Recap
- Caitlin is training hard.
- Joel tells Caitlin that her coach said she had a fair way to go.
No.30
Caitlin's coach tells her she's a good swimmer, but maybe not good enough to get in to the Institute. She might have already reached her peak, as her times aren't coming down regularly. He thinks she's too emotional about getting in to the Institute but she insists that she's fine.
No.24
Paul and Harold are talking about having another jam today. Anne pops round to ask if she can borrow some gardening tools to work on Lily's garden. Madge and Harold offer to help out too.
The phone rings and Paul answers it - it's Claudia, calling from the coffee shop. She asks him to come down to see her.
In the kitchen, Madge and Harold offer Anne a lift to Lily's house. Paul tells Madge he's popping down to the Coffee Shop and he'll catch up them at Lily's house.
Coffee Shop
Karen and Toadie are chatting. Toadie is a bit down - he's finished his essay, but he's not sure it's any good.
Paul arrives. Claudia tells him that she doesn't want to go to the formal with Paul because he's not taking it seriously enough and doesn't want to learn to dance.
No.32
Amy and Lance are hanging out. Anne moans at them for not helping with the working bee for Lily's garden. Lance and Amy says they're playing touch football with Toadie, Caitlin and a few others. Anne rolls her eyes and stomps off. When she's gone, Lance says he feels a bit guilty. Amy says maybe they should go along after all - they don't have to play football all day.
Coffee Shop
Toadie is feeling rather stressed and is chatting to Phil.
Hannah invites Paul along to the working bee. He tells her that Claudia has dumped him for the formal because he can't dance. Hannah says that Paul could always start going to the classes. He asks if Hannah will teach him and she reluctantly agrees.
Lily's garden
The working bee has begun. Anne is pleased when Amy and Lance turn up. She introduces them to Lily. Lily tells Anne about the garden parties that she used to have, and she wants to buy some pastries for them to have today. She asks Harold to lend her his car. He isn't too keen and suggests that he drives them instead(!) Madge says that it's fine for Lily to drive Harold's car! Harold is forced to give in and hands over his keys, still looking rather worried(!)
No.30
Caitlin is telling Nick what her coach said. She says she's just going to have to work harder. He tells her that she has to be realistic - not everyone can make it as a sportsperson.
Billy comes round and Caitlin tells him that she can't play touch football today as she needs to look for a new coach. Nick explains to Billy (when Caitlin is out of the room) that Caitlin has gone a bit mad.
No.24
Hannah is teaching Paul to dance. He isn't very good. She tries to encourage him and puts a slow tune on. She points out that Paul plays the guitar, so he knows what rhythm is about.
No.30
Caitlin is on the phone to Josh who is giving her the number of a potential new swimming coach. Toadie and Billy are messing around. Toadie sees the paper and realises that she's written the number over his macro- economics assignment (and some doodles too) and ruined it. He is almost apoplectic with rage.
Lily's garden
Harold is almost beside himself with worry about his car(!) Madge tells him to calm down. After a few minutes, Lily and Anne arrive back safely, with Anne driving. They have got the pastries.
No.30
Toadie has calmed down a bit now. Billy says that he could print it out again, but Toadie has lost the disk. Billy says that Toadie can come over to his house and re- type the ruined pages. Toadie tells Caitlin crossly that it would be nice if she thought about other people in the house for a change. She apologises, but Toadie just rolls his eyes.
Billy suggests they use Phil's computer as Libby is normally hogging theirs.
No.24
Hannah and Paul are dancing. He's finally got the hang of it. He thanks her, and says that he's sure Claudia will change her mind about going to the formal with him. Hannah looks a bit downcast.
Pub
Phil agrees that Billy and Toadie can use his computer. Phil and Toadie discuss macro- economics. Phil looks thoughtful and asks if he can read Toadie's essay when he's finished it. Toadie says it's boring but Phil points out that he did major in economics and it's quite interesting when you get in to it.
No.30
Phil is reading Toadie's essay. Lance and Amy comes along to play football, but Toadie says it's been put off so he can re- type his essay. They about Lily and Anne borrowing Harold's car.
When they've gone, Phil tells Toadie that there's a problem in his essay - there are a few major areas that he hasn't even covered. Phil gives him a bit of a lecture on how to write essays at university level - logical development in his argument and so on. Phil thinks it needs a complete re- write and Toadie looks very downcast, saying he's going to fail.
Lily's house
The working be is finally over. Anne puts some flowers in a vase. Lily starts to choke. Anne pats her on the back, but it doesn't work, so she screams for Madge and Harold.
