Phone Booth
Lucy and Brad have made it to the phone booth but it eats their change. Lucy blames Brad for all this, but he says it's Cameron who rode off with his keys. Lucy suggests calling her dad, as she has to get home for her Hotel Management class. Brad tries calling his home but the line is engaged. She asks him to call her dad, but he's used up the last of the change. It's going to get dark soon, so they try to find a shop to get change.
Number 28
Gaby ends her phone call and tells Doug and Pam they can come out. They see the romantic dinner that Gaby has set up for their anniversary and are delighted with it. Todd and Phoebe arrive to be waiters for the night. Helen calls telling Pam that Andrew has swallowed a ring. Pam heads over. She tells them to wait, the ambulance is on the way but they just want Andrew checked. She says she'll be back soon.
Number 22
Helen tells Paul there's no use getting worked up as they don't know that Andrew even swallowed the ring. Paul lectures Helen for not keeping an eye on Andrew. Pam comes in and checks Andrew, but he seems fine, asking if they're sure he swallowed it. Paul doesn't think there's any other explanation. Pam offers to come to the hospital with them.
Number 28
Phoebe asks Gaby what she thinks about her dress. Gaby says it is unique and asks if it's her own design. Todd says who else would have a design with a snake across their stomach. Phoebe offers to make Gaby a copy of it but Gaby thinks her clients are a little too conservative for it. Pam returns and tells Doug about Andrew and that he seems fine. Meanwhile Gaby, Todd and Phoebe rush to the oven and quickly serve Doug & Pam's dinner. They leave them to enjoy the meal.
DOUG: A toast. Here's to twent...
(The door opens and Cameron enters.)
DOUG (under his breath): Here's to twenty five minutes of peace.
Cameron tells them he enjoyed the beach. Brad and Lucy will be along soon. Cameron says he has a few phone calls to make so he'll be in and out. He takes the phone and goes to his room. Pam wishes Doug a happy anniversary and they clink wine glasses.
Phone Booth
Brad and Lucy are walking back to the phone booth. Lucy lectures Brad on wasting so much time stuffing his face with burgers at the shop when he could have gone back here to call Cameron. Brad calls his home again but it is engaged.
BRAD: Oh what?! I don't believe it, engaged again. It's got to be Gaby, yak yak yak yak yak!
He tries Lucy's dad. They're pleased when it starts ringing, but less so when it keeps ringing and no one picks up.
Number 28
Doug and Pam are reminiscing about their first kiss. Pam comes over to kiss Doug but they are interrupted by someone at the front door. Jill comes in, crying. She tells them her mother- in- law, Barbara, won't let Jill see Ross. Apparently Barbara says Jill doesn't deserve a son like him after that last visit. Doug blames himself for being too heavy with him. Doug feels responsible and offers to go with Cameron and Jill to sort this out.
Number 28/Phone Booth
Brad finally manages to call Pam and explain the situation. Pam explains that Cameron's gone out. She offers to drive out and pick them up, but Brad doesn't want that as he'd only have to come back for his car later. Pam tells them to stay at the car and she'll send Cameron when he gets back. Lucy and Brad thank Pam, and Brad wishes her a fantastic anniversary.
Barbara's house
Cameron asks Jill to stay cool and calm. Barbara and Ross come through to chat with Jill.
BARBARA: Now that your mother has brought her lawyer and heavy to...
JILL: Must you twist everything to suit yourself?!
Cameron tells Jill to calm down. Barbara asks Ross who he'd rather live with. Ross says he wants to stay with his grandma for sure. He doesn't want to live with his mum as she made his dad go away. Jill assures him that isn't what happened and Ross gets angry. He knows what happened as his gran told him, he tells Jill to leave him alone and storms off. Jill accuses Barbara of telling Ross a twisted version of the truth. Barbara doesn't want Ross any more upset.
Beach
Lucy offers to share the only blanket with Brad, but he says he'll be fine. He then changes his mind and shares it with her. Lucy apologises for blaming Brad earlier. Brad guesses she'd wish she went away with Cameron earlier, but she doesn't. The beach is beautiful. Lucy asks to lay her hand on Brad's shoulder, Brad agrees as she snuggles in.
Number 22
Helen asks Paul how Andrew is. He's asleep but Paul is still concerned and wonders if he should bunk in with him. Helen says it isn't necessary, the doctor's gave him a clean bill of health and the x- rays showed no sign of the ring. Paul eagerly listens to the baby monitor. Helen tells Paul they will hear if something is wrong. Paul doesn't know what he'd do if something bad happened to Andrew. Paul begs Helen to never tell Christina about this, it would just be another nail in his coffin.
Number 28
Gaby, Todd and Phoebe have finished clearing up.
PHOEBE: I could start a whole new fashion trend.
GABY: Maybe but not in my boutique. I told you Phoebe, my customers find them weird, they like more conservative, elegant dresses.
PHOEBE: Well maybe you're all wrong. You can be elegant and make positive individual statements too! I'll prove it!
Pam thanks Todd and Phoebe for coming as they leave. Doug and Cameron arrive. Doug calls Jill's mother in law a witch, putting Cinderella's evil stepmother to shame. Jill is upset as Barbara has painted a very dark picture of Jill, and Ross believes her. Doug thinks Jill's husband is the villain of the piece. Cameron thinks Jill should keep the matter out of court, but he doesn't know what way she'll want to go. Pam tells Cameron that Brad and Lucy are still at the beach as Brad's keys are in Cameron's pockets. Cameron is shocked to see he has the key and when he realises Brad and Lucy are alone together he rushes off to get them.
Beach
Lucy's laying her head on Brad's shoulder, while Brad affectionately brushes Lucy's cheek. Lucy tells him not to stop, and they start kissing. Brad stops when he suddenly gets a cramp in his leg. He straightens out his leg, while Lucy calls him a big baby. Cameron arrives, and opens the door just as Lucy and Brad kiss again. Cameron asks if they're okay, and gives Brad the keys before leaving.
Number 22
Paul is asleep on the sofa, waking up suddenly panicking about Andrew. Helen tells him she's just checked on Andrew and he's sound asleep in his room, though he had been a bit unsettled earlier. Paul was fast asleep so didn't even hear him, and thinks if he was here alone he could have slept through goodness knows what. Helen tells him he's jumping to very illogical conclusions. Paul can't cope by himself and asks Helen to move in while Christina is away. Helen would love to help. Paul thanks her.
Number 28 (Pam & Doug's Bedroom)
Pam and Doug are in bed together kissing. Doug apologises about dinner, he'll make up for it next year. Pam says they could make up for it this year, the night's not over yet. Brad jovially walks in and interrupts them.
BRAD: I know it's your anniversary and everything but there is something I need to talk to you about.
DOUG: Now?
BRAD: Sorry to crash your party but I need some really heavy advice.
DOUG: I don't mean to be pushy mate but I just got a ticket to heaven and back with your mum's name on it.
Brad tells them he and Lucy spent some time alone together and things happened. Nothing major, not a trip to heaven and back, but at least he knows Lucy likes him back. Doug and Pam are pleased for Brad. Brad leaves and they wonder what happened.
DOUG: Who knows but it's not a tenth as interesting as what is about to happen here.
Doug and Pam start kissing again.
Number 28 (Living Room)
Brad thanks Cameron for picking them up. Cameron wants to talk about Lucy, he knows what happened in the car. Brad says it isn't anything he needs to worry about.
BRAD: But I'll tell you something for free. From now on I'm just thinking about me.
CAMERON: Just you, as in the singular?
BRAD: Just me as in me and Lucy. I backed off before because you're my cousin. But it's not fair to you or me to pretend I'm just friends with Lucy.
CAMERON: You love her, don't you?
BRAD: It took me a while to realise, but yeah, I love 'er.
CAMERON: You know how I feel, I'm not giving up.
BRAD: And I don't blame you, but I'm not backing off. I guess in the long run it's up to Lucy to decide.
CAMERON: Sorry it's turned out like this. I hope whatever happens with that that we can still be mates.
BRAD: Yeah well I'm not making any promises. Lucy's special to me. Real special.
CAMERON: And to me.
BRAD: Well then. Looks like it's every man for himself.
