Recap
Drew says he's going to organise this year's cricket team. Karl says he can be captain again!
Karl and Darcy work on two patients in trouble at the hospital.
Kennedys
Karl's patients survived, but Karl is angry with himself for panicking - his mind went blank. He says he can't cut it anymore. Susan says he can't chuck medicine in because she's already a lady of leisure and there's only room for one! Karl says they were lucky today but next time the patients might not be so lucky.
Hancocks
Evan is playing with Emily's dolls(!) when Maggie comes in with her results. Her results are C, D and Ungraded. She looks upset.
The Pub
Toadie is having a beer with Matt. He tells Matt he's been invited to a cocktail party with the senior partner in his law company. He is lucky to get an invite - if he gives a good impression to the people who attend, he's made for life. He's worried he'll stuff up somehow, though!
Hancocks
Maggie is upset at her results - she can't believe she failed Constitutional Law because she busted a gut over it. She thinks that they didn't get her special consideration form in time. Evan suggests that she appeals, or she could repeat the subject. Maggie says they can't go on struggling and anyway she wouldn't graduate for another year. She sobs in Evan's arms.
Scullys
Lyn asks Joe what he thinks of Mitch because he's been in prison and she thinks Steph's got a crush on him. Joe thinks Steph could do a lot worse(!) - he thinks Mitch is straightforward. Lyn says it's just as well if Joe is going to do more work with him. Lyn says it seems like unless a man has got a criminal record, Steph's not interested!
Posh law firm cocktail party
Toadie turns up and looks a bit awkward, not knowing anyone. Tim sees him and says they've got the cream of the crop here today - all top businessmen. They go over to have a word with Archie, the senior partner. He can't remember Toadie's name.
Hancocks
Maggie has rung the University, but they're not interested. Matt can't believe that Evan wants him to study in a place that behaves like that!
Maggie heads off to her book club with Susan. Evan tells Matt he's going to stand as cricket captain.
The Pub
Joe is telling the assembled about his previous cricket captain prowess. They look very bored(!) Evan asks how they will elect a captain and Joe and Karl looks like they can't quite understand this concept! They decided that everyone will tell the group their credentials. Darcy tells them that he played cricket at Uni and was selected for the State Training Squad. Their jaws drop.
Darcy goes up to Karl at the bar and asks if he's OK about what happened at the hospital. He says he is.
Kennedys
Lyn, Maggie and Susan are at their bookclub. Maggie tells them that she failed one exam. She says she thought she was wonderwoman and she's not. Susan and Lyn sympathise - lots of women have the same problem. They agree that it's really hard not to be a mum first.
Posh law firm cocktail party
Toadie is not doing very well at the party and accidentally heard about an insurance company that is going bust. Toadie thinks that they should tell the press so people can get other insurance, but Tim says that it's sensitive information that has to be protected. Toadie sees someone sleeping and inadvertently insults him to the senior partner by calling him Noddy! - he turns out to be the senior partner's best friend!
The Pub
Darcy is telling Karl that what happened at the hospital was no reflection on his medical ability - it was just busy. Karl seems to take this in and thanks Darcy.
Kennedys
An ex-student has rung student from Perth to encourage her to stay at the school. Susan is quite touched.
The Pub
Matt asks Darcy what women look for in a guy. Darcy laughs and can't believe Matt is asking him(!) He says it's not really technique, it's more chemistry - some people fall in love more easily than others. Matt asks how he should tell a girl how he feels.
Kennedys
Susan, Maggie and Lyn are just chatting, and not talking about books at all!
The Pub
The guys are about to take a secret vote on the cricket team captain.
Posh law firm cocktail party
Tim gives Toadie an envelope with information about an investment in a local film company. Tim wants Toadie to track down investors - if he does he'll get a finder's fee of 7%. The senior partner seems to have calmed down and says he's had his friend sent home because he's ill. It was a good job that Toadie noticed!
The Pub
Darcy has been elected cricket captain, much to his surprise. Joe isn't too pleased, but Darcy tells him that he'll need to turn to him for advice.
Kennedys
Karl and Joe come in talking amicably about cricket. They tells Susan that they've decided to give someone else a go at being team captain this year(!)
Evan comes in and shows Susan letters and faxes from staff, students, parents and ex-students, begging her to stay on. Susan is very touched. Evan says he thought she should know what people are saying. Susan hugs him.
Hancocks
Maggie and Evan are pleased that Evan has made up with Susan - now they can be proper neighbours again. Evan asks Maggie how she feels about the University situation, but she is evasive and says she's going down the shops.
Emily tells Evan things that Maggie said at the bookclub about quitting Uni. Evan looks worried.
Coffee Shop
Toadie sees Joe and talks to him about insurance. He asks him cryptically who he has insurance with. As it turns out, Joe is with the company who are about to go bust - he thinks they are good. Toadie looks stricken.
