Jane is trying to get hold of Paul to ask about Gloria's job, but he's gone out to dinner - New York are hours behind them with the time difference. She and Gloria chat about New York and Jane says she could never live there, although she thinks Paul and Gail could. Gloria asks if that's why she didn't marry Mark, but quickly apologises for prying.
Gloria is worried about her job, but Jane says she can almost guarantee that things will be alright. Gloria still hasn't told Rob about being sacked - she keeps chickening out.

Henry knocks on the dor and runs away. When Bronwyn answers it, Henry sneaks in through the back, through the house, and jumps on Bronwyn from behind! She's delighted to see him back from Brisbane. Henry tells her that Dan's condition is much much better. Bronwyn says that Paul and Gail might be away for a while. They are happy to have tme alone together.
Mike is still nagging Des to release money from his Trust Fund, but Des won't. Mike is petulant but Des and Scott are sick of his guessing games. Mike finally admits (to dramatic music!) that he is responsible for a girl called Jenny becoming a paraplegic.

Hilary joins them at the table and lets slip that Gloria has lost her job at the Waterhole. Gloria says it was just a little misunderstanding and they can talk about it later. But Hilary can't keep her mouth shut and says that Gloria has been branded a thief.
Des and Scott are telling Mike that it was just an accident, but Mike says it wasn't, he was fooling around which makes it his fault. Mike says that he wants the money to help her pay for things like food and transport until the compensation comes through. Jenny doesn't have much of a family to help her, so Mike says it's up to him. Des sympathises that Mike has been doing things tough recently, and Mike says he's sorry for being such a pain to live with. Des says he made a silly mistake. Mike thanks Des and Scott for being so good about it. He wishes it was him in the wheelchair instead of her.
Rob has stormed around to see Jane. He is very upset about Gloria's job. Jane gives Gloria the news that Paul has agreed that she can have her job back. But Rob says Jane can keep the job. Jim and Helen are laughing about Hilary putting her foot in it once again. Nick comes in and says he's had no luck finding a job. Helen says he's in a very competitive field in the art world.
When Jim has gone, Helen sits down with Nick and says he needs qualifications and experience to get the job he wants. Nick says you only need something to fall back on if you fail. Helen says if he leaves school, he'll have to pay his own way. Nick tells Helen not to worry - he knows what he's doing.
Paul and Gail's house
Bronwyn and Sharon are still arguing about Sharon wanting to leave school. Sharon says Bronwyn is a hypocrite - she only stayed until Year 10 herself. Then she storms out. When Bronwyn has gone, she says she only left school because her mother died and she had to look after Sharon. She would have finished school if she could.
