Des and Mike's
Des is trying to comfort Jane after his revelation about knowing of Jane's feelings for him. Jane wants to know if it was Mike who told him. Des assures him that Mike didn't say anything about it until he found out. Des tells Jane not to be embarrassed and that she can have anyone she wants, just not him. An upset Jane runs to the door and leaves.
Paul is typing something onto a typically 80's looking computer. He thumps his hand on the wall when the computer crashes and calls it ‘stupid' (computers in the 00's can be just as frustrating believe me, Paul!). Gail comes in and asks what's up so Paul explains about the computer crashing and it coming out with the wrong numbers for staff's salaries. Gail suggests that he do it tomorrow but Paul wants to do it now. Gail's annoyance sensing antenna comes into play as she offers to take over on the computer as she's in the ‘right frame of mind'. Gail asks Paul to make her some coffee.
Mrs. Mangel is explaining the story of Bouncer taking a fancy for her to Bronwyn when Jane comes in. Mrs. Mangel goes over to her and sees that she's upset so asks if everything's OK. Jane insists that everything is fine although she won't be seeing Des anymore. Ms. Mangel is happy with Jane's decision and so goes to feed Bouncer. Bronwyn comes over and asks if there's anything she can do. Jane says she has to work it out for herself and that she was happy to just be friends with Des while he got over Daphne. Jane curses Mike for telling him but a brave Bronwyn admits that it was her who told Des. It appears as though she didn't know it was a secret. Jane however, still partially blames Mike and goes off to bed.
Des and Mike's
Mike and Des are playing with Jamie to try and make him go to sleep. Bronwyn comes in and apologizes for spilling the beans of Jane's feelings and making everyone uncomfortable. Des tells her not to worry and asks how Jane is. Bronwyn replies that she looked pretty upset but Des thinks that she'll get over it. Des changes the subject and asks if Bronwyn wants to work full time for him now. Bronwyn says yes straight away as she loves Jamie and thinks he's ‘bonza'. Before Bronwyn leaves they agree that she'll agree to come tomorrow morning to start a one week trial. Once she leaves Mike admits his apprehension about hiring Bronwyn so soon after they've just met. Des is less worried, saying that she's from an agency so she's bound to be safe.
Gail has just finished typing up the work that Paul was having difficulty with earlier because the computer kept on crashing. It seems that Gail even managed to fix the computer as well. Go Gail! Gail comments that she always manages to do Paul's job when he's having trouble but Paul can never handle her responsibilities. Paul is confidence that he can so Gail proposes that they swap jobs for a week and see who comes out best.
Henry's doing some gardening when he spots Jane and Bronwyn having a chat on the other side of the street. He goes to introduce himself to Bronwyn when Jane spots Des and runs. Bronwyn explains to an over excited Henry that she's boarding at Mrs. Mangel's. Henry says that he likes to make newcomers feel welcome by taking them out for dinner but Bronwyn doesn't know what hours she'll be working as she's only just about to start her new job as Jamie's sitter. As they reach Des's house Bronwyn apologizes for being late and goes in, closely followed by Henry who is stopped by Des. Henry admits to Des that he thinks he's fallen in love with her already and wants to marry her. Des asks him to wait until she finishes work for the day which makes Henry laugh. He leaves doorstep and confidently strolls down the garden.
Gail is accusing Paul of not doing enough work but Paul insists that he's only imitating what Gail usually does when she's at work. An unimpressed Gail tells him to hurry up and get on with the paperwork. Jane comes in, with other officy type pieces of paper and gives it to Gail to check. Before leaving, Paul gives Jane a list of apartments and asks her to ring them to tell them his findings. When Paul leaves Gail notices that Jane's work is all wrong as it's written in the third person. Jane apologizes and admits that her mind has been on other things lately. Jane thinks that she's been such an idiot with everything that's happened with Des and she's been so embarrassed now that he's found out, as well as half of Erinsborough. Gail, trying to comfort her, tells her that everything will be OK and that they'll always be friends but Jane seems less convinces. Gail, ever the popular worker thinks she should re-type her work to keep her mind off of Des.
Subtle, Gail. Really subtle.
Henry arrives at Mrs. Mangel's door to collect the money for his gardening work. Henry notices the comic in Mrs. Mangel's hand and describes them as old style Aussie comic books. Mrs. Mangel explains that they're Bronwyn's which seems to excite Henry further. Henry decides to give Mrs. Mangel some of her money back as he's feeling nice today and is wondering if Mrs. Mangel would do something nice in return. Henry asks if Bronwyn has ever talked about having a boyfriend. Mrs. Mangel answers by saying that Bronwyn has obviously been brought up very well so she wouldn't be chasing any boys. A disgusted Mrs. Mangel ushers Henry out the door.
Jane arrives and asks Mike if she can put a poster up on the board. Mike agrees and apologizes for what happened between her and Des, although apparently he did warn her about what might happen. Jane says she could have done without hearing anything on the subject from him and goes to leave. Before she goes, she bumps into Des and starts for the door.
Des and Mike's
Bronwyn answers the door to Henry who announces that he's a member of the ‘make a stranger feel at home committee' which means that he absolutely has to take her to dinner tonight. Bronwyn, who doesn't seem very enthusiastic at the thought, announces that she's going to take Jamie for a walk around. Henry says he wants to go with her as the neighbourhood can be very confusing if you don't know your way around it. Bronwyn agrees as Henry starts towards the door. Bronwyn stops him and says that they've both forgotten something; Jamie.
Gail thanks Jane for re-typing the paperwork she got wrong and asks her to do the rest of her work in Paul's office as she's working with very confidential stuff. Jane agrees and picks up her work but ends up dropping it in stress. Jane puts her face into her hands and admits to Gail that she's getting worse and needs a few days off to get everything in her head sorted. Gail agrees and goes to make them both a cup of coffee.
Henry and Bronwyn come in after what looks like a day of fun. While Henry goes to get some drinks Mike comes over and advises that her and Jamie go home because Jamie looks sleepy. Bronwyn disagrees but Mike insists that she do it and she better start taking her job seriously from now on. When Henry comes over, Bronwyn says she has to go and won't be able to go to dinner with him anytime. She takes Jamie and leaves. Henry knows Mike must have put her off and tells him to butt out of it as he's not going to let anyone as gorgeous as Bronwyn get away.
