Recap
Justin threatening Billy.
Phil and Ruth enjoying each other's company at the pub.
Billy telling Anne he really likes her.
Number 32
Ruth comes home, humming away to herself. Lance is still up and quizzes her about the night. Anne comes out and asks about the date - did Phil try to kiss her? Ruth refuses to answer that question and after sending Lance off to see to Bonnie. Anne tells Ruth about Billy's confession and she's getting mad thinking about Billy's timing. She didn't start dating Justin to make Billy feel jealous (no, you said that if Billy wasn't interested you may as well go out with someone who was). Ruth advises her to sort it out sooner rather than later.

Phil's telling Helen about the fun they had that night.
HELEN: Ruth has a great sense of humour.
PHIL: So do I. If I'm not the butt of it.
They have a bit of a laugh about Phil splitting his trousers and then Phil concedes to having had a great time. Helen's got the moral high ground - she's always liked Ruth and Phil didn't because he's stubborn. But then so's Ruth. Hannah gets up and quizzes her dad about the night, and is thrilled about how well it went. Phil plays down the night so Hannah heads back to bed. Phil tells Helen that it's early days and while he likes Ruth until he finds out it's mutual he's not getting Hannah excited over it.

Billy's telling Toadie about his bad night - Justin wanted him to go and he confessed all to Anne. He should accept that she's with someone else and when he confessed all Anne just sat there stunned, not saying anything. Billy starts to head off to school when Toadie tells him that maybe Anne has slept on it and come to the conclusion that she likes him more than she likes Justin.
Number 32
Ruth takes delivery of some flowers. Lance jokes that they're from "Casanova Phil; the man who can't keep his pants on". Ruth gushes over the flowers before reading the card and finding out they're for Anne from Justin - the delivery guy said "Ms Wilkinson"... Lance says that hers from Phil must still be in the mail. Ruth looks somewhat disappointed as she calls for Anne.
Outside Toadie meets Lance and they discuss his maths work. As Toadie looks through it he sees a caricature that Lance has done of him in the corner of one of his pages. Toadie's impressed with his talent and asks Lance who he can draw. Toadie asks him to do a few of the teachers...

Anne catches up with Billy and he heads her off saying that he shouldn't have said what he said. Anne tells him that it's her choice and he's making things very difficult for her. Billy just wants to forget the whole thing.

Helen and Ruth are talking about the evening and Ruth's pleased to hear that Phil gushed about the whole evening. As Ruth goes to see to the kettle Helen asks how Ruth would feel if Phil asked her out again. At that moment Phil comes barging in, declaring that the fiasco isn't going to happen again if he can help it.
PHIL: The next time you see me growing out of my clothes can you elbow me in the ribs or something? I don't think my self esteem can take...
He stops dead when he sees Ruth standing in his kitchen. Phil's been out and bought a new suit. Beige. Ish. Camel colour. Buff. He nervously makes his excuses and leaves, Ruth unable to take the smile off her face.

Lance has done some more caricatures of some of the staff and students and Toadie thinks they have the makings of an underground comic strip. Hannah comes up and asks what they're up to so Lance tells her. Toadie's not impressed but Lance says she can help out. Toadie says he needs to do caricatures of all the other teachers. Hannah asks if this is illegal...
TOADIE: No, it's not illegal.
HANNAH: First for you then.
Out in the school grounds Anne's waiting for Justin who pulls up in the car. The two of them walk over to where Billy is sat eating his lunch. Anne goes off to get her lunch and Justin starts to make comments about Billy hanging around with them. When Toadie comes over to sit with Billy Justin snipes that now Billy has a friend he doesn't need to hang out with him and Anne.
When Justin and Anne head off Toadie wonders why Billy doesn't deck Justin. Billy says that Anne's made her choice and she's welcome to him. As Billy leaves Toadie spots Justin's car and heads over...

Ruth's just finishing off her session and has to decline Phil's invitation to join him for a drink. As she heads for the door Phil practically breaks the land speed record to open it for her. Helen laughs softly and asks when Phil is going to tell Ruth exactly how he feels about her. Phil says he never gets the time and he doesn't want to rush it when he doesn't know how she feels about him.
Helen mentions the flowers that arrived at number 32 that morning, and how Ruth had been certain they were from Phil. He said he thought about sending flowers but thought it too much. He also thought he might ask her out, but he was going to wait a few days so he didn't appear too eager.
Helen's now laughing away and tells him to stop thinking and start acting.
School
Hannah's done a caricature and Lance has trouble working out who it is. Toadie, apparently. The man himself walks into the classroom with a packet of toilet rolls under his arm but refuses to say what they're for. Toadie shoves Hannah out of the classroom, saying he and Lance have some planning to do. When she's gone they have a laugh over her effort, saying it's not really what they're after for their project. Speaking of, that's on hold 'cause there's another project he's got to do first...
Number 32
Phil turns up on the doorstep with a massive bunch of flowers and apologises to Ruth for not sending them earlier. Ruth gushes over them and is thankful that he bought them. Phil asks her out for dinner, just the two of them, and Ruth says she'd love to. She goes to make them a coffee so they can decide the when and where.

Toadie and Lance talk about confessing to Billy that it was them, Lance saying he's never telling Anne though. They bolt when they see Justin and Anne coming. Justin's horrified to see the state of his car; the tyres have been let down and the car's been papered. They assume that Billy's responsible and Anne says she'll have a word the next time she sees him. Justin says he'll do that himself.
Inside Toadie tells Billy that he missed out on seeing Justin's face and Billy asks what he's done. He's horrified that Toadie "decorated" Justin's car and Billy's fuming - they're going to think he did it.
Number 32
Ruth thanks Phil again for the flowers and they talk about going for dinner. Phil asks if Ruth's heard from her ex recently. Nice subject change there. He says he wants to know if things weren't over between them and given his attitude in the past he doesn't want to cause more problems. Ruth assures him that there's nothing to worry about.
Phil goes to leave and says that he'll pick her up tomorrow night. He kisses Ruth on the cheek and she thanks him for being considerate before kissing him properly.

Hannah's working on her caricatures and asking Helen for her advice. She asks Helen to have a go at trying to draw Susan. Phil comes in and asks what the girls fancy for dinner that night, something new and exciting? Hannah asks what's up with Phil, Helen says he's just in a good mood.
Ramsay Street
Billy's walking home when he passes the driveway of number 32, Justin's car still parked there. Justin comes out and asks Billy if he's going to give him a hand cleaning his car. Justin believes that Billy did it to his car but Billy's doesn't respond. Justin tells Billy that he'll keep and walks away.
