Recap
- Harold being offered the franchise of Cuppa Diem by Mal.
- Emily reading a letter to the Hancock's hat reveals Toadie likes Maggie a lot.
Hancock's.
Evan shows Maggie the letter and demands an explanation. Maggie tells him that it is nothing more than a crush, but Evan assumes that they are having an affair, and gives her what for. They have a big argument and Evan is finding it hard to accept, even though Maggie assures him that nothing happened.
Evan asks her what her feelings for Toadie are, to which she can only reply I will never leave you Evan'
Evan doesn't seem to like this explanation so storms out, leaving Maggie bewildered.
Number 24
Harold, Lou and Rosie are having fun cooking, Rosie is feeding Harold seductively.
Lyn comes in asking if she can have a word with Rosie, she tells Rosie that she and Joe had their hearts set on a Catholic wedding, but the Lamberts are Anglican, and as the families don't get on she doesn't know what to do. Rosie tells her that they can do a ceremony that accommodates both faiths, and tells her to pop by the church for a chat.
As Rosie gets back to cooking with the boys, Lyn comments that Rosie is half like Lou and half like Harold. Rosie doesn't know how to take the news, Lyn feels a bit awkward so hastily retreats.
The Coffee Shop
Mal is questioning Libby about Harold. How old he is, who he leases the place from? He obviously has designs on The Coffee Shop.
Number 24
Harold is telling Mal that he can't accept his offer.
He makes small talk with Mal, who says that he will be back to see him again.
Rosie arrives for coffee. Harold in a flirty mood tells Rosie that he likes the top that she is wearing. He tells her that she can make anything look good, even a Hessian bag. He tells Rosie that he also likes her sense of humour, and Rosie says that he makes her laugh too.
Harold is musing over the comment that Lyn made the night before, and wonders what it was Lyn saw in Rosie that she can also see in Harold. In a further attempt to woo Rosie he offers her some Madeira cake, another thing they both have in common is their sweet tooth.
Number 26
Lou is telling Lyn that Rosie is a fun person to be with, generous, doesn't suffer fools gladly. He thinks that he and Rosie have similar qualities.
Lyn tells Lou that it is obvious that he has a soft spot for her, as he hasn't stopped talking about her since he got there.
Lou's Place.
Mal is trying to get Dorothy to break Harold's lease and give it to him, she at first refuses, but when he writes down what Cuppa Diem is willing to pay for the lease of the coffee shop she looks like she may change her mind.
Number 26
Harold is the next person to be singing Rosie's praises to Lyn, saying that Rosie is much more suited to him that to Lou.
Lyn tries to tactfully mention that Lou may also be interested in Rosie, but Harold dismisses it saying that He and Rosie are more suited.
Hancocks
Emily and Maggie are playing snap, but they are all missing Evan. Emily asks when he will be back, but Maggie doesn't have the answer.
As Leo takes Emily out to play, Matt tells Maggie not to worry, that Evan has done things like this before, and he will soon be back and things will be OK.
Matt lets slip that he and Toadie have discussed the situation, and he knows that nothing happened. Maggie is worried that Evan doesn't believe her.
Lou's Place
Lou has treated Rosie to a steak dinner, again Lou is showering Rosie with compliments.
Rosie tells him that there is a service at the church, and she has asked Harold to do a reading, but she thinks that Harold may struggle, so asks Lou to do the reading in his place.
As Lou persuades Rosie to have a desert she flirtatiously tells him that he brings out the worst in her.
Number 24
Matt has come to apologise to Harold, he is sorry that he hasn't been to do it before, but he has been finding it difficult, and he is sorry to have caused so much pain.
Harold accepts his apologies, and tells him that will be the end of the matter, and that they have to get on with their lives, Matt is thankful that Harold has taken such a kind view on the matter.
As Harold shows Matt out, Dorothy has arrived with news on the lease of The Coffee Shop.
Hancocks
Evan has finally come home. Maggie tells him that she was not entirely honest with her about Toadie, she tells him that she did have feelings for Toadie, and that she was attracted to him. She says that he made her feel alive.
Evan is hurt by the news, but when Maggie asks if he is going to get angry with her, he tells her that he won't give her the satisfaction. He tells her that she has to accept him for who he is, and if she can't she should go with Toadie, but if she does do that he won't be welcoming her back.
Number 28
Harold is very angry as he is telling Karl that Mal is trying to steal the lease for The Coffee Shop from him. Harold is really upset as The Coffee Shop means so much to him, as it is the business that he built up with Madge. Karl says that he will have a word with him.
The Church
Lyn and Rosie are discussing the wedding, when a very distressed Harold arrives, he tells them that he is about to lose his business because of Mal. He is at the church as he needs somewhere to think, he says that he is glad that he still has faith in God, as his faith in humanity is being sorely tested.
Number 28
Karl is questioning Mal about buying the lease to The Coffee Shop. Mal won't accept that he has done anything wrong, and accuses Karl of being jealous of his success. Mal thinks that Harold has 'had his day' and is nearing retirement. Karl is very angry with Mal but Mal just gets angry that Karl is not being supportive of his career.
