Ruth tells someone on the phone that she'll be there in fifteen
Ruth tells Phil that she went to meet Graham Pinders.
Phil asks Ruth why she lied to him.
Ruth tells Phil that she did lie about going to see Graham Pinders.
Ruth says that really she was organising something for Phil's birthday
next week. Phil apologises for accusing her.
Paul is back from Port Lincoln. He got on well with his dad while he
was there. Harold tells him that Jade has rung him several times. Paul
asks Harold if he was lonely by himself in the house. Harold says that he
was a bit. Paul says that he really appreciates everything Harold and
Madge has done for him and he loves them both very much. Harold looks
Paul is washing cars and telling Drew about his trip. He asks Drew if
he's going back to Oakie. Drew says he's not sure yet. Lou tells Paul
that Pear Passion is ready to be bottled and offers him the job. Paul
Phil is reading the Erinsborough News. He sees a police notice
appealing for witness to Pinhead's accident - they think another vehicle was
involved. Ruth says she can't meet Phil for lunch - she has an errand to
Harold is practising his scales - he's joined the University Choral
Society. Jade rings for Paul. He has a quick conversation with her and
puts the phone down. Harold asks Paul if Leo is doing alright - he hasn't
said a lot about him since he got back. Paul says he was working well
and his boss respected him. Also Leo is not into drinking with the other
guys on the ship. Harold is very pleased.
Joel is on the phone to Geri making plans for the evening. Paul comes
round to see Tad but he isn't in. Joel sees Paul's friendship bracelet
from Jade. He says it sounds serious between them. Paul says that things
have got a bit tricky - Hannah is coming home in a week. Joel asks him
who he likes best - Jade or Hannah. Paul says he likes them both - it's
hard because Hannah's not here and Jade is.
The Coffee Shop
Frances the librarian comes in. She gives Harold a trilogy of "South
Sea Heat" books! Harold is very embarrassed and tries to tell her what
happened. But just then Lou comes in and sees the trilogy. He teases
Harold unmercifully about his love of stimulating literature(!). Frances is
quite taken with Lou - she thought he was a fun guy.
Frances tells Harold that she's auditioning for the University Choral
Society today. It's another interest the two of them have in common.
Lou, Drew and Paul are having tea. Paul is cleaning bottles ready for
bottling Pear Passion. Drew tells him not to be too hard on him - he's
got girl problems. Lou says that Drew has girl problems too - he should
give Libby a ring and he can even use the garage phone! Drew says Libby
has gone to get away and wouldn't want him ringing her. Lou tells him
the other option is to take a cold shower(!)
Phil asks Ruth if she's organised anything at the pub for his birthday
next week. Lou says that she hasn't.
Joel tells Drew that he's been looking miserable lately and he needs a
good woman. He says Drew should hang out at University - he should do a
part-time course(!). Drew says he's not in the market for a one-night
stands. He says he's already found the right girl, she just hasn't rung
Ruth is on the phone to someone and telling them off. Phil comes in and
thinks she's organising his birthday again.
The Coffee Shop
Frances comes in and says she made a fool of herself at the choir
audition. She says she wanted to join because she's lonely - her husband
died five years ago and her daughter lives in Sydney. She asks Harold if
his wife is still away. She says she'd like to come round and prepare a
meal for him and Paul one night. Harold tells her he's absolutely
devoted to Madge. Frances says she can see that and he's perfectly safe.
Drew is babysitting for Lolly. Paul comes round looking for Tad. Drew
asks Paul if he's OK - he looks a bit down. He tells Drew he's scared to
tell someone something. Drew says it's best to just tell them - the
sooner the better. He says he should tell Hannah about Jade before she
The other problem is about Paul's dad. He's going to do the same thing
- say what he thinks. Drew wishes he could take his own advice.
Later at Lou's
Drew tells Lou that he's going to stay in Erinsborough - if he goes
back to Oakie he'll never know if he has a future with Libby. Lou and
Lolly are very pleased. Lou tells him to give Libby a ring. Lou gets out a
bottle of Pear Passion to celebrate!
Paul is on the phone to Madge. Afterwards, he and Harold sit down to
dinner. Paul tells Harold with some difficulty that he wants to go to
live with his father. His father has put down a deposit on a house and
Paul wants to join him there.
