Recap
- Libby yells at Darren to get out of her house. Darren begs her, he loves her more than he loved anyone. She says she loved him too but she can't trust him anymore. She tells him it's over.
- Harold leads Madge into the house while she's wearing bandages over her eyes.
- Paul asks if Madge will be able to see again. Harold says of course she will, but Madge doesn't think they should raise false hopes.
Number 28
Libby opens the door to Darren. He accepts that it's over, he says he's been staying out of her way. Libby says this is ridiculous, it's been one day! She tells him nothing will change her mind and wants him to go. Darren asks for her help, she knows him better than he knows himself.
LIBBY: Even if I did understand why you keep cheating on me, that doesn't mean I'm going to put up with it.
DARREN: I know. I'm not saying that.
LIBBY: I don't know what you're saying. I'm not going to be your counsellor. Just sort out your own headspace and I'll sort out mine.
DARREN: Libby please. You said you loved me. If you loved me you'd want to help.
LIBBY: Emotional blackmail is not going to work either! Why should I help you when all you've done is hurt me?
Libby slams the door in Darren's face.
Number 24
Harold packs away the dishes after breakfast. Madge insists she can still do them herself. She tells him to go to work, but he says he doesn't have to work until this afternoon so he can stay and get all the jobs done. Harold asks if she was being a bit negative earlier while speaking to Paul. He doesn't want her to give up hope. Madge says she isn't giving up hope, but she has to be realistic, there's a chance she won't get her sight back and she has to be prepared for that.
Ramsay Street
Ruth greets Phil who is coming back from walking Holly. Ruth says one of her old friends is getting married this weekend. She admits it's a bit impromptu. Phil thinks they're on the B- List, but Ruth says from how few people are coming that they're definitley on the A- List. Ruth says she's agreed to help organise the wedding cake, which would involve a trip to the bakers, she asks Phil if he thinks they can manage. Phil thinks it shouldn't be a problem.
RUTH: It's funny her doing it like this, she's usually so organised, she doesn't even have a wedding dress!
PHIL: Well it is her wedding, you can't organise everything! I know it must be a strain.
RUTH: Alright, Philip I will let it go.
PHIL: I know it must be hard for you.
RUTH: (laughing) Shut up! What do you reckon? Intimate weekend for two?
PHIL: We've been invited to the honeymoon too have we?
RUTH: No that would make it an intimate weekend for four!
Number 22
Lou asks Drew (though calls him Andrew) if he'd be happy with those conditions, and Drew says it shouldn't be a problem. As Lou leads Drew to the door, he asks him to keep it quiet until he's had a chance to speak to Ben. Drew agrees, and tells Lou he's rapt about the job. Lou shakes his hand and says he'll give him a call. Drew leaves.
Darren comes down the stairs, and tells Lou that he saw Libby earlier. He knows he shouldn't have gone over there, it's just made things worse. There's a knock at the door from Libby. She comes in and tells Darren that she's not here to apologise, she doesn't owe him one, she doesn't owe him anything, but he sounded down before and she doesn't want him to do anything rash. Libby says he's being unfair to her and he should go out there and live his life. Darren wants to explain things to her, she says she gave him the chance the other day. Libby wonders why she's even talking to him. He says it's because she cares. Darren asks if they can help each other through this, and she agrees. She says he can come over tonight if it'll help. If she can't handle it, it stops, and nothing's changing.
Number 24
Madge looks bored, and Harold asks if he can do anything to cheer her up.
HAROLD: I know, how about a little something on the tuba.
MADGE: Harold please! The eyes are bad enough, not the ears as well!
Madge tells him to stop fussing, he's driving her crazy. She knows he means well, but he'd be more help if he sat down quietly with her and stopped fussing. He sits down with her. She tells him that she's given this a great deal of thought, and she's come to a decision that's best for all of them. He's got too much to deal with here without having to look after her as well, so she's going back to Queensland for a bit. At least until she knows whether she'll get her sight back.
Surgery
Karl asks what Sarah's reading. Sarah is revising for her test tomorrow. Karl says he uses mnemonics to help learn the parts of the body. He offers to help her study. Karl says he'd be insulted if she doesn't let him help her, they are friends after all. Sarah agrees.
Number 24
Harold says she can't just come to this decision, these things take thought.
MADGE: What do you think I've been doing? Playing I- Spy?
Harold tells her she is not a burden. He loves her. Madge says she's been talking to the kids who have been pressuring her to go up and stay there until she's fully recovered. Harold says she has to consider the practicalities, it's less familiar up there and she'll be too proud to ask for help. Madge says she wants to spend time with them, she's just trying to make everyone happy which is impossible. Harold asks if she's considered young Paul, who's worried that he brought this on. Madge says that's ridiculous, but Harold thinks if she leaves now Paul will think it's because of him.
Number 32
Anne and Billy return home and play with Bonnie. Anne sees a note from Ruth which reads they've gone to get cake and will be back later. Anne wonders what cake she's getting. Anne gets a phone call with a message for Ruth. Anne tells Billy it was the drycleaners saying that Ruth's wedding dress is ready.
BILLY: Well maybe she spilt the cake on it and had to get it dry cleaned?
ANNE: On a wedding dress? Besides they're only just picking up the cake now.
BILLY: Ah, that's to replace the cake she just spilled!
ANNE: You idiot. For her to wear on the weekend. For their wedding!
BILLY: With Phil.
ANNE: Yes!
BILLY: Must be eloping!
They laugh about it.
Number 24
Paul returns home from school. Madge tells him that she's finding it very difficult being unable to see. She's decided to go to Queensland to visit her daughter. Paul is upset about it and asks how long she'll be away. Madge says it's only four weeks and she assures Paul she loves having him here, and she's only leaving because of her eyes. She loves him very much and would hate for him to think otherwise. She insists Paul give her a hug, and he does.
Number 28
Billy tells Libby that Ruth and Phil are eloping, but Anne says Billy's joking. Billy explains the evidence and says it seems suspicious. Libby thinks Phil is far too conservative to elope, he'd have it planned years in advance. Libby tells them Darren's coming over and asks them to make themselves scarce. Anne drags Billy out of the house saying they should find out what's going on from Ruth. Billy's excited about the wedding.
Number 22
Darren tells Lou he's going over to chat to Libby. Shannon arrives, frantic. She says Brian's gone missing and she thought he'd arrive here. They were at the shops, he was holding her hand, she let go for a couple of seconds and then he wasn't there. Lou reassures her that kids do this all the time and they'll find him.
Number 32
Anne and Billy continue to speculate about Ruth and Phil's wedding. Ruth and Phil arrive with the cake and show it off to Anne, who now panics when she realises it's a wedding cake. Anne tells Ruth that her wedding dress is ready, and Ruth is cheerfully pleased about that. She wonders why Anne is behaving oddly. Billy tells them when they heard about the cake and dress they thought they were getting married. Ruth and Phil laugh it off.
RUTH: I promise you if we were getting married you'd be the second to know.
PHIL: Who'd be the first?
RUTH: You hopefully.
Ruth explains that the cake is for her friend Rowena, but can't remember her last name. Anne's never heard of her. Ruth explains that she'd got an old wedding dress for Rowena. Phil and Ruth leave, and Anne tells Billy that Ruth and Phil couldn't even remember the name they decided in their cover story. Anne wonders who gets married in a dress they've never seen. She thinks Billy's right, she thinks they're the ones getting married.
Lassiter's
Darren calls out looking for Brian. Lou and Darren both haven't found him anywhere. They assure Shannon they'll find him. They've been to all his favourite places. Shannon says Brian likes water, so Darren suggests they go to Lassiter's Lake. Lou stays by the phone.
Number 32
Anne and Billy question Ruth and Philip about this wedding. Only 6 couples are going, the kids aren't invited. Anne says she and Hannah would hate to not know their parents are getting married. Phil and Ruth defend their friends' decision, its second time round for both of them and they want to save an expensive extravagant wedding. They don't think it's a big deal but Anne and Billy are suspicious.
Lassiter's Lake
Darren and Shannon calls out for Brian.
Ramsay Street
Hannah shows Phil her media assignment, she got a 'C-.' They're both furious about it. Hannah lost marks in the teamwork section because she didn't cooperate with Paul.
HANNAH: It's a lot easier to cooperate on your own.
Phil thinks she shouldn't be surprised by the bad mark. He says next time she'll get a better mark if she does what they ask her to do. Phil tells Hannah that he and Ruth are away to Marysville for the weekend and have a lot to get organised. He'll ask Karl and Susan if Hannah can stay with them. Hannah thinks that's alright.
Phil heads inside, while Anne and Billy call Hannah over. Anne asks if she's heard anything about their parents going away this weekend, and then tell Hannah that they're going to elope.
Park
Darren and Shannon hear a dog barking and a child screaming. They race over to a large wire fence, and see Brian on the other side standing on top of an old car. Brian's screaming for help while a dog barks at him. Darren climbs the fence, while Shannon shouts to him that Darren's coming to get him and he should stay there.
