Charlene and Rob are hard at work. Jim arrives and tells Rob he's grateful for the work he has put in. However he is going to have to sell up as he still hasn't found a mechanic. Rob tells him to pop over to Paul and Gail's later so he can meet Gloria. He tells Jim he'll love her – everyone does!
Paul and Gails
Gail has told Paul she and Gloria have had a fight. He wants to know what it was about. Gail says Gloria accused her of not liking her and Paul says she has a point – Gail doesn't like her. She's sure she hasn't been obvious about it but Paul thinks otherwise and tells Gail she is acting like a snob. Paul says Gloria's class doesn't matter, as it's clear she's in love with Rob. Gail is sure all she wants is Rob's money and tells Paul she told her so. Paul goes to talk to Gloria leaving Gail to sulk.
Paul and Gails Garden
Gloria is crying. Paul apologises for what Gail said and Gloria says it's fine. At least she knows where she stands. Paul says Gail didn't mean what she said but is just finding it hard to adjust to another woman in Rob's life. Gloria tells him she can't change and if Gail can't accept that it's tough luck. Paul says she can stay for as along as she wants but Gloria says she and Rob will go to a hotel.
Madge arrives and delivers Beverly a recipe she asked for. She's cooking macaroni cheese for dinner as it's Jim's favourite and she wants to cheer him up. She hopes she will be able to cook it! Jim arrives and is on his way to a game of golf. He's hoping to run into a few business contacts.
Paul and Gails
Paul tells Gail he thinks the problem is that Gloria is not a clone of her mother and therefore she can't come to terms with Rob dating her. He says he's only seen her like this once before and that was when she found out she was adopted. He says the difference is her behaviour then was justified. He tells her he realises anything to do with her parents is a sensitive issue but advises her to apologise to Gloria or risk having her heart broken by Rob.
Gloria arrives and Ron introduces her to Charlene. They hit it off straight away and Gloria tells Charlene she admires her for having the guts to give the engineering business a try. She says she wishes she had done something similar but is happy with her job at the supermarket. Charlene leaves to take a phone call and Gloria suggests to Rob that they move out of Paul and Gail's and into Lassiters.
Harold is doing his best not to nag Henry. Henry assures him they are all going to get on fine together when Harold moves in. Harold doesn't want anyone to put themselves out just because he's moving in. Madge tells him to stop worrying and be grateful that Charlene and Henry like him as some kids resent their parents remarrying.
Gail arrives and sees Charlene and Gloria sharing a joke. Gloria tells her that she and Rob are moving into Lassiters. Rob cuts his hand and Gloria leads him o the first aid kit. Charlene tells Gail it's a good job Rob has someone to look after him.
Henry is struggling to listen to his radio as it's on low volume. Harold insists he turn the volume up and as they are over the controls they drop the radio. Madge shouts at them both and tells them they need to act normally around each other and drop the acts. She tells them tomorrow is Sunday and they are going to spend the day together as one big happy family.
Paul and Gails
Gail and Gloria arrive home and Gloria goes upstairs to pack. Gail tells her she doesn't have to go and says the least she could do is to give her the benefit of the doubt. Gloria tells her it's too late, she'd have liked them to have got on, but they're two different people and they will never be friends.
Jim and Paul are returning from their game of golf. Jim was ignored by his business contacts at the course. Paul tells him it will pass and he'll get a job soon. Henry arrives and tells Jim he's sorry to hear what happened with the business. He says it's a good job he married a doctor as least he won't have to worry about the bills!
Paul and Gails
Gloria comes downstairs with her cases. Gail asks her to accept her apology and stay. Gloria says she won't as she doesn't like Gail and Gail doesn't like her. Gail says they are judging on first impressions and haven't given each other a chance. Paul arrives home and offers Gloria a lift to Lassiters. He takes her cases and they leave Gail alone.
Beverly is cooking and so far it's all going well. Jim is distant and Beverly asks him what's wrong. He tells her what happened at he golf course. Beverly tells him they still have each other and says she can still put food on he table even if she can't cook it. Jim is offended and says he doesn't know what to do next. Beverly assures him everything will be all right and hugs him.
