joe and Lyn. The sergeant informs them that they should know better.
Penny compares her relationship to Romeo and Juliet, though Steph reminds her that as her doctor, Darcy has an oath to keep. Steph can't keep playing nice any longer and tells Penny to get over it; besides Darcy is a dog and she could do better.
STEPH: Now, can we talk about something other than your break up?
PENNY: Sure. (pause) How do you feel after your break up?
Steph gives a look of disbelief.
Joe and Lyn arrive home. Lyn is surprised at how Joe couldn't remember their first date that morning, but by the afternoon he'd organised the car.
JOE: What can I say? I'm a romantic at heart.
LYN: Yeah, yeah you are.
JOE: I love you.
Libby is worried about Susan, but doesn't want to let go of Ben, so Harold offers to go in and talk to her. Harold introduces himself to Susan, and she tells him she's waiting for her parents to arrive.
Lyn and Joe arrive to find Steph. She encourages her parents to join them, and Lyn tells them of Joe's romantic gesture.
Dr Cheng and Karl arrive to see Susan, so Harold leaves them to it. Dr Cheng asks Susan some questions, though Susan is annoyed to hear they are the same questions as before. Karl listens on.
DR CHENG: Could you tell me your full name?
SUSAN: Susan Smith.
DR CHENG: What year is it Susan?
DR CHENG: And how old are you?
SUSAN: 16, I turned 16 yesterday. Will my parents be here soon?
