Kennedys
Karl reminds Ellie that she doesn't have to rush the decision and will always be welcome to stay with them in Erinsborough if she wants. Ellie can't work out why her mother has suddenly offered.

LIZ: I'm offering to take you in.
ELLIE: I'm your daughter. You don't offer to take me in. You make me sound like a stray dog.

She decides to stay put, much to Liz's disappointment.

Hancocks
Evan is annoyed to find that someone hasn't left any water in the iron. Maggie explains that she empties it as it will rust, but Evan is more concerned that he leaves it full for the next person. She asks if he would mind ironing in the laundry as he leaves in a huff. Leo comments that it was a lot of fuss over ironing.

Scullys
Michelle informs Connor that according to the radio, their entry into the competition has been disqualified as it was illegal. He decides that they should create a new entry together, something bigger and better, but Michelle is disappointed when he mentions they should include Ellie too. Joe pops in and wonders if they are arguing.

CONNOR: No, we're just discussing Michelle's competitive behaviour.

Michelle isn't impressed and tells him it's not about Ellie, it's about the competition, before storming off.

Kennedys
Liz asks Karl to see if Ellie will come out of her room, but Karl recons she should do it herself; she is her mother after all. Liz tells him that she just has a different way of being a parent to him and Susan, but Karl tells her it's not about the mobile or credit cards. Liz claims she loves Ellie, but when he asks if she has anything for her birthday tomorrow, she decides to leave. Hearing the door close, Ellie re-appears.

Hancocks
Maggie finds Leo washing the floor.

LEO: I've cleaned my room and tidied the video cabinet, and I'll put the rubbish out after.

She forces him to stop and asks him what the catch is. He tells her that he just wants to be helpful as he wants to come and live with her. He talks about how Matt didn't get to live with his mum and he doesn't want to live apart from Emily. She tells him that she and Evan won't be splitting up and that they still love each other very much. Evan and Em come through, heading out for ice-cream, they invite Leo along, but Maggie will stay behind. Leo looks confused but goes anyway, leaving Maggie with a tear in her eye.

Coffee Shop
Michelle can't wait so gives Ellie her birthday present that evening. Ellie thanks her but doesn't look all that thrilled. She tells Michelle how she stood up to her mum, but doesn't feel all that great about it as it didn't go as well as she had planned. She spots a top that Michelle has bought, but Michelle claims it isn't for Connor.

Emily wolfs down her bowl of ice-cream and asks Evan for some money for another one. He tells her one is enough, but she tells him it's for her mum. Evan makes an excuse that it'd melt in the car, even though it wouldn't. Leo asks if it's another one of a list of things going on at the moment.

EVAN: What do you mean?
EMILY: We don't want a divorce.

Evan looks shocked.

Scullys
Michelle wanders through in her new top, but Connor can't understand why she is dressed up as she isn't going out. He's fiddling with some parts for Steph's bike, but Michelle isn't convinced he got hold of them legally, and comments that he should move them from the table before Lyn finds out.

Hancocks
Evan straightens up Matt's tie and tells him not to be too smart. Maggie reminds Evan, he's only meeting his QC not the court so he'll be himself. He asks if she would like to go to the meeting alone with Matt and he'll stay behind and pack. Maggie tells them they are all going, but Evan claims he was only asking. Maggie asks Matt to head to the car to wait.

Maggie tells Evan that they must talk, but he tells her they haven't got time. Maggie tells him not to talk rubbish as they have plenty of time and asks him to stop using the children to get at her. She asks him to confront her personally, and points out that she is still here and they agreed to forgive and forget. Evan heads out to the car.

Kennedys
Liz comes over with a small attempt at a present for Ellie. Ellie is cross with her and Liz admits she only remembered it was her birthday when Karl mentioned it. Liz points out that she's being very cold, but Ellie informs her she's just accepting things for the way they are; a selfish mother who is never around. Liz admits that it may be true, but it doesn't mean she doesn't love her. She just didn't want to burden her with a mother like herself, and wants her to grow into a young educated independent woman who isn't reliant on men, which she is. She tells her that she loves her and they hug.

Scullys
Michelle watches from the window as Connor fixes Steph's bike. Joe pops over and comments how he's a good lad, doing other jobs to make up for lack of paying rent. He mentions how he hopes Connor won't be moving out as it's nice to have the testosterone about, to which Michelle is surprised to hear. Joe heads through to the kitchen as she returns to gaze out of the window.

QC Office
The QC informs them that he's managed to drop Matt's charges down from "conduct in endangering lives" to "conduct in endangering a person". Maggie explains how it means Evan didn't go out with the intention of killing someone, but just hurting them. The QC recommends that Matt pleads guilty and that his clean record will give him something to hope for.

MAGGIE (turning towards Evan): As long as the judge isn't one of these people who judges someone for one small mistake.

Scullys
Joe shows Michelle the receipts he found for the parts of the bike that Connor must've bought. Jack rings up and it turns out he isn't able to make the wedding, so Michelle tells him he's an idiot. Joe jokes that they're phasing him out as a son and putting Connor in his place. Connor takes the phone and Joe teases her that she and Connor are bickering like siblings. Michelle explains that Connor is nothing like a brother.

Kennedys
Karl arrives to find Ellie looking at the photo of her and her mum, that her mum gave her. She realises that although it was a late attempt at a present, it must've meant that he mum carried it with her and that she does love her. She explains to Karl that she's finally realised that her mother does love her and she's thinking of going to Sweden to give their relationship a chance. She tells him she doesn't want to leave Karl and Susan though, and Karl comments that they will always be here, though she has become like a daughter to him. They hug, and he gives her her present. She thanks him and hugs him again.

QC Office
The QC explains that they will paint the other guy in a bad light and if Matt was to take up some community work it would help his case. He explains that Matt is looking to at least loose his licence, but it could go to a gaol sentence (which they'd appeal to a suspended sentence), community service hours or a fine. Matt worries about a fine, but Evan tells him not to worry, and Maggie mentions that Mal has given them a good offer for the house.

Kennedys
Michelle comments that it'd be odd without Ellie about anymore, but Connor jokes that she should be happy as she'll have him all to himself. Michelle recons he wouldn't have any reason to stay around anymore, and mentions that Joe told her he'd planned on moving. He tells her he's doing so as he can't try anything on with her under Joe's roof. Liz comes through with the rest of their bags as Ellie and Karl return. Liz tells her to get a move on, but Karl explains she has friends to say goodbye to. Michelle and Connor say their goodbyes and give Liz a hand with the bags. Karl is left to say goodbye to Ellie.

ELLIE: I love you.
KARL: I love you, too.

Hancocks
Maggie mentions that it was good that the QC gave them all the options and that Matt should be able to miss a gaol sentence. Emily is worried by the word gaol and doesn't want the family to split up.

EVAN: It's OK, mummy shouldn't scare you like that.

Maggie asks Matt to take the kids through to the kitchen. He pauses for a moment.

MATT: You know, we don't need this right now.
MAGGIE: He's right, you stop undermining me in front of the children.
EVAN: I can't say anything without you getting paranoid.
MAGGIE: You are having little digs at me all over the place, you know it.
EVAN: ...
MAGGIE: See, you're shutting me out again.
EVAN: I'm not, it's just that we've had this discussion
MAGGIE: Not that it's done us any good. You're not even trying to move on.
EVAN: I am
MAGGIE: Well if this is moving on. I'd hate to see what gridlock was. The children have picked up on it. Leo thinks we are getting a divorce.
EVAN: Emily too.
MAGGIE: Well, are they one step ahead of us Evan? Is that where we're heading?
EVAN: That's not what I want.
MAGGIE: Fine, so let's resolve this.
EVAN (getting up to leave): It is resolved.
MAGGIE: STOP IT! You are angry with me. So let me have it. Because if you don't, it will be over.
