Lochy goes missing at the beach.
Ryan suddenly spots Lochy struggling in the water a little way out. He shouts at Tanya to get help while he runs into the water. Lochy is struggling to keep her head above the water as Ryan swims strongly out towards her. Tanya can't find a soul to ask for help on the beach. Ryan finally reaches Lochie and starts towing her in to the shore.
Kerry is worried because Lochy hasn't turned up this afternoon. Dorothy is worried too and is out driving around the area looking for her. Kerry goes off to call Ryan, but Joe tells her that Ryan is at the beach.
Tanya has located some lifeguards on the previously-deserted beach(!) They strip off their shirts and pull their rescue boat into the sea. They manage to get hold of an exhausted Ryan and Lochie and pull them into the boat. Then they speed up them to the short. One of the lifeguards is suspiciously white-skinned for someone who spends all his days at the beach(!)
Ryan lies exhausted on the beach while the white-skinned bloke congratulates him. Tanya is very impressed too, but looks a bit funny. Lochie is OK.
Dorothy, Kerry and Joe are very worried about Lochy, but just then, the threesome arrive home. Tanya tells Dorothy stroppily that they had to fish Lochy out of the sea. Dorothy is horrified, and blames Joe for giving Ryan a lift to the beach. Ryan explains that Lochy stowed away in the van. Kerry can see Lochie is a bit shaken so takes her off for a hot chocolate.
Tanya tells Ryan that she's in deep trouble with her parents, and with a sister like Lochy, Ryan isn't worth the trouble. He's dumped.
Melanie has a new black dress to wear on her date with Kelvin. She thinks that Kelvin might pop the question tonight(!) The twins look worried.
When Melanie has gone, Christina tells Caroline that they should warn Melanie. But Caroline still thinks they should keep out of it.
Kerry tells Joe off for giving Ryan a lift to the beach. Harold comes in and invites them to a barbecue tomorrow evening - it'll be a chance to show them some slides from their trip to Europe(!) Joe tells Harold straight that his slides are boring.
JOE: I hope the night comes with some stiff drinks and a soft pillow.
HAROLD: What precisely do you mean by that?
JOE: I mean you'd have to be brain-dead to sit through one of your slide evenings.
HAROLD: Well, then. In that case, you should have a wonderful time!
Ryan is on the phone to his mother who is telling him off. Dorothy tells him off too - she says Ryan should have brought her straight home. Lochy says that Ryan is a hero - he saved her. Dorothy is surprised to hear this and apologises for being so hard on Ryan, saying she's very proud of him.
Kelvin hasn't turned up to take Melanie out. Apparently he just rang and said he couldn't make it and then hung up! Melanie is upset. Christina explains that Kelvin is a two-timer and that he asked her out. Melanie is angry and tells Christina that she's lying - she says Christina must have come on to Kelvin. She tells Christina to leave.
Caroline tells Christina that she told her so regarding Melanie and Kelvin. Christina convinces Caroline that they have to make Melanie see what Kelvin's really like.
Dorothy tells Joe that she still needs a date for when he's moving the fence. He's still evasive, so she tells him she'll get it moved herself. Joe doesn't protest and Kerry look suspicious.
Des, the following morning
Caroline has come round to see Melanie. Melanie is still upset about Kelvin standing her up. Caroline tells Melanie to be very careful with Kelvin - he's been behaving like a cad. She suggests that Melanie confronts Kelvin with what Christina told her. Melanie agrees, but says that she trusts Kelvin completely.
Ryan and Lochy come in. Harold tells him off for missing work and going down the beach yesterday. Lochy points out that Ryan was saving her life - that's why he was late. Harold tells Ryan that he's had several misdemeanours so he's fired. Lochy says it's not fair.
LOCHY: You're mean and funny-looking and fat!
RYAN: SHUT UP, LOCHY!
Lochy reckons that she'll get Ryan's job back for him - promise!
