Brad asks Rick to lend him some money, but he's skint.
Pam tells Doug that she doesn't want to do scuba diving anymore. She relents and says she'll come to the pool, but won't go out to sea.
When Doug has gone, Gaby tells Pam to just confess about her fear of being out of her depth in water.
A teenage boy comes round and introduces himself to Debbie as a friend of Michael's. She assumes he is Freddo, and he doesn't correct her. He looks around in a suspicious manner and then suggests they go and talk somewhere else.
Lauren is looking for her diamond earrings from Brad which have gone missing.
There's a knock at the door and it's Cheryl! She has come to return his wallet. He is very pleased and invites her in. He introduces Cheryl to Lauren and Cheryl is pleased to hear that Lou doesn't have a wife. He offers her a reward for returning his wallet. She suggests dinner tomorrow night and he reluctantly agrees.
Beth is telling Gaby and Rick about her trip.
Debbie and "Freddo" come in and chat about Michael. Apparently "Freddo" was in for breaking and entering/drugs, but he's going straight now.
Rick comes over to say hello.
Brad takes his hi- fi. Pam comes in and immediately (correctly) suspects him of taking it in order to pawn it. She urges Brad to admit that he has a problem. She refuses to let him take the hi- fi.
Lauren is still looking for her earrings and Lou and Brad are helping her. Apparently Brad was very understanding about her losing the earrings. Lou looks suspiciously at Brad.
Rick buys Debbie a drink and she tells him she really wants to see Michael again - she's going to go this afternoon. Rick offers to drive her, but she's confused - he needs to be with a licensed driver.
Brad comes in and tells Beth he's done something really stupid - he's taken Lauren's earrings back and pawned them for gambling money. But he lost and now he can't get the earrings back. Beth offers to lend him the money to get the earrings back. Brad doesn't think it's the right thing to do - borrowing money from an ex- girlfriend to appease his current one.
Pam and Doug are getting their diving kit on. Pam is not happy and says she can't stand the instructor. Everyone puts their breathing apparatus on, but one man put his snorkel in his mouth instead. Pam smiles - she's not the worst in the group!
Rick is driving with a dummy called Roy in the passenger seat! Debbie refuses to be a passenger as Rick is driving illegally - Rick hasn't got his Ls yet.
Lauren and Lou are still looking for the earrings. Lou asks Lauren pointedly if Brad might know where they are.
Just then, Brad comes in. Lou has found a pawn shop receipt in Brad's washing and gives it to him crossly. Neither say anything to Lauren.
Doug manages to swim a few yards underwater, and the others in the class mock him. Pam takes exception to this and jumps in the pool, swimming almost a whole length! But she declares now she's proved she can do it, she's not coming back!
Brad asks Beth if he can borrow the money for the earrings for her after all.
Debbie had come to see Michael. Michael is quite pleased that Phil and Julie have split up(!) Debbie says it's really hard on Hannah. Michael says that it might be good for Phil to be on his own for a bit, to get himself together - then they can all move in with him later.
Debbie tells him about "Freddo" and says she really liked him. Michael warns her that there may be a guy after Freddo - called Darren Stark. He says that Darren is slime.
Cheryl calls round before her date with Lou and gives him a bottle of wine. She tells him she thinks they'd be more comfortable eating at home, so she's ordered dinner in for them. Lou is surprised.
Lauren is dressed up ready to go out. Brad comes in and secretly puts Laurens earrings down the sofa, then pretends to find them.
CHERYL: That was lucky.
LOU: Yes. Very lucky(!)
"Freddo" aka Darren Stark has come over to see Debbie. He suggests they go out for a drive tomorrow afternoon.
Lou and Cheryl have had dinner and are getting on well. Apparently Cheryl won 1.3 million dollars in the lottery, so she bought the pub. She comes on strong to Lou.
There's a knock at the door and it turns out that "Freddo" aka Darren Stark is Cheryl's son.
