Jim and Beverly tell Hilary that they've had an enormous bill for Jim's mother's medical care in the USA - $120,000. Now they'd like to sell the two figuines as a pair, they can get over $90,000, and Jim would give her half the money. But Hilary refuses to sell because her father gave it to her - it's not her fault that Jim's mother died a pauper. Jim and Beverly are very disappointed - Hilary doesn't even like the figurine. Hilary says that's her decision and she's sticking to it. She goes off to see Helen at the hospital.
Jane and Gail come in with some pizza after working late. Joe and Toby have gone to a "martial arts movie". Jane tells Gail that Toby is bonding well with Joe over the billy cart making. Jane tells Gail that her life seems to be in such a rut - sometimes she wonders if she should have pursued her modelling career in the USA. Gail says she probably could pick up her modelling career if she really wanted to.
Sharon comes in late and tells Aunt Edie that she's been out studying with Nick. Aunt Edie isn't pleased and wants Sharon to tell her about her movements in the future. Sharon protests that Aunt Edie's strictness has driven Bronwyn out of the house, but Aunt Edie doesn't care - she wants Sharon to behave herself.
Hilary is a bit upset about Helen being in a coman. Beverly reassures her that Helen will be fine. Beverly is still clearly upset about the figurine, but she doesn't say anything. Hilary goes into the kitchen, sees Nick there, and screams.
HILARY: I could have dropped dead from shock!
Beverly apologises for not explaining about Nick and Hilary says Nick should dress better, and not like a burgular(!)
When Nick has gone to bed, Beverly brings up the subject of the figurine again. Hilary says she's quite comfortably off and Jim's financial problems are his problem. She says she won't let Jim take advantage of her again. When they were kids, Jim apparently strapped on of Hilary's dolls to a rocket. She doesn't think that Jim has changed very much(!) and he's not going to get his own way this time.
Clarkes, the following morning
Sharon is begging Bronwyn to come back to No.30 but she doesn't want to. She's quite happy living in Des's house. Sharon isn't pleased and Bronwyn says Sharon will just have to save up so she can move out too. Maybe her secret new job will help.
Hilary is banging on about "Nick's influence" on Todd and Katie(!) She tells Jim and Beverly that she's decided to stay on for a few days so she can go and see Helen again. Then she goes off for a shower.
JIM: Don't worry. Her bark's worse than her bite.
NICK: You mean she bites as well?!
Beverly explains that they need a favour from Hilary so they have to try to keep her sweet. Beverly explains to Jim that Hilary has been harbouring a grudge towards him for over 30 years over a doll. Even after all this time, she won't let Jim take her doll again, not even for $40,000.
JIM: What chance have I got with someone who thinks like that?
Sharon meets Nick to walk to school. She's working again on her secret job tonight.
Hilary is wondering where Paul is and suggests that there might be "problems at home"(!) Then she says that she doesn't approve of the IVF programme that she considers to be "interfering with nature". When Jane comes in, she has a go at her about her makeup!
Gail gives Jane a box that has come for her - inside is a pair of diamond earrings!
HILARY: Well! You obviously have a rich admirer.
Bronwyn has sneaked back to pick up the rest of her clothes while Aunt Edie is out. Sharon is trying to work out how much she needs to get a bond on a flat(!) But Bronwyn tells her not to quit school - she regrets it herself now, she could have become a vet.
Bronwyn reckons Aunt Edie will settle down, but Sharon gets a bit upset and says she thought she and Bronwyn were going to stick together. But Bronwyn couldn't face living without Henry.
Aunt Edie comes in and she tells Bronwyn to come home. But Bronwyn won't, unless she can see Henry whenever she wants. She bangs on about the "scandal at Narrabri" and Bronwyn gets very angry - she didn't do anything wrong in Narrabri. She tells Aunt Edie off for trying to run her life and now she's going to live her life as she sees fit. She walks out, slamming the door behind her.
The earrings were apparently sent by Mark Granger, a partner in the cosmetics firm that Jane did some modelling for, to thank her for a very successful campaign. Jane muses that Mark was very nice to her in New York, but it was purely business. Jane wonders if she should keep them and Gail says that it's fine - it's a token for a job well done. Hilary doesn't approve though (what a surprise!)
Hilary is telling Jim and Beverly about Jane's diamond earrings. Jim is worried about his debts again. He tackles Hilary about the bride's doll and apologises for the incident. Hilary says he's only apologising to get the figurine.
HILARY: I didn't know my visit here was going to be quite so unpleasant!
She dashes off crying to her room leaving Jim to roll his eyes.
Nick arrives for his class and sets up his easel. Shock horror, the nude model is Sharon!!
