Lou's Place
Joel is boring the pants off Drew about Vernon Wells when Steph arrives. A game of pool is suggested to change the subject and Joel and Steph go to set the table off as Darcy comes in and talks to Drew. Darcy is shocked when Drew buys him a beer and they chat about Lolly being removed from Lou and Darcy suggests that they keep a close eye on Lou so he doesn't slip back into old habits. They change topics onto Darcy's hunt for a new job and Darcy says that he's gone for one but it was only part-time which isn't suitable.

Joel decides to head home after Steph has thrashed him at pool. Drew turns down a game too and they chat about Steph's job interview and just as she is about to tell him about Mitch his phone rings. The call is from Scottie and the gist of the conversation is he is getting desperate for the $10k. Drew assures him that he'll help out before he ends the call.

The atmosphere is very tense as the Hancock's have supper. Emily and Leo bail and Evan wants the truth from Maggie - was he the only one to know what wasn't going on. Maggie tries to let him down gently by saying that she did try to tell him a few weeks ago but he had his head buried in a bucket of sand, a position familiar to Stax fans. Evan wonders what his next move will be to repair the damage with Leo and Maggie suggests talking to Leo.

Susan mildly berates Karl for setting up the camcorder to spy on the neighbours but he tries to defend his actions given the burglaries from not so long ago. Thankfully Darcy arrives to pass on a message from Lou (thanking them for their help at the court) and to seek Karl's consent to putting an ad in the paper to advertise laser treatment that can be done with the expensive laser machine they bought. Karl and Darcy have a bit of a ding-dong over the running of the surgery (Darcy promised someone a job) and Darcy decides it is probably best that he leaves.
Susan then has a go at him and reminds Karl that he wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Darcy rescuing him recently.
The Coffee Shop
Joel is now boring the pants off the recently returned Joe about Vernon Wells but thankfully for Joe, Steph arrives and he moves away from Joel to sit at a table with Steph. They talk a bit about Joe's trip and she subtly asks him about Mitch.

Drew is round for brekkie and is trying to put Darcy's case for him but Susan quickly changes subject onto the house he and Libby almost bought. They are still astonished that Drew and Libby withdrew the offer they had put in. Karl then tells Drew about Susan planning not to renew her tenure at the school. Drew is surprised especially when Susan says she may quit teaching altogether and adds that the staff or pupils aren't going to take the news lying down. With Drew stuck in the middle, Karl and Susan start having a ding-dong over this.

Maggie plaits Emily's hair whilst telling her again about Lolly not being available to play with. Evan comes in and they wonder how Lou is going to cope. Leo also enters and conveniently Emily and Maggie leave as Evan apologises for the whole non-bullying thing. Evan and Leo decide to clear the air and have a chat about everything that is worrying Leo.
The Coffee Shop
Susan is now trying to tell Susan the things she can do if she weren't working when Darcy arrives to show off a letter he received from a patient thanking him. Karl wants to know what the hidden agenda is since the letter has fallen on his deaf ears and reminds Darcy that the ad would be in the paper long after he has left and that he was never keen on going down the cosmetic surgery route either. He then suggests to Darcy that he put the letter in his resume...because it might impress someone!
Lou's Place
Joe and Steph finish their lunch as Drew arrives. Joe offers Drew his seat as he has to get back to work but not before Joe asks about the house and if they put an offer in. Joe is surprised to hear that Drew and Libby withdrew the offer (Drew says because of the cost of repairs) and when Joe leaves Steph wants to know the real reason. Eventually Drew cryptically asks if she feels that the past sometimes catches up with her? Steph replies yes before teasing him that he has a past full of deep dark secrets.

Darcy asks Susan what he can do to make things better with Karl. She starts by suggesting an apology! Darcy replies that he's tried that and besides Karl isn't giving him the time of day. Susan points out the facts to Darcy over why Karl would be reluctant to give him the time of day and that he's made his bed and can lie in it until he admits he was wrong...if he is man enough to do it.

Leo tells Evan that he's come up with an idea to solve their problem - ignoring each other! Evan is a bit taken aback until Leo explains better - when they are outside the house, they are to pretend they aren't related to each other. Evan wonders if it will work and Leo says they can but give it a try plus it will mean he doesn't need to change schools either.
Lou's Place
Steph is trying to tell Drew that he can say no to Scottie especially as he has a family on the way. Drew is reluctant to even phone and tell Libby about Scottie's request. He concedes to her though that there is a reason behind it - something happened between him and Scottie when they were younger and he feels that he owes Scottie big time, which means that he isn't in a position to say no.
No. 32
Evan tells Maggie about Leo's solution to their problem and that Leo sounded relieved when he suggested it. Evan wonders if he's lost Leo's respect. Maggie suggests that since it is the school holidays, it may be all forgotten about when the new session starts.

Karl makes some adjustments to the camcorder and Susan suggests that with a bit more adjusting they'll be able to see into Harold's front room! She leaves to go to the library just as Darcy arrives.
Darcy tries to get straight to the point by saying that he doesn't want to leave the practice and besides the lawyers fees will send them both under! Karl replies that he's heard it all before and tells Darcy that he has a nerve coming round. Darcy admits he was wrong and has come to offer an apology not give excuses. He begs Karl by saying that he needs the job at the practice to prove to everyone, Karl included, that he isn't the conniving piece of scum he's being portrayed as and that their partnership means more to him than Karl will ever know.
