Recap
Angie telling Toadie that they may have to leave Erinsborough to live with Big Kev.
Billy and Toadie deciding to run their own radio station.
Cheryl declaring that she's not going to let Darren go back to jail.
Holy Roll
Angie hands Toadie a plate of food at a table, but he mutters that he's not hungry. Angie sighs that she knows he's upset about leaving the place, but it'll be all right. Toadie retorts that he doesn't want to leave school - he loves it there. Angie chuckles that that'll be the day! She adds that he'll make new friends. Toadie mutters that he wants the ones he's got - especially Billy. He adds that it's not fair to drag him to the country. Angie tells him that they're trying to get the family together again - that's what's important. Toadie retorts that he just wants to stay there.
Erinsborough Hospital
Marlene and Cheryl have turned up to see Helen. Cheryl tells her that she's just there to drop Marlene off, as she has things to do. Helen thanks her for postponing the art exhibition. Cheryl smiles that she'll come back for another visit and have a big, long chat. She heads off, leaving Marlene to sit down with Helen, who tells Marlene that she thinks the portrait she was doing was one of her best. Marlene tells her that she'd better finish it, then. Helen, however, asks sadly how she *can* when she can barely move her right arm. Marlene assures her that she's got lots of friends who'll help her make it.
No. 30
Billy and Toadie are setting up equipment in the lounge room at No. 30 and Billy asks Toadie how long they can use the place. Toadie replies that Luke gave him the key and said they can come and go as they please - although if his mum has her way, it won't be for long. Billy asks what will happen to the radio station if he has to go, and Toadie tells him that it won't be much fun if they have to pull the plug before they've had a chance to attract a following. The two of them turn the equipment on and Toadie says he hopes Hannah's listening. He says into the microphone:
TOADIE: Check. Check 1- 2. Two. Hannah, can you hear me?
No. 26
At No. 26, Hannah is lying on the couch with the radio on and she exclaims excitedly as she hears Toadie's voice coming through:
HANNAH: Yes! It works!
Shop
Cheryl walks into the shop in which Darren was arrested and asks an assistant if she can speak to the manager. The assistant replies that he's out for a while. Cheryl says she'll wait.
No. 30
Toadie is still undertaking the soundcheck and Billy realises that they could put their *own* radio on to find out if it's working! Hannah comes in as Billy decides to put on a loop tape telling people when the station will go on air. Toadie shows her a poster for the station that they're going to plaster around Erinsborough.
Shop
Cheryl is looking at CDs when a man walks over to her and introduces herself as Scott Bradley, the Store Manager. Cheryl introduces herself and explains that her son was arrested in there the other day - only he didn't steal those CDs; the boy in front stole them. Bradley asks why Darren ran out of the shop if he didn't steal them and Cheryl explains that it was in order to catch the real thief and fix the matter up. She adds that Darren's on parole and can't afford to be mixed up in trouble like this. Bradley retorts pointedly that he shouldn't steal, then. Cheryl appeals:
CHERYL: Mr. Bradley, I realise this is just nuisance value to you, but to my son this represents another two years in prison. Now, I think that's worth a moment of your time, don't you?
Bradley comments that it really doesn't change anything. Cheryl asks if she could pay for the goods so he could drop the charges. Bradley, however, tells her that they have a very strict policy of prosecuting shoplifters - and once the police get involved, it's out of their hands. Cheryl stands there looking annoyed. She glances up and suddenly notices a security camera. She asks Bradley if it would have been on when Darren was arrested. Bradley replies that it's a 24- hour camera. Cheryl points out that he's got a videotape of what actually happened, and she demands to see it. Bradley tells her that it's probably been wiped by now. Cheryl, however, cries:
CHERYL: Mr. Bradley, my son is facing another two years in jail. You have his freedom sitting there waiting to be taped over. I think it's time you did the right thing and took a look at that tape, don't you?
Holy Roll
Billy is in the coffee shop looking for Hannah and Toadie. Angie shrugs that she hasn't seen them. Billy then asks her if she thinks her family will still be moving. Angie says she just wants to find some place where they'll all be together. Toadie and Hannah run in at that moment, having put up their posters and beaming that loads of people will be listening now. The three of them grab a table and Toadie says they mustn't tell anyone about this - they'll be phantom DJs, loved but unknown - as long as he's round long enough... Billy insists that they can still be mates even if he *does* have to move away. Toadie retorts that it won't be the same, though. Hannah points out that he's not going *yet*, so the three of them start planning the first radio show.
Erinsborough Hospital
Philip is sitting with Helen, telling her that he's enjoying working from home; he's working better than ever, in fact, and has already come up with a couple of marketing ideas. He adds that he's glad Roz was honest about his writing. Helen says she gathers Debbie hasn't sparked off a romance between him and Roz! Philip chuckles that he and Roz are very good friends, but there's no romantic interest - and besides, after what happened with Jen, he's not sure he wants to try again. Helen says sadly:
HELEN: I didn't think *I'd* ever fall in love again, until I met Reuben.
PHILIP: Well, some people have all the luck, don't they!
HELEN: I spoke to him when I was unconscious.
PHILIP (frowns): Reuben?
HELEN: Mm. He said that he was very cross with me; that I still had a lot to do.
PHILIP: Well, he was right. I only have *one* full- time job waiting for me at home. You have *three*!
Holy Roll
Toadie is telling Billy that his idea is a bit tame; they want to make it a bit wild like some of those morning radio shows where they really insult people. He adds that they're going with Mr. T and B- Boy as their names. Billy queries in disgust:
BILLY: B- Boy?!
Hannah suggests they have a call- in line for people with troubles. Toadie, however, says he wants a relationship line so they hear some hot stories! Angie joins them and asks Toadie if he can take over for half an hour why she has a break. She adds that she's checked the ice- cream levels, so no more milkshakes!
Chez Chez
A short time later, Angie sits down at a table with Marlene in Chez Chez and explains that she just needed to bend someone's ear for a bit: Toadie was real upset when she said they might be moving from Erinsborough and Stonie wasn't too thrilled, either. Marlene tells her that kids think they'll never make friends at the new place, but they always do. Angie says Toadie's never had a friend as good as Billy and Stonie wants to be around Catherine. She goes on that she'd like them all to be together for a bit. Marlene comments that Angie's done better than *most* mums hanging onto them for as long as she has. Angie sighs that she's being selfish, isn't she? Marlene, however, assures her:
MARLENE: No, you're not. You're trying to do the right thing by your family; I think that's great. I mean, people seem to discard family values these days. Look at Cheryl and Lou: now Louise will have to grow up without a father. Well, *that's* not how things should be.
She tells Angie that she thinks she's doing the right thing and shouldn't let anyone tell her otherwise.
Police Station
Cheryl marches into the police station and tells Sgt. Richardson, who's behind the desk:
CHERYL: I want my boy released.
SGT. RICHARDSON: You have a note to excuse him, do you?
CHERYL: He's innocent.
SGT. RICHARDSON: Your son has committed a crime and he'll have to go to court. After that, I have no doubt he'll spend quite some time in custody.
CHERYL: No, no, no, I have new evidence.
SGT. RICHARDSON: That may be, but I suggest you present it in court at the proper time.
CHERYL: No way. I don't want my son locked up in there until then.
She then takes a videotape out of her handbag and says it proves that Darren stole nothing from the shop. Sgt. Richardson shrugs that that may be, but he'll be released by a court, not by *him*. Cheryl insists that she wants Darren out of there today. Richardson retorts that he really doesn't have time for this. Cheryl says firmly:
CHERYL: Then I suggest you *take* the time, because my lawyer is on his way and this tape here proves Darren's innocence - so I am not leaving here until you watch it.
Erinsborough Hospital
Angie walks into Helen's room with a bunch of flowers and asks her brightly how she feels. Helen murmurs that she's fine. Angie tells Phil, who's still there, that she needs to talk to him about Big Kev's business later. Philip warns her not to tire Helen out. Angie sits down and tells Helen that they might be leaving Erinsborough - not that Stonie and Toadie are too happy about it. She keeps talking, not pausing for breath!
Chez Chez
Cheryl dashes into Chez Chez and tells Marlene - who's behind the bar - that they've cleared Darren! She explains about the security footage and how the police have to let him go. Marlene hugs her and exclaims happily that that's marvellous!
No. 30
It's evening- time. There's a mass of wires under the coffee table in the lounge room at No. 30 as Billy, Toadie and Hannah get set for the first broadcast of Shockwaves. Hannah tells them that they're going to have to change their voices if they don't want anyone to recognise them, but Toadie tells her that he's already one step ahead and they're using voice changers. Billy starts counting down to the first broadcast. They then flick the switch and he and Toadie start talking, sounding like Darth Vader on steroids!
Chez Chez
Cheryl hangs up the 'phone and tells Marlene that Darren's on his way home: he was calling from the station. Philip, who's sitting at the bar, asks where he's been. Marlene replies quickly that he's been on holiday - he went by train and was calling from the station! The two of them suddenly spot flyers for Shockwaves on the bar and Marlene asks what it is. Cheryl looks at them says she thinks it's a new radio station. Marlene comments that it might be worth a listen. She turns on the set behind the bar. As the three of them listen to the electronic voices bursting out at manic speed, Marlene asks if they're speaking English! Cheryl doesn't look impressed and turns it off!
A van
Two men in a van are sitting with electronic equipment trying to track down where the pirate radio station is broadcasting from. One of the men declares that they're getting close.
No. 30
The first Shockwaves show comes to an end and Billy and Toadie turn off the equipment. Toadie exclaims:
TOADIE: Were we great or *what*?!
Hannah asks if they think anyone was listening!
A van
The two men in the van sigh in annoyance as they lose the signal. One of them suggests reluctantly that they give it away for the night.
Chez Chez
The two men from the van walk into Chez Chez and, as they sit down at the bar, Cheryl comments that she doesn't think she's seen them round there before. The younger one - Pete - explains that they're working round there. The older man - Ben - spots a Shockwaves flyer on the bar and asks Cheryl and Marlene if they know anything about the station. Marlene explains that she found it on the bar. Cheryl adds that she thinks it's just a couple of kids mucking around. The older man, however, says it's a lot more serious than *that*: they were breaking the law. Pete adds that it was an illegal broadcast. Cheryl chuckles:
CHERYL: Oh come on, a couple of kids having a good time... There can't be *too* much to worry about.
BEN: It will be for whoever's behind it. When we track down the kids connected with this, they're going to be in an awful lot of trouble.
Cheryl and Marlene look at each other.
