- Drew teaches Amy how to drive.
- Amy switches on the ute and accidentally reverses into Drew.
Lance and Amy rush to see if Drew is okay. He climbs up from behind the ute, saying he stubbed his toe getting out of the way. Lance asks Amy why she started the car when she was only practising gear changes. They spot a broken tail light and tell Amy they will cost $100 to replace. Amy asks if they're insured, but Drew says it won't cover her as she's not a licensed driver. Amy agrees to pay as long as they don't tell Anne. Everyone teases her about her driving and the fewer people that know the better. Lance and Drew agree.
AMY: So, Drew, when's our next driving lesson?
Hannah is writing an email when Phil interrupts and asks if she'll be long. He suggests they catch a movie and get dinner afterwards. Hannah agrees and suggests the others come too.

Mike apologises to Libby for being late. She complains about her mark for her latest essay. He says the essay was too emotional and personal, she needs to be more objective. Libby wondered if he would be accused of favouritism if he gave her a high mark. He says this is one essay and it isn't the end of the world. Libby wants to re- read it and try to make it fit with what he said, she'll see him tonight for the movie.
Lance tells Amy she's a bad driver. Amy feels stupid and now she knows Drew won't want to teach her. Lance agrees with everything she said. Amy accuses him of turning into Harold, preachy. She doesn't know where she'll get $100 from. Amy doesn't want to work for her dad, so she's going to see if someone can lend her the money.
Hannah's dressed up for going out to the film. Phil notices the lipstick and perfume, but Hannah says she has to look cool in case someone from school sees her on a date with her dad. Phil tells her that Ruth is out for dinner with a friend and Lance and Amy are doing something else. Hannah wonders if he planned this in advance as a way to give her another lecture. Phil ignores her rant and tells her they should get to the movie.
Harold stops by to bring Lou a casserole. Lou says he is very grateful to him and Madge and wants to do something special for them, something they both like. Harold insists they don't need any gifts.
LOU: I spent a lot of time working on my image around Erinsborough and I don't want to be remembered by being face down in a spa with my b… bathers in the air.
Harold suggests Lou come down to the allotment and get his hands dirty. Lou thinks that will be too boring and says he will think of something else.
Amy tells Lance she's managed to borrow $30. She says she's going to have to get a professional driving instructor and they're $50 a lesson. She'll probably need a hundred lessons. Lance says she knows the basics, she just needs to fine tune them. Lance tells her not to get downhearted, they'll get the money. Lance says he won't gamble, but he won't tell Amy how he plans to get the money.
Phil enjoyed the action film they saw, but Hannah thought it was formulaic.
PHIL: There's no pleasing you these days, and I'm not talking just about the movie.
HANNAH: Here we go.
PHIL: Well it's true. You're rude to Ruth, you snap at me, you take no part in family life.
HANNAH: Which family are you talking about? Ours or Ruth's?
PHIL: But that's the thing, we're all one big family now.
HANNAH: It doesn't feel like one big family.
PHIL: Well you're the one stopping that.
HANNAH: I just don't like you treating Ruth as if she's my mother. Showing her my school report, I really hated that.
PHIL: She might be able to help.
HANNAH: But I don't want her help.
Harold brings them a coffee and says it is lovely seeing them both out together, happy families. As Harold lingers around, Phil asks if he's seen Lou. Harold tells him that he tried to get Lou to come down to the allotment. As Phil tries to encourage Harold to leave them to their dinner, Hannah puts on more lipstick. Hannah reveals it is Ruth's and she borrowed it without asking. Phil thinks it's very rude of Hannah. She tells Phil that if they're done with the lecture they should go back to talking about the film, or the internet or the weather.
Amy visits Lou, telling him that almost drowning in the spa sounds very Hollywood. Lou leaves her to talk to Drew while he ‘drags his sick- self off to bed.' Amy gives Drew $38 and says she'll get the rest to him soon. Drew says he'll fix the tail light and she can pay him off in instalments. Amy asks him again if he'd teach her again. Drew refuses. He'd like for them to stay mates but she needs a professional instructor. Drew firmly tells her to come to terms with it and get over it.
Hannah thanks Phil for the movie as she heads off to bed. After she leaves Phil tells Lance that Hannah's getting her braces off tomorrow, he's hoping that will cheer her up a bit. Phil asks if Hannah's said anything to Lance about the business with Ruth. He hasn't, he thought things were going well after the camping trip, but now they seem to be getting worse. Lance offers to have a word with Hannah, Phil says it is worth a try.
Libby and Mike discuss the film they saw. Libby brings up the essay marks again. He thinks she's being aggressive about this, she says she's just being firm and she has a right to be firm. He suggests he get another lecturer to re- mark it. Libby accepts.
The next morning, Lance returns from a jog to find Hannah writing Claire an email. Lance asks Hannah when she will have something nice to say about his mum.
LANCE: Mum's been trying very hard to be nice to you, when are you going to give her a bit of respect.
HANNAH: Why should I? She's not my mother. She even said on that camping trip that she didn't want to be, well hey, that's fine with me.
LANCE: She's only trying to help.
HANNAH: Well I didn't ask for that either.
LANCE: Hannah this hasn't been easy for any of us, but mum and Phil are trying very hard, they don't deserve to have people acting like spoilt brats giving them a hard time.
Lance goes to the kitchen, while Hannah looks moody.

Mike got the paper back from the other lecturer. He shows it to Libby.
LIBBY: This is ridiculous. He's marked me even lower than you did.
Phil waits by the car outside the building. Hannah rushes to the car upset. She tells Phil that he only took the top ones off.
Lou joins Harold who is gardening. He looks at Harold and Drew's pumpkins for the pumpkin competition. He tells Harold to drop out as Drew's will no doubt win. Lou suggests he run a book on this pumpkin competition with Drew as odds on favourite.

Libby asks Mike if he told the lecturer that she was complaining. Mike tells her he didn't. He tells Libby she's being egotistical and she's letting their relationship get in the way of her objectivity. Libby says he was right and she was wrong, she accepts that. Libby admits she's a bad loser. Mike says she'll do better next time.
Lance tells Amy about Hannah being a pain while Ruth makes so much effort with her. Amy says Hannah thinks that Ruth is trying to take over from her real mum. Lance says they're miles ahead of that realisation. Lance gives Amy money, $270, to pay for the tail light and driving lessons. Amy asks if it is gambling, but he says he had money stashed away from the jukebox. Amy suggests they go out cycling, and from Lance's dodging responses she realises that he's sold his bike. He says he pawned it, he'll be able to buy it back later on. She loudly declares that she loves Lance.
Hannah tells Phil off for trying to cheer her up about the braces. Phil reads a letter to him from Claire's parents.
PHIL: I think Claire's been talking to them about you. They say they understand you're very unhappy at the moment.
HANNAH: Do they?
PHIL: And that Ruth and I are thinking of sending you abroad and to repay our kindness to Claire they'd be happy for you to stay with them. Want to tell me what's going on?
