- Philip telling Hannah that there's a chance that Ruth could be very ill.
- Hannah letting slip to Lance and Anne that she knows what's wrong with Ruth.
It's the morning, before school, and Lance complains to Anne that he can't believe their mum would tell Phil and not them. Ruth comes in and Anne tells her that they have to talk: they're really worried about her and want to know how serious this thing is. Ruth asks cautiously what it is they think they know. Lance replies:
LANCE: That you've got a major health worry.
ANNE: A lump in the breast.
Ruth sighs and tells them that she didn't want them worrying - but she would have told them as soon as she knew anything for sure. Anne asks her when she's going to organise tests. Ruth just retorts that she's a responsible adult and will deal with this in her own way; it's probably not anything to worry about and she doesn't want them getting worked up. Anne pleads with her to have a test.
Billy is walking along the corridor with Amy, grinning that he got a B+! He goes on that it's funny working with her: he thought it would be very distracting, but it's been good. Unknown to either of them, Lance - watched by Caitlin - is hiding by the lockers, listening to them as Amy asks if they should keep on being partners. Billy says they'll have to do it all at her place if she's grounded outside school hours, but Amy says she's a total hero for blowing that accounts scam, so she's not grounded any more. Billy comments that she'll be able to keep Lance under surveillance then. Amy, however, retorts that she and Lance are finished: he's out of her life, and even if he comes begging now, there's no way he gets back in. By the lockers, Lance's face drops.
Ruth is sighing at Philip that she thought he promised not to say anything. There's a knock on the front door and Lou comes in and asks Philip if he can check some of his bookwork for him, as it's nearly the end of the financial year. He then adds that there's something else he wants to ask - a favour. Philip, however, tells him tersely to forget it: he's not performing as Little Tommy Tucker!
Libby joins Drew - who's working under a car - and comments that she gathers she missed some major hilarity last night! Drew asks her if she wants to go kayaking with him tomorrow and Libby smiles that she'd love to.
Lance walks past Amy and Billy, who are standing together in the corridor. Caitlin joins him and tells him to tell Amy that he wants to get back with her. Lance, however, points out that *he* was the one who called it off - and he doesn't want to look silly. Caitlin asks if he wants to find out if Amy still likes him. She goes on that he's got to put her under pressure and show her that he's ready to move on by making her see he's got a new girlfriend - a pretend one - and she's happy to volunteer!
Ruth joins Philip in the lounge room, where he tells her sincerely that he really is sorry. Ruth points out that she couldn't have made it clearer that she didn't want anyone else to know. Philip says she and Hannah are the people he loves most in the world and he was just trying to help Hannah understand. Ruth sighs that at least some good has come out of this: Anne badgered her so much this morning that she finally made the appointment for the mammogram
Billy is laughing at one of Amy's photos of Lance posing topless! At another table, Lance is watching Amy as he sits with Caitlin. She tells him to lean in really close to her and laugh as if she said something funny... and then whisper in her ear. As Lance does this, Caitlin glances at Amy and tells Lance that she isn't happy. Sitting with Amy, Billy tells her to stop staring at Lance! Amy, looking annoyed, says she's got to get going, but she might come over later for another study session. She walks out, leaving Caitlin to beam at Lance:
CAITLIN: Yes! Direct hit! The girl is on the run! I am a genius!
Hannah joins Philip and Ruth in the kitchen. Philip comments to his daughter that there's something she has to say to Ruth. Hannah looks at Ruth and tells her that she's sorry: she didn't know. Ruth asks if it's something she should have been talking about so casually. Hannah insists that she was trying to be on Ruth's side - and she's so sorry. She adds sincerely that she hopes everything's going to be OK. Ruth thanks her and gives her a hug.
Libby wanders past Billy and Amy, who are sitting at the table, studying. Amy asks Billy if he's sure Caitlin never said anything about Lance. Billy shrugs that Lance isn't really her type - and they were just sitting and talking. There's a knock on the door and Anne comes in and grins that she just had a call from the solicitor and the defamation suit has been dropped! She adds that they should go out and celebrate. Libby comments that they should go out and check out Lou's new place. Anne grimaces that it was awful last night - but she gives in.
Lance and Caitlin head into No. 32, where Caitlin tells Lance that they need to go to Little Tommy Tucker's tonight to work on Phase 2 of their plan. Lance doesn't look convinced and asks what happens if Amy wants to get back with him and seeing him and Caitlin together puts her off. Caitlin just sighs that he's got no idea about women!
Lou tells Drew that he's got another booking for tomorrow. Drew, however, says he needs tomorrow off: he's made arrangements - and he worked all day last Saturday, so Lou owes him. Lou reluctantly gives in and agrees to swap things around. Drew then says he's been thinking about setting up an on- site mobile servicing unit. Lou asks what *his* cut will be. They agree on 10%!
Ruth sees a patron - Mr. Patterson - out and then remarks to Hannah that that's almost it for the day. Hannah turns the TV off. Ruth asks her if she had the volume on quietly because of *her*. Hannah explains that she didn't want to disturb her patients. Ruth insists she doesn't want Hannah tiptoeing around on eggshells: it's her house. Hannah suggests that maybe she could get a TV in her room! Ruth says she doesn't want Hannah getting sick of her before she's officially part of the household.
Libby joins Drew at the bar and asks him if he managed to get tomorrow off. Drew nods that he did. He then shows Libby a newspaper article and comments that he doesn't think Lou will be thrilled about it! Lou joins them and sighs that he doesn't believe it: Little Tommy Tucker's is almost fully booked for tonight already. Drew shows him the newspaper - a positive review of the place. Lou looks at it in disbelief and annoyance!
Ruth joins Lance in the lounge room and tells him that she booked the test for the morning. Lance asks if he and Anne should come with her, but Ruth says there's no need to. She then asks Lance where he's going and he replies that it's Little Tommy Tucker's, with Caitlin. Ruth looks surprised, but tells him to have fun.
Caitlin is adjusting Lance's clothing to make it look like he's dressed the way *she* likes. Lance asks what they're going to do when they get to Little Tommy Tucker's, and Caitlin tells him to look at her like he can't take his eyes off her and laugh at whatever she says: that's what people *do* when they're in love. Lance comments that this is starting to feel a little bit silly. Caitlin tells him to relax, trust her and work with her.
Little Tommy Tucker's
Lou has had to take on the role of Little Tommy Tucker! Amy and Billy are singing on stage - badly! Their song comes to an end and they get a round of applause. As they walk off stage, Amy glances at Lance, who's laughing with Caitlin. He then leans forward to whisper something in her ear. Amy glares at them and then joins Billy. Caitlin tells Lance she's going to the ladies' room and ten to one Amy will come over and ask him what he thinks he's doing. She walks off. Amy stares at Lance.
Ladies' room at Little Tommy Tucker's
Caitlin walks into the ladies' room and starts powdering her nose. A few seconds later, Amy walks in and, glaring at Caitlin, demands to know what she's doing with Lance. Caitlin retorts that they're just friends. She asks Amy why she cares anyway, as she and Lance split up. Amy growls:
AMY: That's got nothing to do with it. You just keep your sleazy little hands away from him, Caitlin. I know it's your style, but just have a little self- control for once. Do we understand each other?
With that, she walks out, leaving Caitlin looking pleased with herself!
