No.28, the following morning
Karl is angrily buttering his toast and moaning about Libby. Susan tells him to calm down. Libby comes out and insists she was coming home after one drink with Darren. Susan explains that they're concerned about her, but Libby says that she only wants to interview him for her portfolio.
Hannah, Phil and Helen are talking about Cheryl and Lou splitting up. Hannah heads off for a skate.
Karl is still moaning about Libby and Darren. Susan rolls her eyes and tells him off for being so touchy lately.
Helen comes over to see Cheryl, but she's not there. She warns Darren not to have a bad influence on Hannah. He's not happy.
The council workers have arrived to demolish the house. Apparently they're going to take it down by tomorrow. Toadie and Pete are there, heckling the builders. Darren watches from the back fence.
Suddenly, Pete says there's someone still inside the house. The council worker is disbelieving but says he'd better go and check. There's no- one there though.
Toadie and Pete are playing table football. Things are rather antagonistic between them, but they decide to join forces about the house.
Darren comes in and recognises Pete from the house. He tells Toadie and Pete aggressively to stay away from the house.
Billy is taking calls and dropping things on the floor. Karl comes out and Billy moans about having to be his receptionist. Karl tells him to do his best until Karen comes back.
Mal rings up to ask Billy where his tools are. He doesn't know and insists he hasn't touched them.
Toadie and Pete are bonding. Toadie explains that Darren is an ex- con who robbed a petrol station. Pete wonders why Darren was at the house - he thinks there's something there.
Darren is on the phone to his associate explaining that the house is about to be pulled down - he can't get the stash now. The associate insists that he goes there tonight.
Darren is late for meeting Libby. He charms her a bit then tells her that he can't do the interview this evening because something's come up. He'll do it tomorrow, though. Libby probes him for what he's up to, but he won't tell her. He insists he's just doing a favour for a mate and she needn't look worried. He suggests that they meet for breakfast afterwards.
As he leaves, he kisses her on the lips and Susan comes in and sees this. She asks Libby what Darren is up to. Libby gets very defensive and accuses Susan of being prejudiced against ex- cons. Susan says that she trusts Libby's judgment - but she has to be sure deep down that Darren has really changed.
Phil pours Darren a beer. They chat about Lou and Cheryl a bit.
No.28, the following morning
Karl is doing aerobics while Billy does the ironing. Apparently Billy has got the day off the surgery today. Libby is off to interview Darren and Karl isn't happy. She just walks off.
Darren is creeping around trying to find the stash before the house is demolished. He has to move a heavy wardrobe to get at the required floorboard. Unfortunately, he pulls it down on top of himself.
Toadie is serving breakfasts when Pete comes in. He offers him a coffee and some doughnuts. Libby comes in looking for Darren and is concerned that he hasn't met her for breakfast - an hour ago. Toadie says he's probably had a better offer. Pete volunteers that he saw Darren going into the abandoned house this morning. Libby wonders if he's in trouble.
The machinery for demolishing the house has arrived. Libby and Toadie run up and say that there's someone still inside. The council worker doesn't believe them and signals the driver of the machinery to start the demolition.
