Matt wants to go home for Christmas. Hilary isn't pleased. Matt wants time to think though, and Hilary shouldn't be ruling his life.
The parents of Rhys turn up, saying they've heard Rhys is sick. The father accuses Beverly of not looking after him properly. He invites Beverly to prove it by giving Deborah $1,000.
Madge screams that they've won the lottery - it's going to be a very happy Christmas!
Des's - three weeks later
Malanie is exercising while Jamie eats his breakfast. Des is getting ready for work and can't find any of his things. Melanie has made him a "body blaster". Des doesn't fancy it, but he tries it and it actually tastes OK. He's nervous about his new job - his resume completely oversold him!
Madge is looking at brochures of trips to Europe - the lottery money has come through ($60,000). Harold has given Madge a ring as a present and a flowers. Madge tells Bronwyn that they've decide to give each of their kids $5,000. Bronwyn is flabbergasted and very pleased.
Des has come to tell Beverly that he's almost put their accounts in order, but there's one cheque unaccounted for - for $1,000. Beverly gets all defensive and tells Des to mark it against "Personal".
In the kitchen, Beverly moans to Helen about Des prying into her business. Todd and Nick are play-fighting and Helen shouts at them. She hands Todd a letter from Melissa.
Sharon and Bronwyn come in - they're glad to be back from Narrabri.
Todd crumples up the letter saying that Melissa arrived back yesterday. He hasn't told her about Cody yet.
Bronwyn, Sharon and Nick are at the beach. Bronwyn warns Sharon not to burn herself - her suntan cream isn't high enough. Bronwyn and Nick splash round in the water while Sharon keeps tanning herself.
Helen pops round for a cup of tea and Madge shows her her new ring. Madge has a present for Helen too - it's Helen's favourite perfume. Helen isn't going out with Lyle any time soon - he's gone to Hong Kong to a book fayre. Madge is waiting for her new microwave to be delivered, so Helen sits down to look at brochures with Madge.
Todd and Cody are looking at magazines, but Cody is more interested in stroking Todd's hair(!) Todd is fending Cody off, but then she says she's got tickets for a concert that Todd is keen to go to - she's spent her whole summer's pocket money on them. Todd agrees to go, but he's obviously still uncomfortable about the Melissa situation.
Sharon thinks Matt will be back from Adelaide soon - he's too keen on Lee to stay away. She observes that Nick and Lee have been seeing a lot of each other and Nick tells her not to stir. Bronwyn has got icecreams for them and observes that Sharon has got a bit red.
Des has arrived home from his first day - apparently it went quite well. There were a lot of young kids working there too. Des has been shopping for some new clothes and spent rather a lot ($500) - he felt he needed some nice clothes for work.
Madge notices that Sharon's skin is a bit red but Sharon says she'll be golden brown when she gets up in the morning. Bronwyn is missing Henry.
Beverly is tending to Rhys while Helen cleans the sink. She insists that she isn't missing the surgery, she's enjoying being a full-time mum.
Nick comes in and looks a bit fed up. Helen suggests he gets on with finding a job quick. But Nick has had eight or ten interviews with no offers. Helen wants Nick to go back to school.
Des is trying on his new suit and Melanie is impressed. Melanie starts teaching him business "lingo"(!)
Todd and Nick are arguing about trail bikes. Just then, Melissa turns up. She's pleased to see Todd, and even likes his braces(!) She tells Todd she really missed him and they have a pash. Cody comes in and sees this.
CODY AND MELISSA: Todd!!
